Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - 2004 1.8 Exhaust Mounts rusted through 22 Aug 2008 (Forum)
I was quite shocked to see such corrosion on a 4 year old car. Is this common, and does this sound like a fair price? Thank you! -
Ford - Mark 2 Cortina - any experience 29 Jul 2008 (Forum)
It's a G reg, and Bristol (local to me) registered. My only experience of these is the back seat when i was about four years old. Can anyone (ahem) mature / senior enough to have had one and remember what to look out for on these? I do appreciate that it'll be a shock compared to today's cars. Thanks -

Audi A3 Sportback (2004 - ) - New or nearly new? 26 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Buying second hand from a dealer seems very expensive compared to buying a new one from a broker. I have been looking at an 18 month old, 17k on the clock for £19000. I can buy a similarly speced one new for £21,500. My other question is can these brokers be trusted? Will I be waiting 6 months for the car and get it in the wrong colour? -
Looking for a New MPV, advice needed 29 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Hi all, I currently have a Renault Scenic (51 plate) that I'm looking to replace. Due to a car accident a few years ago, I really appreciate the ease of getting into and out of something higher off the ground. I'm looking to replace my car (most likely with something maybe one year old, at auction) and the following things are important to me: -speedometer and gauges in front of the driver, as opposed to in the centre console (rules out the Picasso) -good fuel economy, ideally a better economy than my 1.9 dTi scenic.... -
Renault Clio 1 Petrol (1991 - 1998) - 1998 - whoomph noise from front 14 Jan 2008 (Forum)
It stops again when the car slows down. I think the car is also making a really low pitched booming as well - at higher speeds when it isn't going whoopmh. Anybody know what this could be? The garage was no help, as it doesn't make it from standing. -
Vauxhall Corsa D (2006 - ) - 2007 1.2 - Courtesy lights stay on when locking 28 Nov 2007 (Forum)
SWMBO's Corsa 1.2 petrol is just 6 months old and she's having (minor) problems with the locking system. The courtesy lights stay on after locking and also at time when driving the car. To avoid draining the battery (there are 4 footwell and three sets of overhead lights) I've removed the fuse. -
Volvo - Which one - XC90 or XC70 ? 30 Oct 2007 (Forum)
But the lure of a newer car and the better drive, handling & economy of the XC70 are very tempting but the XC90 still has the 7 seat option which is useful for my large family. Looking for any owners who have experience of these cars to help me decide ! -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1.9TD 'Water in fuel' warning light 13 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I've drained the fuel filter- to no avail and yesterday I changed the fuel filter- again to no avail. The car starts fine and performance is still good, as is the fuel economy, which leads me to believe that it's likely to be a simple electrical fault. As the car is 13 years old and with 203k on the clock, I'm not worried in any way, but i just wonder if any other proud 306TD owners have experienced the same problem? -
Diesel Engines 11 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Also are all diesel engines bound to easily achieve 200+k miles? I'm in particular interested in Japanese/Mazda diesels (323/626 cars), I'll might go to see a Mazda car on the weekend which has got just over 100k on the clock with full service history! -
Nissan Primera, recall 27 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Hi, My 3 1/2 year old 2.2 Primera developed a fault with the turbo, so I took it into a main dealer, who has been servicing my car from new, he told me that there where three campaigns (recalls to you and me) that needed doing, the first two have been outstanding since 2005 1/ Replace a hose that supplies the turbo 2/ Remap the engine management software to take care of the black smoke from the exhaust 3/ Improve the handbrake efficiency (nearly failed it's MOT two months ago on that point) Do you think there has been any long term damage or accelerated wear to the car? -
MOT test conundrum 18 Apr 2007 (Forum)
This has come up because of the revelation in another thread that you can check your cars MOT history on the VOSA website. It's not at all important, but I just can't get my head around it. I bought my car in February. At that time it had a private plate, so was re-registered by the dealers. -
Toyota Picnic changing stereo 30 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Thanks for all your help being unfamiliar with the car and the dark weather wasn't very helpful to me! -
Dealer damaged my alloy 9 Dec 2006 (Forum)
We have also been incredibly careful with the car and have not damaged any of the wheels before he did this. It was on their land, with their service guy driving it. I was in the passenger seat and inwardly thought "aaargh" when the car bumped past the kerb. -
Helpful Main Dealer - Shock 5 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Before anything else I knew that one day I'd need the radio code if and when the battery was disconnected and unfortunately I didn't get it when I bought the car. The 10 year old car had always been serviced at the same main dealer before I bought it last August and I thought I might just call them hoping they might give me the code number after a visit and a few pounds changing hands. -
Possible write off - where do we stand? 4 Dec 2006 (Forum)
They have now done this but I have been told by a friend that the car is likely to be a write off even though it has just passed its MOT and is fine to drive aside from the damage to the rear bumper and inside of the boot area. The car isn't worth very much so what are our options if it is declared a write off but we wish to keep it? -
A slight moan - BMW Dealer. 17 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Took my old 330d (owned by BiL whose away in Canada doing some low flying stuff where nobody complains) to the local dealer today to attend to an Airbag warning light - just felt slightly miffed (only slightly). -
Honda Jazz coolant 13 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Hi, I need to top up the coolant in my Jazz and the local dealers don't seem to be able to supply the "long life type 2" stuff that the Jazz seems to wants. Given the car is only six months old I suspect that it didn't have enough coolant from day 1 - nice PDI from the Honda dealer! The dealers seem to think that some Unipart coolant is good enough however it says that on the outside that it's good for two years whereas the labels in the jazz's engine bay talk about 12 years before it needs changing. -
Is it a Vauxhall, Opel or something else 11 Feb 2006 (Forum)
The back lights were like a bar and were a lot more square than those of the Senator and had a look of a) an American car and b) an old Cavalier. I'm afraid that's all I can give you. If you said the name, chances are I'd know it. Any help please? -
1999 megane sport 21 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Also the car is coming up to 5 years old and has done 52000 miles. The recommended Cambelt change is between 60000-70000 miles but as it has been nearly 5 years it is in on the ramps anyway would it be more cost effective to get this done at the same time and is this a major job on this engine?
