  • Isuzu Trooper - Starter Motor 26 Sep 2016 (Forum)
My husband thinks we should probably put a new one on, but reading all the info leads me to suppose it's a s*** job. I'm inclined to ask less and let someone else put a new starter motor on it. My husband thinks if the starter motor spins before it starts, no one buy it. Looking at other ads for Troopers (a brilliant tow car) we are not asking an excessive price and would knock £150 for the start motor.

  • BMW 3 Series Touring - Tyre pressures 8 Nov 2015 (Forum)
Such high rear pressures could account (partly) for BMW's reputation for providing fun and games in snow & ice conditions. Can anyone provide me with recommended useable pressures for 205/55/R16's?  Or is it gut feel?  In which case I would opt for the same all round, whatever the pressure. Tks

Currently looking at used Corsa 1.2's for our daughter who has just passed her test at nearly 18. With budget of around £1000 to £1200 there seems to be a glut of these cars and they dont seem to be selling. I'm missing something and dont know what it is!

  • LDV Pilot - LDV Pilot steering box oil seal replacement. 1 Aug 2014 (Forum)
Some time ago I heard that there was only an overhaul kit available which cost a fortune,so wondered if anyone knows where to get the individual seal/s....I`m used to paying between two and twelve quid for seals but cannot find one for this fix. Also are any special tools required to strip and assemble these boxes? Thanks in advance of any replies :)
  • Sprinter;Transit;Transporter - Which - Hi Top Van for local Deliveries 10 May 2014 (Forum)
The new van needs to have a Hi top, wide access for loading ride on mowers via a portable ramp. The van will be used on these local runs so we have concerns about DPF 's blocking as the van will not benefit from a long run except on the odd occasion. Understand the Vauxhall/ Renaults have a poor reliability record and have no knowledge of the new Transits. Heard good reports about the Sprinter/Transporter which I'm told are effectively the same van Can you help please
  • Any - Old insurer won't insure! 4 Mar 2014 (Forum)
However, although they can't tell me, I would love to know why they would not cover the change of car. I am pretty much Mr average, driving an average car, in my mid 50's, never made a claim or had a point on my licence in 35 years of driving. What could possibly preclude me from getting cover?
  • Any - Battery and Alternator Management Systems 30 Jan 2014 (Forum)
My son has owned his 58 plate BMW 123d Coupe since 2009. Purchased S/H from the local BMW dealer with a full service history. The car has been serviced by BMW in line with the recommended schedules but is now exhibiting 'problems with the electrics'. BMW checked the battery/alternator management system at the last service and pronounced all fine.
  • Mercedes Benz C-Class W202 (1993 - 2000) - 98 2.5 Electrical / electronic problems 31 Dec 2013 (Forum)
The central locking system, front windows, rear view mirrors randomly stop functioning over a period of days. I found that by removing the approp[riate fuse (s) and replacing them (same fuses) temporarily soved the problem. Recently, when the malfunction has occurred I`ve resorted to disconnecting the positive terminal of the battery for some ten minutes or so and then reconnecting.
  • Rover 75 - Bonnet release problem 29 Dec 2013 (Forum)
I have two Rover 75's and have had a big problem to open the bonnet on both cars.  I eventually manage to open the bonnet on one car on which only one of the two catches was holding by prising it open enough to unbolt the top part of the catch.
  • BMW X3 - Anyone Got Experience With a BMW X3 16 Nov 2013 (Forum)
I'm aware it depends a lot on tyres but assuming I would put winter tyres on are they useful enough in the snow? It's important I can get to work every day. I'd also be looking at x3's with pretty high mileage (90k+) due to the cost of them. I've got a VW golf TDI at the moment with loads of miles on that I know will last forever, are the X3' diesels as reliable and long lasting? Cheers
  • N/A - Motorway Services 13 Aug 2013 (Forum)
Costa only had cakes, etc. available (I am getting fed up with them popping up everywhere from my nearest Tesco to outpatients’ departments), an outlet whose name escapes me had a selection of hot food that looked like it had been kept warm for hours and the burger outlet had a long queue. We ended up getting a sandwich and cold drink from the M+S outlet. Thurrock services 2/10! Do any forum members know any decent places nearby?

  • Citroen C3 - Changing warranty as new owner? 9 Jan 2013 (Forum)
I have just picked up a nice little 2011 Citroen c3 1.6 auto exclusive ,stolen recovered which was cat d and had a small bit of n/s front wing damage. Citroen have three year warranty and according to their website the warranty is transferable. It's the cat d bit that I am not sure about, would they still transfer it?. The other problem is because it come salvage we don't have any of the bits that come with it, like handbook service book warranty, we can't even get the wheels of as we don't have the lock nut key.
  • Ford Mondeo - 1999 Mondeo estate mk ii sudden starter failure 8 Jan 2013 (Forum)
1999 S reg estate, 103000 miles. after 2.5 utterly trouble free years, sudden no go. Whirring sound from starter (not a click) and engine will not fire. Battery seems fine (lights good etc). did move it around the driveway the other day (last time it was moved) which I've never done before, but apart from that nothing unusual.
  • Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 1997 1.25 Zetec Over-revving 18 Dec 2012 (Forum)
1997 Ford Fiesta 1.25 with Zetec Engine My son has just returned from a couple of days away (including motorway journeys ) and says that on several occasions when pulling up to a road junction and putting engine into neutral, the car revs went up to 5k plus. He reckons that he`s checked to see if the throttle cable etc was jammed , car mat sticking and anything else obvious but has found nothing . We`ll be looking at it in the morning in the daylight but in the meantime does anyone have any experience of this problem orhave any suggestions?
  • Pug 307 - cambelt 22 Nov 2012 (Forum)
It was supposedly replaced 5 years go on 101,000 and now the mileage is 133,000. How difficult is it to do? I have replaced cambelts on 106's and on saxo's and they are relatively straight forward. I have been quoted in the region of £370 by the garages around here and due to the cars age it isn't worth forking out that kind of money when if I do it it will cost around £80 -£100 inc the water pump.
