Citroen Hdi frustration! 13 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Am the owner of an 04 berlingo Hdi, the van mostly runs fine but has days when it totally lacks go- has been into Citroen under warranty, twice they plugged it into diagnostic comp to no avail, last time reloaded software into management system which seemed to work for a while, but is now back to it's usual gutless self; does not rev freely and struggles to reach over 60, am considering getting rid to save my sanity-any ideas? -
HGV axle raising 3 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Many HGVs have 1 or more axles that they can raise, presumably to save tyre wear when running empty. Do these lower automatically when the vehicle is loaded or is it up to the driver to do it manually? I 've seen some flatbeds loaded with goods, for example steel, with an axle still raised. -

cambelt & mpg question - Citroen xantia 18 Sep 2006 (Forum)
I tried all the usual stuff- emissions, brakes, CTS, full service, A garage has suggested it could be the cambelt which may be off a tooth, his words not mine. Would this cause a 5mpg drop? Car runs fine otherwise and is mainly town used (80%) , with the occasoinal motorway journey. -
2.5 litre Omega- Secondary Air Injection 30 Aug 2006 (Forum)
There is a rubber hose at each end of the valves which connects to the manifold pipes, and on one side I am getting it melting and blowing out in about 20 minutes of engine running. Vauxhall suggested that I replace the valve unit at a cost of £132, however I would like to know if anyone has had this problem before to see if that is the probable cause of the problem. Please Please help...... -
M6 toll 18 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Hi, I've got a journey to Silverstone next month and have just run the start and end points through the AA route finder. The journey is quite straightforward, mostly all motoway, but it does say to use the M6 toll road. I've no real problem with using this section of motorway, but ...... do I NEED to use it or is there a toll free alternative and if I use it exactly how much will the toll be ? -
Astra vibration on moving off 15 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Now that my Astra is run in, at just over 5000 miles, it has developed a brief vibration patch, which occurs when I move off, at about 1000-1200 revs, forward or reverse. The car is a 1.6 petrol, one year old, and is very smooth at all other times. -
Carina lambda sensor 16 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I thought the lambda sensors were expensive but £400 puts the car as a definite no-no. If you can't get them for say sub £150; any recommendations on good quality, reliable, cheap to run, insure and maintain bangers for around a grand? Not a ford though! teabelly -
MG PA 1935 1 Apr 2006 (Forum)
It doesn't have the original engine, it was replaced with a Ford engine many years ago (in excess of 40) due to the original engine constantly failing. It still runs ok and the body work is in good condition for a 71 year old car! What he wants to know, is how much is this worth before and after restoration? And where would be the best place to advertise this? -

Hi.Looking for some advice (again).Noticed that my 2004 Vectra Sri has a strong petrol smell inside the car when left running.I hadn't really noticed this until it had the Piston rings upgraded (Warranty) as it had lost oil.It isn't my imagination,my mate has also commented on this. When the car is running and the heater is on (hot),it seems to be worse.Normal, petrol leak or something else? Thanks -
Omega overheating problems 12 Feb 2006 (Forum)
, i have an omega 2.2 dti 2001 (new shape), problem is i travel for about 10-15 miles, then stop with engine still running, the temp gauge will get higher and higher, i cant hear the fan kicking in, but when i start travelling again the temp gauge goes down to normal. When the cars temp is to high, steam seems to come out from the back of the engine, could it be the thermostat or maybe probs with the fan, any ideas ?? -
mixing diesel and petrol?? 21 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Helo,..my home mechanic mate had a diesel come in which had petrol put in by accident. Not being one to waste fuel -He pumped the petrol out and mixed it with diesel ending up with 70% diesel and 30% petrol. He put it in his 730 petrol bmw and it runs sweeter than it did on petrol so i was wondering what could be a downside to doing this long term?..He is going to try with cooking oil next time> Thanks for any replies -
Toyota Camry 2.0 gli 1990 petrol 11 Jan 2006 (Forum)
My 2.0L 16v injection Toyota Camry, was working absolutely fine until this afternoon on a drive to blackpool, the oil light came on and the car stopped running completely, I checked the oil and there's plenty in there, the anti-freeze is fine as are all lubricants in the engine so I'm at a complete loss why it won't even turn over. Hope someone might be able to help Thanks and happy new year to you all!!! -

Problem Carina 2.0i E, 1992 22 Nov 2005 (Forum)
I currently own a 2 litre carina with 40,000 miles on the clock and it now has what sounds like a clonking problem. The car runs fine, sounds sweet and economy is brilliant. But, whenever I change gear or accelerate/deaccerate, I hear a clonking noise from what seems to be under the car somewhere at the back. It is getting a lot more noticable now. -
road tax query 6 Nov 2005 (Forum)
on the 31st of oct I found a reminder to tax a car for 1st oct, oops been running a month without tax disc, however I managed to tax it online at 11.30pm having used the 14 days grace and a bit more taxing it from the 1st oct.does the automatic fine come in to force on the first day of the next month ,in this case november and would the fact that no new style log book/reg document has been issued for this motor have any bearing on this? -

Jaguar xj8 7 Sep 2005 (Forum)
I have test driven the 3.2 but have not tried a 4.0 yet. I do not think an xjr is realistic due to running/service costs and insurance. Does anyone have experience of these cars and have an opinion on whether the 4.0 will perform significantly better than the 3.2 and also whether it will cost a lot more. -
jeep cherokee oil pressure 28 Aug 2005 (Forum)
4 cylinder petrol jeep cherokee 101k miles regularly serviced and running well. Oil pressure is always maintained but when hot and 'pressing on' the oil pressure climbs (flutters) virtually off the clock. It is at its highest when the throttle is rolled off. There are no oil leaks or loss and no oil in the water.
