MOT brake question 21 Sep 2004 (Forum)
My Corolla needs an MOT shortly, and the front Pads are worn, and the discs have some corrosion - how can I tell if they are worn enough to fail an MOT ? The car stops OK (maybe just a little worse than it was from new - now 3 year old, but with 130k on the clock). -

Alloys - Best yet 12 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Today, in Macclesfield, I saw a Ford car, Fiesta or Focus (they are like Chinamen). The back wheels were alloys with a strip of rubber around them, probably 17in. The front wheels were 15in steel with good old fashioned fat tyres. What is the backroom view on the handling and safety? -
Buying/selling registrations.. 10 Dec 2003 (Forum)
What determines if a registration is transferable? If you see someone selling an old pre letter prefix car for restoration. But lets say its a hopeless Austin/Morris something with no history and not worth the time/money to save. Can you scrap it and transfer the plate? How does it work? -
Audi A3 3 Apr 2003 (Forum)
I keep getting conflicting info on whether a 2 year old Audi 1.8T Quatrro has better performance than the 1.8T. or was it just a case of being 4 wheel drive. What Car says the 1.8T has 150bhp and the Quattro 180bhp. Local dealer says no difference. Any thoughts? -
Nissan QX 22 Apr 2002 (Forum)
I am loking for a three year old Nissan QX 2.0 V6 automatic. Unfortunately they almost all have high mileages. Is it realistic to expect a car of this sort that already has 90,000 miles on the clock to cover a further 120,000 over the next eight years without major mechanical problems? -
cheesy pong 7 Feb 2002 (Forum)
But if its cold outside, will the aircon cut in and achieve the objective, please, folks? Despite doing what I've been told, the car still sometimes smells of old socks. -
Shell Optimax 31 Aug 2001 (Forum)
Lets hope this isnt the same, I personally will wait to see how it goes. >> I have just filled up with this fuel. My car specs 98 ron preferred, with 95 minimum. I hope that it improves the performance and economy. I asked the attendant and he said that the fuel is the same as the old stuff, but improved. i.e. it doesn't melt your engine (hopefully). -

If I was to sell my 6 month old Golf GTI 1.8T (UK list 18k) in Jazz Blue with winter pack, cruise and pearl pant, to a dealer, what sort of money would I get? The car is as new, I have another on the way! Cheers Andrew -

Corsa D - Sluggish acceleration on Start Up 2 Jun 2019 (Forum)
Hello, Got a 64 plate Corsa D (probably one of the last D types to be made) which has a 1L petrol engine. Bought it 14 months old and had no major issues with it. it's only done a total of 23000 miles, and only 9000 over the 3.5 years since we have had the car (wife's), Yesterday and today I noticed that on start up the acceleration in 2nd and 3rd gear is sluggish. -

Shuttle 2.3LS - Honda 17 May 2014 (Forum)
How long can I - should I - keep an old Honda? This is a T-reg, so 15 years old now, but it's immaculate and goes beautifully, though it burns a bit of oil. It does local short runs 11 months of the year, but every summer we take it on a European road trip, and cover around 1000 miles in a month. -
2008 Peugeot 308 - 'Expert advice' Peugeot 308 cambelt life 13 Oct 2013 (Forum)
I do wonder if HJ, who should know better, is actually writing this advice which might once have applied to car built during the last century. If you google 'mytimingbelt.com' you will see that Peugeot has caught up with our 12 yr old Ford Focus which advised a change 2 yrs ago. [not done].
