Vauxhall Astra G Diesel (1998 - 2004) - 02 1.7 DTI Misfire when cold 1 Jan 2013 (Forum)
The fault will clear within 20 seconds or so. There are no fault codes, and according to live data the fuel delivery rate increases as it misses (basically I think the ECU is trying to compensate). When hot it's fine. P.S. could this have anything to do with the rev holding/rising to 1500rpm problem? Thanks. -
What 1.6 diesel to buy? 6 Dec 2012 (Forum)
I do 500/600 miles a week and a 2010-2012 five door hatchback diesel fits my needs. What's in important to me in reliability, fuel ecomony, looks and high spec. Budget would be around £14000-$15000 I would like to hear peoples opinions on what type of hatchbacks are out there. I'm not considering VW, Audi, BMW, SAAB, ALFA. -
Lexus IS 220D - Lexus IS lagging below 2000 revs 1 Nov 2012 (Forum)
It has really bad lag below 2200 revs, to the extent it is difficult to drive on steep rds. It also jerks at low revs, once I accelerate over 2000 revs it drives quite normal. Fuel consumption is high, have cleaned the EGR valve and MAF sensor, run a number of cleaners through but sadly no progress. No lights showing on the managment side so please help!! -
All - Coasting-how far can you go? 10 Oct 2012 (Forum)
Yeah, I know driving instructors tell you that your car will fly off the road if you do it but does anyone else coast in a bid to save fuel/spice up slow driving? There's a hill near where I live and starting from the top I managed 1.9 miles as measured on the trip. Then I hit the junction. That's the longest downhill stretch around-and I really wanted to hit the magic 2.0! -

I have sprayed everywhere with WD40 as we've had heavy rain, but nothing has been resolved. -

minimum tread on all season tyres? 29 Feb 2012 (Forum)
I saw some 2nd hand ones that I could get and sell on again but each time you change tyres it's at least £10 per corner, which seems a bit much. I could leave the all season ones one until min tread but won;t they use more fuel due to the heavier weight and tread? -

VW GOLF 1.9 105 bhp TDI - PLUG IN DIESEL POWER UPGRADES 13 Sep 2011 (Forum)
Has anyone had experience with these devices? The companies say these modules increase the power and torque, better fuel economy and less turbo lag. My reason for asking is that I will be towing a caravan and would like to know if installing one of these devices is going to be beneficial and could there be, in the long term damage to the engine. -
Vauxhall Astra - Which engine best for automatic transmission 16 Aug 2011 (Forum)
Specifically want an automatic, but probably can't pay the premium for the diesel version, and only make short journey's anyway with very infrequent motorway miles, so a bit bothered about DPF issues. Thefore want petrol version. Fuel economy aside, Is there much difference between the 1.6 and 1.8 petrol versions in an automatic? .... Have heard that the 1.6 Astra ecoflex is a bit weedy. -

BMW i - Coal fired/nuclear BMW 13 May 2011 (Forum)
The smug ownerstalking extolling the merits of 'pollution free' motoring and the zero rated tax discs. So burning fossil fuels directly in the engine is a climate crime, but creating a wasteful intermediate step to generate electricity makes it quite all right? -
270/320/430 - Mercedes ML 1 May 2011 (Forum)
I am looking at ML's (1999-2003ish). We don't do many miles so am not too bothered with the extra fuel comsumption of a petrol one - and have seen a couple of 430's with LPG conversions and have had gas vehicles before. Does anyone have any advice of what to look for, avoid etc. as I don't really want to get caught with my pants down but I know that the build quality (apparently) isn't up to the usual standard. -
astra 1.9 sri 150 - diesel mpg 13 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Hi, I have just had my 07 astra 1.9 serviced at a local garage (80k miles), and the fuel economy has dropped from 48 ish mpg down to 40mpg. I have contacted the garage and they say they have only changed the oil and all the filters as per service schedule. Can antone think of anything obvious that could have caused this !! -
BMW 2002 E39 525 - loss of power and white smoke 31 Jan 2011 (Forum)
my local garage thought it may be a fuel pump or injector fault. This has happened about 3 times over the last 2 months. -
1997 3.3l Chrysler Grand voyager - Cutting out 23 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Hi i have been having this problem for quite some time now where at any point while driving the car will just die. Then it wont start, you would have to wait upto 20mins to restart. I have checked for spark and fuel and thats all good, but what i have noticed is the cruise control is not working at anytime.I have also checked for any error codes with the ignition key nothing. Could there be a short from the cruise control that is cutting out the the engine? -
2000 Ford Focus CL MK1 (hatch) - Why have different front and rear tyre sizes? 20 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Front wheels are smaller than the rear ones but the previous owner would have had this done and I've no idea why (175/65/14 vs 175/70/14)! Can it affect fuel economy, mileage or performance?
