• Honda Civic UK (2001 - 2005) - 02 1.6 Burning smell from top radiator hose 21 Jan 2010 (Forum)
  After a motorway run I could smell coolant from front of car and an acrid smell from the top hose. There are no obvious leaks, and engine oil is in a clean state. The car has done 41k. Appreciate any informed suggestions.

  Noticed a loss of spray from rear washer nozzle as well are the two connected ??. Where does the washer pipe run ????. any help appreciated cheers Adam

  hi all .i rebuilt a 1.6 focus engine renewing all piston rings and replacing 2 burnt out valves.it now runs smooth but uses quite a bit of oil.now and again it emits a cloud of smoke james bond style but most of the time the exhaust is clean .any ideas why it smokes intermittently and any suggestions as to slowing down oil usage.currently using 5/30 semi synth

  Morning all, bit of a problem, when i first start the truck up in the morning, doesnt matter if its hot or cold outside, i have very little power until the engine is up to normal running temp and even then it still feels lumpy acceleration until the turbo kicks in. Feels like its missing. Any ideas???

  i have a ford mondeo 2.0 tdci 6mt and when cold there is a mis fire only on idle and first thing in the morning it does not like going over 2500 rpm as if it is running out of fuel. i have changed the fuel filter and the air filter and had the injection pump union replaced as it was leaking but none of these have made it better. please help

  Went to get the Chevy out of the garage today for it's fortnightly run and the battery has decided to expire even though it's on a fully automatic charger. The battery is an AC-Delco 75-6YR which has side mounted terminals. I can order one from the US. for about $120 plus shipping but before I do, does anyone know where I can get a replacement or equivalent without paying the ridiculous markup GM UK. expect?

  The power is brilliant when i turn the car off and then back on, but drops off again after a few miles, It Seems to be running on around 60-70% power normally. regards, escortgti

  this is the 1.8 16v none GDI type engine and will not tick over . it will start up and run if you keep the revs at 1000rpm + but let the revs off and it just stops . also the cat rattles inside and sounds like a vibrating or loose exhaust heat sheild but there arnt any fitted . is the cat if faulty enough to cause this type of problem thanks in advance for any answers / advice . neil . in hull .

  the washer pump is not working but the wipers are, im told they run off the same fuse so i need to change the pump. It is a cannister approx 10' tall, located under the o/s/f wheel mudflap i think? Is this easy to change, and why does it look different and much bigger than all the pics of washer pumps on ebay?

  My van just stopped running AA said it could be ECU on back of diesel injection pump. I have had this repaired but it still will not start. Fault code reads P0251 spill valve malfuction (injectior pump). Turns over fine. Has anyone got any suggestions?.

  Googling this suggests that the USUAL sympotms are vehicle cuts out when hot and can only be restarted after cooling for a few hours. However this is the EXACT OPPOSITE for my vehicle ie cuts out cold - runs fine when hot. Can this be right?

  If I slightly move the gas pedal the engine goes crazy. This happend after a long trip I was on. If I push the gas it will now run on full throttle even if I take the key out of the ignition. Has something like this ever hapent to any one? I am guesing a blown turbo leaking oil into air intake?!

  I wouldn't put it past them to try and bump the price up. The car theoretically has another two years warranty to run, but I bet it's pretty selective in what it covers.

  does any body know if a 306 gti6 engine will go into my little saxo vtr 2000 year. i have the full car here (the peugeot) so i have access to all the engine and box ancileries, will i need to get new shafts made up or can i run the engine on the saxo box? its a little project for the sake of passing time.

  My 98 523i wont idle, when first started unless you keep blipping the throttle it just dies, when it gets warm it will sometimes keep running but sounds like its off a pot or 2. Could this be a classic case of idle control valve being stuck? There are no fault codes etc.

  Hi my in laws have a C3 and it has started beeping every so often. There are no warning lights coming on with it. I have tried to replicate it and took it a run round the block. Nearly every time I pressed the brakes, it beeped. But not everytime. When I was sitting in the driveway and elected reverse it beeped. I have checked and all bulbs are working. Anyone any ideas??

  My journey to work is made up of five or six miles chugging through town, 30mph limit and several junctions, followed by five or six miles easy run on a 50mph dual carraigeway. Am I likely to use more fuel going to work - when I do the poor economy part of the journey from cold, or going home, when the car is much warmer when it reaches the stop/start section?

  I found it interesting to note that although I have a front wheel drive diesel the rear tyres have worn slightly more than the fronts, I was expecting it to be the other way around, the difference was only 0.5mm, is this a sign of something or just normal running?
