  • buying ex lease car 15 Oct 2002 (Forum)
Can I check that the leasing company has proper ownership of the car to sell - HPI said it cannot tell me who the actual owner is. Also how do I know whether there is any finance on the car? I'm hoping that as its being sold by a motor company then I have some more protection than buying private in this regard. Any comments would be helpful before I give up my cash!
  • Fiat Panda Co level 15 Aug 2002 (Forum)
As is normal with any big Auto company the website is useless for this sort of info, OK if you want to buy a new car on finance, anything else especially older models and they dont want to know! Thanks in advance. Bill
  • bmw s1000xr - accident claim confusion 25 Mar 2021 (Forum)
I can go with another injury lawyer and let a third party take care of the bike? 5. since the bike is on finance, I am pretty positive if I request the BMW to assess it - they will say hell no, we don't want that back even after pro repair (i may be wrong here, but I don't think it will be financially viable to fix it), so how would that get sorted?
  • Skoda Superb - Cancelling new car order. 12 Feb 2020 (Forum)
The same salesman had added the 2 year sales plan and not explained that it had to be added to the finance plan. I thought that I could pay for it in cash. I spoke to a manager that day who explained that it was a sweetener from the finance company. I was a bit cheesed off but accepted it but this combined with the test drive makes me feel mislead somewhat.
  • VW Polo Gti 2010 - Rejecting my car, liability admitted 5 May 2012 (Forum)
The dealer has given me an endless supply of oil until the matter is resolved but I do not see this as the solution and I am very reluctant to drive the vehicle at all now. I have contacted VW Customer Services, VW Finance and the dealer (again) gave them all a version of this response but all of them have said the same thing, namely VW DON’T have a solution!! I have written up a reasonable timeframe for a repair: • 1 month from today 10th May 2012 – A resolution sort and my vehicle booked in for repair.
  • What car should I buy? 12 Feb 2020 (Forum)
I know next to nothing about cars (except how to drive them) so am looking for expert, or at least well-informed opinions on what I should get next. For the past 3 years I've had a Renault Megane (on finance). It's a fine car, but unfortunately it fails every MOT test, and the payments are now excessively more than the car is worth due to me agreeing to a ridiculous finance offer. Someone suggested I take it back to AvailableCar and work out a deal to end the agreement early since I'm well over halfway through.
  • Skoda Yeti - Dealers telling porkies -how long car on forecourt 10 Oct 2018 (Forum)
I think the first 8 digits indicate the date it was first published - 20180514 (14/05/2018)?? We will be paying about 60% up front and the rest on finance. Paid a £1000 today and signed an agreement with the garage but waiting for finance agreement to come through so haven’t signed any of these documents yet. Now having second thoughts as we have been lied to.
  • Volvo V50 - Need urgent car insurance advice please 5 Sep 2018 (Forum)
One week later i got a report from the insurance company telling me the car was beyond repair and the sequence i had to take, i.e, contact DVLA and put the car in there name, contact the finance company for a settlement figure all of which i did. Now today i had a phonemail saying there engineers had examined the car and it was not a fire but a major failure of the turbo which sent fumes throughout the car and that as such it was repairable.
  • Rover 25 - My story... (need help) 27 Jul 2011 (Forum)
The main thing that is bugging me is the fact that I still owe £3800+ on this car and the GAP insurance that I had taken out didn't cover the cost difference with the finance. It's 3 years later and I am in this debt for a car I no longer have, but would have paid for properly, or even finished paying for it had it been repaired. I am in the process of seeking advice from the Citizens Adviec Beaurau, but I would like to know if anyone else thinks there is or maybe a case here of maybe getting my debt written off.
  • Suzuki Baleno - help - inexperienced daughter wants to drop £8k 25 Aug 2020 (Forum)
Inexperienced daughter wants to put her £3000 savings down on a Baleno SZ3 at a national dealer, and finance the rest, which is £5000..  It's an 18 plate 11000 miles. I won't go through her life story but she thinks the car is an "investment" and has a history of making expensive impulse purchases on shiny things.
  • New Kia Sportage PCP - What checks were made. 18 Feb 2020 (Forum)
When completing the finance form for the order, I was a bit surprised not to be asked for some income details. Basic questions, Name, address, d.o.b. married ? how long at current address, Bank sort code acc number.. No proof of income???
  • Huge Mess - Finace and car insurance 19 Oct 2017 (Forum)
My friend bought a car on finance last year. His GF fell pregnant almost immeditaely and they decided to move in together which meant he couldnt afford to pay for the vehicle. He made agreement to give me full access to the vehicle as long as i paid his installments and lump sum at end of term. at that point he woud transfer car to my name.

  • Legal Ownership 11 Nov 2014 (Forum)
Yesterday I went to another dealer with a view to changing cars and when they ran mine through an HPI check it was flagged as having a 3 year finance deal active on it, started 6 months before I bought the car and still has a year to run.  I have raised this with the supplying dealer, I have had no trouble taxing and insuring the car in the 18 months I have ownsed it and no bailiffs have called, yet.
  • Vauxhall Astra - Dealer protection? 8 Apr 2013 (Forum)
I am also now suspicious that despite there reassurance the vehicle is not clean and there could be outstanding finance on the vehicle. Where do I stand legally? Can I return the vehicle and obtain a full refund under the sales of goods act? And under false information? Surely if they have informed me that the vehicle is clean and clear and it's not this is an act of fraud?
  • Any - Cracking the whiplash 18 Oct 2012 (Forum)
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/insurance/motorinsurance/9609751/Fewer-car-crashes-but-more-whiplash-claims.html We all knew this to be true, but the the scale of the scam is still quite shocking. "Police figures show a 20rise in 3rd party injury claims% fall in the number of accidents involving injuries since 2006, while there has been a 40% " and "the average 3rd party claim now stands at £8400 suggesting that most claim s are for whiplash-like injuries" Surely, it is now time for whiplash to be declared an Act of God, since, like God, whiplash is an intangible entity whose existence cannot be proved?
  • What a load of drivel - Buying a car 5 Oct 2012 (Forum)
I could not believe the interactive talk through with the salesman delivering the car explaining about finance options, interest charges, gap insurance, paint protection etc, all of which had to be replied to yes no or "no response" and the the customer had to sign electronically that he had been asked these questions and was happy with his replies.
  • Registered keeper on V5 for ex-lease cars 11 Oct 2011 (Forum)
The car is just over 3 years old and the lease period has come to an end. I've done an HPI check and there is no outstanding finance. On the V5 document, it has the lease company listed as the present keeper (with no previous keepers). So, there is no evidence that he actually owns the car. I haven't dealt with lease cars before, is this normal or should he be listed as the keeper now the lease period has ended?
  • Audi A4 - Cars coming off lease 11 Mar 2011 (Forum)
So I am now interested in buying a 3 or 4 year old Audi A4 and was expecting to see a fair few coming back from lease or finance companies but I have not seen that many. Have been scouring Autoquake, Carcraft, Autotrader... etc.. Should I be looking anywhere else ?
  • Do the police have targets for breath tests? 19 Oct 2009 (Forum)
They believed him and his story 2. It costs money to test people so they were thinking about the state of the public finances 3. They didn't want a test failure on their records because the more people they catch the better? Just surprises me because I reckon most culprits would say 'I've only had one drink gov'.
