Vauxhall Astra - Dealer protection? - loops
When buying from a dealer do you have any protection? I've recently brought a used VXL astra from an approved VXL dealer. In less than a day of having the vehicle repairs are required and despite calling the dealership they are failing to return my calls. I am also now suspicious that despite there reassurance the vehicle is not clean and there could be outstanding finance on the vehicle. Where do I stand legally? Can I return the vehicle and obtain a full refund under the sales of goods act? And under false information? Surely if they have informed me that the vehicle is clean and clear and it's not this is an act of fraud? Can you please advise on my rights?

You don't detail what those repairs required are, but inder SOGA the onus is on the dealer to prove that the faults were not present at the time of purchase.

So in theory you would have a case.

In terms of any outstanding finance, you say that the dealer tried to reassure you, but that they haven't returned your calls - can't be both.

An approved Vauxhall dealer would carry out a check for outstanding finance before sale. If they didn't then you should have asked them to, or done a check yourself.

Was it a Network Q car?

One gets the feeling you are only telling us part of the story or that you bought in haste without making sensible enquiries.

If you have genuine concerns about repairs required and outstanding finance, take the car back and talk to them properly, don't just ask them to return calls.
