Toyota Yaris 2010 - Multiple ECU faults all at once. Dead car on M6 ! 10 Dec 2018 (Forum)
It's done it a few times in VERY WET motorway driving that it has stumbled and lost power (felt like fuel starvation but hard cuts, proper jerking) ECU light on and then it's fixed itself. Couldn't get to the bottom of it but suspected it was water getting in and interfering electrically somewhere. This time it's totally dead. -
Land Rover Discovery 4 - Restricted performance 25 Sep 2015 (Forum)
Hi, My wife and I bought a used LR D4 at the end on January - diesel, manual and about 83,000 miles. 3/4 weeks ago the Restricted Performance light came on. We have taken it to the local LR dealership and who thought it could be related to the fuel filter or moisture in the fuse box as a seal had broken, both where fixed. circa 350 miles later it happened again. This time the dealership have replaced the "fuel rail pressure", but it has happened again. -
BMW 3-Series E46 (1998 - 2005) - 02 2.0d 320d starting problems 21 Jul 2015 (Forum)
Diagnostics this time threw up a fuel air mixture problem which was either an inlet manifold flapper valve problem of Air Mass Flow meter. On adice the AMF was changed...£335(luckily under warranty)! Fault still apparent. I have been telling them about the primer pump not running seems to be the issue, however, they have been unable to reproduce. -
Ford Focus - Intermittent judder / injector problem 15 Oct 2014 (Forum)
I could hear one of the injectors making a ticking / pinking sound so accept this diagnosis. BTW the problems developed while I was running quite low on fuel, but after filling up (at JET) it seemed to get even worse, before breaking down. Ford garage diagnosed same - one faulty injector, replaced the injector (and fuel filter), but then told me a second inject has also gone immediately. -
Volvo XC60 - VOLVO CHARGES FOR FORD PARTS 22 Jan 2014 (Forum)
However, a replacement from a Ford dealership costs just over £100. I am disappointed to find: 1. Volvo using a fuel pump assembly from Ford which has a known issue, & 2. Volvo charging 3 times the price for essentially the same part. I contacted Volvo to see if, in view of the circumstances, they might make a contribution to the cost of the pump - I have the invoice for the new one and the original is available for their inspection. -
nissan almera - diagnostic tests 27 Dec 2013 (Forum)
On putting it back on the car as soon as car was started the needle started bouncing again and the car felt as though it was still struggling struggling for fuel. Any ideas, suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated. -
Sprinter 311 Cdi - Red Diesel used when I loaned my Sprinter 26 Jan 2013 (Forum)
I have also read that I could admit to HMRC that red has been used in error , admit the amount of miles travelled in vehicle on red and than pay the excess fuel duty...A form from the Post Office ?? HMRC / VoSA will of course want to know where the red came from , impicating the "family friend" as a possible duty tax evader and checks carried out on all his diesel vehicles (he is a motor trader who used red in industrial space heaters . spray booths). -

FIAT Panda diesel - Performance and consumption 17 Dec 2012 (Forum)
Here in rural Wales (no need to sit in traffic queues), the 106 averaged around 70mpg (that's miles travelled divided by fuel used, true mpg) and never did <65. On its first tankful the Panda has done 62mpg, and that's the same 2 drivers on the same routes. It also seems more gutless than the 106 under about 2500rpm, and yet its peak torque is supposed to be at about 1500rpm, about 1000 less than the 106. -
KIA Ceed 2L diesel Sport 3 years old 33,000 miles - No accelerator - loss of power - engine stops 23 Sep 2012 (Forum)
I’m unsure if it’s an engine management problem or a fuel starvation problem. Is it possible to test this to confirm. I wonder if it’s an engine management problem that they will fix it and say it was fuel line and charge me as that isn’t covered by the warranty. -
kia sorento 2011 - kia sorento 2011 dash display gone haywire 16 Apr 2012 (Forum)
but then rectified itself.....but for how long? All the gauges: revs, temp, speedo, fuel, were dead this morning on start up, whilst other functions lit up that shouldn't have - fuel warning light light with almost full tank, headlights full beam when lights off. 4-wheel drive lock when not on, etc etc - these would change at random after a while and switch off, then others like battery and oil would come on for a while then go off. -
Mercedes - Sold a motorhome now guys wants to return it ! 18 Nov 2011 (Forum)
Guy wasnt sure about way home so we offered to let him following to local motorway services to get him on his way and fuel up. After putting in fuel he mentioned to us that the brakes felt a bit shuddery - we told him that we didnt know of any problems with the brakes, the van had not done a great deals of miles since last MOT and had been sitting for some time but all was ok when passed MOT. -
Ford Focus 1.6 Auto 02 plate - EM light, problem fixed twice and back on again 28 Apr 2011 (Forum)
My light came on a few months ago so I phoned my mate who runs a garage, he plugged his computer in and came up with a code regarding the fuel (oxygen sensors). I am not sure what the code was but he said there is 2 of them and one is more common to break than the other. He ordered the part and fixed it the next day - light off. Did seem to be using a lot of fuel so thought there may have been another problem. -

Good small cars? 16 Nov 2010 (Forum)
The Skoda Fabia (1.2 Turbo) is a possibility, but it's very ugly, very heavy, a bit wider, longer than I would like (I'll need to rearrange my garage), and I'm not sure about the fuel consumption. Does anybody know if there are any cars that will be suitable for me? btw my previous car was an 899cc Fiat Seicento and did everything I need. It was very small, very practical, fun, and could get almost 60mpg. -

Volkswagen Golf V (2004 - 2008) - 05 1.6 FSI - Sometimes Lacks Power 15 Apr 2010 (Forum)
-It is not remotely prone to stalling at any time - in fact it's quite happy to pull away at idle. -I've tried 95ron and 98ron petrol - there's negligible difference between them in terms of fuel economy and performance, even after 3 successive tanks of each. -Fuel economy is worse when it lacks power. -Switching off the air-con makes no difference. It's got its first major service (4 years old, 25000 miles) in 2 weeks, which will mean new spark plugs, oil, oil filter and air filter (I need to check what else is included). -
Renault Scenic (1999 - 2003) - 01 1.9 dti - possible change of engine 20 Oct 2009 (Forum)
I currently have a 51 plate Renault Scenic with 1.9 dTi engine. It has what I believe is a problem with the fuel pump or system, and so is a bad starter. The car itself I like (much moreso that the 2003 onwards shape scenic that I have test driven and even more than current or previous Espace models) as I find it very comfortable to sit in and believe it has a good driving position, and I've had this idea that if I'm going to spend £500 on a new fuel pump (which may or may not cure the fault) there is an argument for saying why don't I spend an amount on a new engine (I wish to stick with diesel). -
Lexus GS 300, 430, 460 (2005 - ) - New car, happy with fuel economy !! 4 Aug 2009 (Forum)
I recently bought a 2005 (MK III) Lexus GS300 SE. I fully expected the running costs to be far higher than my previous car (2008 Skoda 1.8 TSi), but decided...
