Mazda 6 - Passenger air bag deactivated 11 Jan 2012 (Forum)
May I also ask, when working at parts of the airbag system i.e. disconnecting and reconnecting plugs under the seat to check they are fitted and not loose and also then using a multimeter to check resistance, I would first need to disconnect the battery completely and let it sit for approx 20 minutes, is that correct? Just I would not want to activate any airbags while checking plugs / readings etc. My next question is whether disconnecting the battery and effectively discharging the system in doing so, will “upset” (if that’s the correct terminology) any of the other parts of the cars electronics? -

Rover 45 2003 1.4 - Am I being ripped off 3 Jul 2011 (Forum)
I picked the car up at 11am, was told that he'd had to jump start it that morning but the drive home would charge it. Got home car would not start.. Jump started vehicle to go buy new battery. Mechanic who was going to fit battery said there was nothing wrong with it. Contacted garage and told them this, was instructed to return vehicle and they would fit a new engine. Four days later engine had been returned to breakers yard where it had been purchased and they would check it. -

I had a friend come round who works in a garage and he checked everything mechanically, and noticed a new battery, electric wires exposed with no covering going into battery ( not frayed or anything, just no plastic heatproof covering that you would expect). Nissan Micra (1992 - 2003) - 97 1.0 Engine flooded and rough idle 30 Dec 2009 (Forum)
The week before xmas, on the first day of snow it wouldn't start, wouldn't even turn over. Got the rescue out and he said the battery was dead and advised a new one. Had a new battery fitted and took it for a run to make sure it was fully charged but due to severe ice on the hill up to the main road I didn't take it out again for over a week, but turned the engine over a couple of tiimes. -
Young at heart 22 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I live in a garage, which I share with some bloke who keeps his lawnmower in there and sometimes plays Jazz Record Requests too loud. But he does keep me clean and makes sure my battery voltage is correct. As a lady I love new things but I can?t persuade anyone to get me a new battery because my original one works fine. I just love it when he switches on the garage compressor because he then messes about with my wheely bits. -
Mazda MX5 (1989 - 1998) - 92 1.6 engine dies when de-clutched 11 Nov 2008 (Forum)
However, a problem has arisen in that recently the engine cuts out when it is de-clutched and twice it would not immediately restart. It seemed as if the battery was flat and would not turn the engine over. If left for 30-40 minutes it restarts ok. I took the car back to the garage that did the cam belt, they did not think it was related to the engine cutting out and suggested replacing the spark plugs and HT leads which was done. -
Car replacement/MOT problem 13 May 2007 (Forum)
1995 N Ford Escort 1.6 LX silver, 96k, full service history last serviced 300 miles ago, worked fine until my dad had to stop driving since an accident but now it won't start, the battery is had it but it won't start with another battery either. Its probably just damp ignition compoments or somthing. 1995 N Fiesta Classic 1.1, 103k, only one service invoice, body work in good condition for age, 1 months MOT, 3 months tax, drives perfectly, camshaft noisy and burns oil. -
Peugeot/Citroen TD / XUD starter 10 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Do up the top two bolts together, and then the lower bolt. Reconnect the two wires on the starter, replace the air filter box and pipes, and reconnect the battery. Job done. Should take about an hour to an hour an a quarter if you are a novice like me. -
Mondeo Diesel run dry 17 Sep 2006 (Forum)
A neighbour has parked a car facing uphill with 5 litres in the tank. Tried to start car but would not start , ran battery flat, then asked me for help. I deduced the problem was probably the incline and told him to go on the main road on the flat where we tried to start it again we had one spark of life from the engine then nothing. -
Any - Listening to the radio while parked 28 Aug 2024 (Forum)
If the car is put into Ready To Drive mode, the radio will stay on, with the engine firing up occasionally to keep the batteries charged up. I hate supermarkets and prefer to stay in the car while my wife gets the shopping. Does anyone have a way around this, and do pure EVs behave in the same way?
