  • Volvo C30 (2006 - 2009) - 08 2.4 electric power steering-loss of assistance 22 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Incidentally the car is barely 2 months old with 1000 miles on the clock.
  • Air Con fault - trader dodges warranty claim 29 Jun 2008 (Forum)
The trader just says "not my problem, sold as seen, and there is no warranty" IMO this is ridiculous, I bought it as a private individual, surely it's his fault, there is nothing on the paperwork saying sold as seen, fair enough it's 3 months later but I would expect an A/C to last at least 8 years (that's how old my car is)
  • Anyone Brought from Manhiem or BCA 14 May 2008 (Forum)
Hi, Has anyone brought a car from manhiem in wimbledon or BCA Blackbushe / Paddock Wood. Looking to buy a diesel, Not having much luck with private / dealers, All have been old , high miles, scruffy. So thought i'd give the Auctions a go.
  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 2000 (v reg) HDi - Ignition Problems 23 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Posting for a friend. 2000 V Reg HDi {This should have been included within the subject header, as per the 3 separate requests to do so!} Sometimes when returning to the car it just won't start and you can leave it then it starts. When this first happend the fuel pump was replaced had the car back for a day and it happend again anyway about 8 months ago the car was so called fixed apparently the problem was a little red button on the top right of the engine bay?
  • Speedometer size and position on the dashboard 16 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Why do modern cars have such small speedometers when speed cameras are springing up like mushrooms?. It used to be that speedos were right in front of you as per my old Volvo and Mercedes C class. Now I have to drive a BMW (the wifes') that has an unreadable speedo and you are never sure of your speed.
  • Suzuki Ignis- shifting to neutral itself 6 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I'm furious - bought the car just 10 days back from Suzuki delaer. Already started trouble. Previous owner was an old lady - so it is unlikely to be driven hard. :(
  • Charged for having a paper licence. 8 Jun 2007 (Forum)
My girlfriend took her car for a main dealer service yesterday. As the staff were processing her details to let her have a courtesy car, she presented her old paper driving licence and was told, "Ah, sorry there is a £6 admin charge if you do not have a photocard licence."
  • Nissan Micra - disposing of? 12 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Apart from the engine and a couple of minor dents on the body work, the car is in fairly good condition. The tyres were on for less that a year and the battery was only four months old. Does anyone have any ideas about the best way of disposing of it and getting some money back?
  • Insurance Scam?? 3 Mar 2007 (Forum)
It took them 2 weeks to get the parts, but they were in stock (I checked) for 2-day delivery at the manufacturer's part centre. Then they took another week to fit them. And when I got the car back, they did not even replace the washer bottle but I was charged for it (and laboutrtoo): the old one's still in the car ('cos it's still covered in road muck, and is still dented after the accident).
  • New towcar - Hyundai or Kia 31 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I'm not put off by the foot activated parking brake either as I've had Citroen XMs in the past. HJ's car-by-car breakdown is helpful but the Caravan Club Tow Car of the Year mentions the Santa Fe parking brake not holding on a 17% hill and some "instability" towing. Then there's the question of old Sorento versus new Sorento.
  • £500 banger... 1 Jun 2006 (Forum)
I have this crazy idea that I should get an old (probably pre-1993) E34 BMW - well just because I can, really. Insurance is an issue but is surprisingly sensible on an older car. Any suggestions as to what I should look for a. in an E34; b. instead of an E34.
  • Fiesta '96(P) 1.8D takes ages to start! 10 Feb 2006 (Forum)
If its too involved then I'll just put up with it. After all its a 10 year old car that maybe I'm expecting too much of! Cheers, Mark.
  • Car recommendation for my fair lady 31 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Important 'cos the shorter length would be easier for her to cope with, living in Laaandan. My budget is 4000grand. Could buy old Grand Vitara, but Rav4 out of reach I think. Honda CR-V to big. HR-V too expensive still. Freelander unreliable right? Any other ideas.... thanks in advance. And steer clear of a small 4x4 with P plates soon...
  • Audi A4 Climate Control 11 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I have a 14 month old A4 which is a great car apart from the following annoying issue with the CC. When the car is warming up and the CC is set to say 20 degrees and in 'Auto' mode, the air from the vents just gets hotter and hotter until all of a sudden it decides the temp has been reached and the airflow becomes cool.
  • It all boils down to which Mondeo!!! 5 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Ok looks like getting a recent car with some serious oomph that handles amazingly well is gonna be out of my price range. I need a car pretty quickly, and I can't be bothered to scout all over the country looking at used cars. Oh no, looks like the prime contender is gonna be a Ford Mondeo.
  • Jazz - overpriced or good buy? 11 Aug 2005 (Forum)
As my 11 year old Corsa has given up the ghost I'm looking for a 'new' car. The Jazz ticks all the right boxes for what we're looking for and the reliability looks second to none. I was hoping to go for a recent 2nd hand one but the high prices of those suggest you may as well get a new one, especially as I'm after the current '05 spec.
  • Does your car have legal tints? 3 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Colleague of mine picked up his newly purchased two year old PT Cruiser on Monday. On the drive back on the A11 from the dealer he was pulled over by the law and told that the heavily tinted side windows may not pass new regulations introduced January this year.
  • Gutless A4 110 Tdi 4 Nov 2004 (Forum)
After finding and reading some other threads I have just been out and disconected (what I think is) the MAF sensor and taken the car for a spin. It's just as gutless and takes circa 15 seconds to go from 60 to 70 in 5th on level ground. I have given up putting the car into main dealers for repair as too expensive and now over 3yrs old so out of warranty.
  • Need a fiat tipo diesel pump, 1.7 1993 4 Nov 2003 (Forum)

  • New Jag XJ - Best Car in the World? 4 Jun 2003 (Forum)
JC, on Top Gear on Sunday, put as strong a case for the Jaguar as he did for I K Brunell - and I tend to agree with him on both - IK {Brunell} and the XJ {Jag} He appears to say that the Jag is better than anything Merc, Audi or BMW etc have to offer. So is the XJ still 'The Best Car In the World' as the Series I Jag was named by the motoring press over 30 years ago? I tend to think so - but I'll never know, can't even afford the 8 year old £6k example that he talked of! If i turned up at a Jaguar Dealers in my 1991 Volvo Estate, would they give me a 24 hour test drive in an XJR ????????????
