Fading Diesel 8 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Is this really likely to be enough to fade it out even at 2-3000rpm or am I looking for something else as well?. And it was only in the garage for 144k cambelt and MoT (passed, no mention of a fuel leak) on Thursday. Comments? Thanks in anticipation. Simon -
Hesitant Nissan Sunny 1 Apr 2001 (Forum)
Hello I am the lucky owner of a 1993 Nissan Sunny 1.4 LX with 60k its a good car except for a slight hesitancy when moving off - occuring at about 1500 rpm. I have replaced all the usual suspects, this car has a Cat although it is not fuel injected in the conventional sense. I am worried about the possibility of unburned fuel harming the cat. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the cause might be, I have heard that there is a similar fault in a Primeras of this age Best Regards Jamie -

Audi A6 2.7 tdi - Warranty - Petrol Contamination 24 Sep 2011 (Forum)
At this point the car was taken to an Audi dealers who diagnosed petrol contamination in the diesel (requiring a filter and fuel change and fuel tank clean but...."This isn't under warranty as it's not a failure of the car! " It was interesting that when I tried the car out, it was extremely low on fuel and the salesman put a very small amount in whilst on the test. -
Any - Bio-diesel 3 Oct 2010 (Forum)
He related an incident that he had recently with his new diesel vehicle when refuelling at quote a major supermarket netwrok that sells its own brand fuel unquote. They sell the new ultra-low-sulphur-diesel mandated by the EU for next year, including the bio-fuel proportion. His problem appeared to be that his car fuelling pipe kept blowing back and triggering the handpiece shut-off, so he went back to the supplier and complained. -
Nissan Primera III (1999 - 2002) - 01 2.0 Fuel economy has nose dived - ideas? 18 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Obviously sounds likely to be some kind of air leak in vacuum, egr or induction system but could this be causing the fuel consumption problem? It's due a full service of air, fuel filters, spark plugs, oil etc possibly HT leads and I will investigate the hissing noise. The distributor cap and rotor arm were replaced 6 months ago. -
FIAT Punto II (1999 - 2006) - 1.9D, the old smoker, quits in time for MOT.. 4 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Put it in for MOT this AM and it was massively under the max smoke limit. Questioning SWMBO, she has switched garages last year, now filling up with a different fuel near her work instead of the well known (also) major fuel brand (normal derv, not extra priced) we have have used for years. That`s a real shocker as I don`t believe in any of this, or fuel additives but that`s the only variable from previous years. -
Why the huge jump in diesel performance 22 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Mods - feel free to move to the Technical forum if you wish, but to me this was more a Discussion item. In simple terms, add some electronic gubbins, whack up the turbo boost, wind up the fuel injection pressure to some giddy value, and hey presto you have a high performance diesel that'll tow the QE2 from 30-70 in no time flat, stay there all day, and use an egg cup of fuel in the process. -
