Is this a weird fantasy? 11 Sep 2008 (Forum)
I was recently left without a car as the old one died, so a few weeks shopping around and eventually got a great deal, however, two of the cars I viewed were: 1998 Rover 620 and 1995 Lexus LS400 - both of which were ready to die also. -
Family car for £4000 11 Dec 2003 (Forum)
Can anybody give me some advice? I am looking for a 2nd family car for approximately £4000. I have so far narrowed my selection down to: Ford Mondeo (Petrol) Citroen Xantia (Diesel) Vauxhall Vectra (Petrol or Diesel) Nissan Primera (Petrol or Diesel) I want the car to be no more than 4 years old and I am not too fussed about the mileage, so long as there is a FSH and the car is in good condition. -
Insurance- car not owned 11 Jun 2003 (Forum)
I know the usual old chestnut: My insurance says I can driver a car belonging to someone else (TP only cover), but what this really means is that car ALSO has to have insurance. However, I have just noticed that my new Tesco insurance, while saying the usual bit about driving another car not owned or hired etc, explains in the policy that this only applies if ? -
Skoda Roomster Se TSI 86bp - The first new car purchase 16 Jun 2013 (Forum)
This is my first post on this site so hi to all. My wife has just come into a little money and she decided to spend some on a new car. We have two medium sized dogs and are fed up with having the back seat down on our 11 year old Micra to accominadate them. So have a look on web sites to se what is arround at prices we could afford and found Honest John and looked at all the reviews. we whittled it down to the following Hyundai Ix20 mini MPV, Kia Venga, Skoda Fabuia Estate and the Skoda Roomster. -
Limited info to choose a new car for Mrs H 29 Aug 2009 (Forum)
I can't believe you'd even consider buying me something that horribly ugly. Listen to me, I want a SPORTS car. I've done the family car thing to death. I don't need 4 doors. And get over this ridiculous obsession you have with Citroens. I want a sports car that's not a Citroen; and that's bright red; and that turns heads. -

Mazda 2 - Battery replacement 11 Dec 2021 (Forum)
Car is just 11 months old and only 3.5 miles on the clock. It's used every day and is garaged overnight. Left the office as usual at 5pm but car wouldn't open with the remote (keyless entry/start). Used the manual key to open the driver's door. -
FT: Insurers examine cutting premiums for greener 24 May 2021 (Forum)
What is the cost of making this new Tesla versus the cost of continuing to use the same car?. It is n't just the carbon footprint of runing the car, but also manufacturing it. It my car is well made, because it has more steel then a car made today with more plastic, which is better? -
Honda Civic ES 1.8 - Honda P2040 code 22 Jul 2019 (Forum)
They reset so the symbol disappeared and mentioned I might need a new catalytic converter if the problem persisted.. The car is 6 years old and 90000 on clock. I run it well nearly every day. This morning I tried to accelerate and the car lost a little power and the check engine symbol started to blink. A few hours later when I drove the car, the symbol stopped blinking and the car had regained full power. -
Nissan Almera - Daughters Car Accident 3 Jun 2017 (Forum)
My daughter had an accident when she was driving from her drive down the road and passed two parked cars when a car reversed blindly from his drive and hit my daughter on the rear wheel arch. My daughter had right of way. The guy entered into her path. It wasnt even the front of the car but the rear of the car. -
Timeless car action scenes 14 Sep 2016 (Forum)
Bullitt and The (original) Italian Job are most likely the greatest car movies of all time, but there are countless car chase/crash scenes which will always be remembered. Any thoughts for a top ten? For utter hair raising madness, the car - train chase in French Connection is an all time classic. -
Any - "More Than" car change charges 4 Mar 2016 (Forum)
They said it would be £22 to change the details via them and suggested she waits until tomorrow to see if the system lets us do it for free on the renewed policy. Luckily we Sorn'd the new car when she bought it, pending sale of the old car, so waiting a day is not a major issue. I appreciate insurance is now aggressively priced so they have to get their money somewhere (premium is only £171) but is it now common industry practice to charge for simple changes? -
Narrowed car choice down to 3 - any opinions? 10 Mar 2015 (Forum)
I'm looking for a car to replace my old Mazda 3 petrol. The engine itself is flawless (it's on 105k) but the arches are starting to rust badly and for some reason it upsets me to see rust on my car since I take such good care of it. -
ML 320 cdi 2007 - gear change failure 31 Dec 2014 (Forum)
There was no warning here apart from the sharpness on engaging gears in the pub car park as described. The car has only done 36K miles but is 7 years old and I wonder if you can tell me as to how common this problem is and should I be looking out for anything else that may happen as a result or will I be back to motoring normality? -
Audi TT - car showing as an insurance marker stolen 13 Jul 2014 (Forum)
One of my friends has purchased the above 10 year old vehicle and now has run a check and a marker has come up as insurance marker stolen. The marker is from over two years ago and when she has contacted the person that she bought the car from he said that when he bought the car from the previous owner it was declared to him that it had been taken with the keys but returned by the police. -
Citroen Berlingo Multispace - category c do i need to get it repaired? 25 Dec 2012 (Forum)
Hi A car bumped into another car which then shunted forward into my car whilst i was waiting at the traffic lights. The person who caused this accident has admitted full liabability. It is just light crease damage on an internal floor and side panel and no damage to the outside of the car and they categorised it as C due to the cost of the repair. -
Ford Mondeo - dealer sales conditions. are they normal 25 Sep 2010 (Forum)
What's it for? The car will not come with any road tax. It's being used at the moment, so why no tax? Don't most cars like this come with at least some tax? Also, they've not tried any of the old "have to decide today to get this price". -
any - Driving without MOT - what are the restrictions 22 Jun 2010 (Forum)
My first car, an old 89 escort, has been sat in my parents driveway, much to their embarassment, for a few years now because I have had several newer cars but just cant bring myself to sell "maggie". Now, I live about 80 miles away form there but have decided to put the car back on the road, the problem is, of course, that it first needs to be taxed and MOT'd. -
Nissan Micra (2003 - 2010) - Multi Quote Car Insurance Woes 14 Feb 2010 (Forum)
My folks purchased a new Nissan Micra Tekna 1240cc Automatic (on a 59 plate) late least year with a scrappage offer (despite now seeing their old car on the road since). However, their insurance now needs renewal and their existing company seems expensive. I have had a look at several price comparison sites and some other direct sites and they don?
