  • Citroen C4 Picasso - DPF and sensor issue 3 Apr 2021 (Forum)
The garage also told me that a client of theres who was a motoring journalist had exactly the same problem which was fixed under warranty when he rejected their arugument that the two issues were not related, The garage tells me that the sensor is expensive so i'm reluctant to replace before i'm sure but i find that a car with only 34000 should have this issue.
  • Ford Galaxy (2006 - ) - 07 1.8 Rear Door Handle & Trim Falling off 2 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Just so you know, the door handle is electronic, so it is not supposed move as such but you grip the handle to put it upwards. The car is about 13months old and still has 2yrs of the warranty left. When I contacted my local dealer (who I purchased the car from), they were not sure if this problem would be covered by the warranty - stating that trim is only covered in the first year???
  • Hyundai i30 - bought a used Hyundai 2009 having some problems 25 Sep 2017 (Forum)
I recently bought a used 2009 Hyundai i30 from a used car dealer. Having had the car for 2 weeks now I've noticed some problems. 1. The coolant in the reservoir is black however the coolant in the radiator is a pale orange colour.
  • Citroen Xsara Picasso - Consider buying or walk away? 17 May 2013 (Forum)
After looking at a few older models and Desires we've decided to go for an Exclusive and our budget of £3k will get us an 06 plate...but there really aren't many around.  We can't travel too far as we have twin toddlers who are a handful! This particular one has low mileage (64,000), FSH with Citroen dealer and extended warranty til Feb 2014 (can be transferred to us).
  • Ford Focus - Up in smoke.... Some advice please 28 May 2015 (Forum)
Should it not be covered under a used car warranty? My friend and their father feel like they are being treated badly and I agree.
  • Any - Dealer Satisfaction when ordering next car 6 Jan 2012 (Forum)
With the various issues I have had with my car since purchased, all fixed under warranty i must add, and the fact that I have been more than satisfied with the car in the past 18 months, I am less than satisfied with the main dealer for things other than the warranty, ie service parts not available, (no air filter in stock) a problem getting hold of a spare key, but sorted when I made a 140 mile round trip to another dealer here in south wales who had the key in stock and was kind enough to knock £30 off the cost which was enough to pay for the fuel used.
  • BMW 320D Injection Fuel Pump 15 Apr 2003 (Forum)
My car is two years old and has covered 35,000 miles, I use Shell diesel and most of my jouneys are motorways. Early this year the fuel pump had to be replaced along with some damaged parts - timing guardrail.
  • Suzuki Swift 06 1.3 - Newbie - Car servicing help please! 16 Mar 2010 (Forum)
Hi all, My first post here - hope it's in the right place! My car is in need of a service & MOT, the first ones not covered by the warranty. My car has done nearly 37,000 miles, and had its last service this time last year. In the past I've used the dealer, but they seem rather expensive - certainly everyone I work with says so.
  • EU will force you to use main dealer 31 Dec 2008 (Forum)
They have already been lambasted for over priced and poor quality service so the EU in their wisdom want to stop us choosing where we take our car for repair! I assume the disappearing legislation is something to do with block exemption coming to an end In my opinion the car repairs industry needs to be competitive.
  • Nissan Pathfinder - Gearbox failed after 5 days fair wear and tear? 16 Dec 2014 (Forum)
The background is that I bought a second hand Nissan Pathfinder on 8 Nov, sadly the gearbox failed on the 14 Nov. The dealer took the car back on 20 Nov 14, and I have now discovered he has used the warranty that he sold me to fund repairs of the vehicle. As part of the process the warranty company sent out an engineer to assess the damage.
  • Cheap New Cars - advice needed 25 Oct 2001 (Forum)
I have just been to a car dealer that sells a range of new and used cars (not a main dealer) The bloke tried to get me interested in a brand new Fiat Bravo 1.2 SX 16v for £7,000. The list price of this car is about £10,500.
  • Clutch warranty claim - Maker will dispute 20 May 2012 (Forum)
However, they want me to commit to pay for the new clutch & fitting (approx £1500-2000) - they say they will want to examine the failing clutch before any admission of a faulty component. They have suggested that the clutch failure is due to mis-use i.e. holding the car on inclines using the clutch rather than the brakes. This is a ludicrous suggestion on three counts firstly, I simply do not follow this practice and never have in 10+yrs of owning cars with auto boxes; secondly, I live and drive almost entirely around Warwick where, as anyone who knows the area will confirm, there are precious few inclines where you can hold your car whether on the clutch or brakes.
  • Buying imports from Channel Islands 25 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I'm very tempted to buy a car from a dealer who imports 'nearly new' cars (just a few months old) from the Channel Islands. They are apparently used mainly as hire cars and have just a few thou miles on the clock, they come with the balance of the manufacturers warranty (so usually about 2 to 2.5 years) and the dealer registers and supplies UK plates.
  • Seat Leon Reliability 2 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Looking to buy a second family car and decided on a medium hatch. Have been offered a Leon 1.6S on a Y plate and know previous owner. Looking at various Car Survey websites though, the Leon looks to be nothing but trouble. Water leaks are well known and this car has had new door and boot seals under warranty.
  • Volvo S90 - Oil dilution/DPF 23 Jul 2023 (Forum)
It further transpires that Volvo dealer  and or Vlvo UK are saying it is down to driving style.  The car is used at night as a executive tax and does on average 100 miles per shift in South West London/ Surrey.  The car has done 10 k miles since purchased and has 6 months of warranty remaining.  The first issue was reported within 30 days.
  • Honda Civic - Brake Wear 6 Mar 2012 (Forum)
Why would the rear discs corrode and not the front on a regularly used car? Should the rear discs be covered by warranty? Thanks in advance. Durelli.
  • valeting/scratches 23 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Just wondering what the consenus was with regard to car cleaning products. What is considered to be essential when cleaning a car properly (obviously a bucket and sponge).I have read reports of clay bars being used to thoroughly clean the paintwork prior to polishing, something I had never heard of.Prices vary greatly from products Halfords stock to "high-end" products that can cost £50 for a small tub (i.e. carnauba wax).Just curious to see if the stuff I am buying is a waste of time if I am looking for a "showroom" finish.I used o use Auto Glym and was happy with that but is it really any better than Turtle Wax products??

  • New Panda misfire 9 Nov 2005 (Forum)
On first driving off on cold mornings my New Panda with the 1.2 petrol engine seems to misfire just for a few seconds. As this engine is also used in the Punto, if there is a common fault I'm sure someone out there will be aware of it. OK, I know the car is under warranty and I could ask the dealer to look at it but it would be hard to reproduce the fault and if I can go to the dealer and say "I believe this fault is due to a faulty x, y or z" then I know I will get a lot further towards solving the problem.
