• 2008 Renault Clio Initiale - Loud bang from drivers side then loose steering 10 Sep 2021 (Forum)
  Hello! I was parked stationary on a side kerb yesterday. I started the car as normal and turned the steering wheel to the right to dismount the kerb. I then heard a loud bang/pop from the front drivers side. Checked tyres etc everything seemed to be fine.

  I own this car for 6 months with no issues. 4 days ago I want to mecanic to change timing belt and water pump. Everthing was fine. But today when i was preparing to park my car, a massage came with " engine malfunction". And everytime when I trun on the engine same message coming but no limp mode or any other problema. Actually the car drives very well like always.

  On start all lights go out, occasioanly the light will come on and does not go off until the car is parked and restarted. It seems to run fine, and there is no difference engine running wise before its on or - when it comes on. I have read that the light can come on for lots of reasons, the Haynes manual I have bought for this car is singularly useless on this and I have searched the site for any clues...

  I was given a vehicle by my son which I parked on private land, I went on the DVLA website to put it on Sorn but it would not let me as it siad it was taxed until 01st Jan 2016, then I had first contact from the DVLA out of the blue demanding I pay a fine for not insuring my vehicle, I have wrote them explaining the situation, but they say im in the wrong, I have had two V5s sent to me where they have messed up the date when I was suppose to have registered it and prior they messed up the date on my sons V5 when he owned it, and despsite me having the vehicle in my name, it still wont let me put it on SORN and my son has recieved no refund!

  Hello, The alarm/immobiliser on my Renault Clio has decided to declare war on me. Without any provocation at all, the alarm decided to sound today (while the car was parked in the drive). It was driven earlier in the day and was fine. How rude. I couldn't turn the alarm off with either keyfob. I had to disconnect the battery to silence it. Then, after reconnecting the battery, the immobiliser wouldn't deactivate, so now the car won't start... :-( I also noticed a clicking relay noise... a bit like the relay sound that you hear when the indicators are operating, but this was much faster...

  The main reason I feel this is not linked to the starter motor or switch. Left the vehicle parked outside my house when the fault occured. After an hour or so the car started with no problems and continued to start.   RAC could start the vehicle by towing it . Any suggestions please?

  It's had a new O/S ball joint and a new O/S droplink. It also klunks a bit when turning at low speeds - parking etc. Any ideas what this could be and how to correct it? One more thing - I think I have a glow plug out as it's a bit lumpy when started from cold and after a bit of revs it's fine. Will it do a lot of damage to run it like this until I can change them Cheers

  Why is this so. The part does no appear to be broken and this happens only after a drive and when park. Have removed the large hose under the inlet manifold and there are no cracks in the pipe!! Stevie

  Moved into my new home 14 months ago. Last owner but one who left here 2 1/2 years ago keep getting parking tickets and speeding fines tax reminders etc. Now there getting bailift letters to this address. I keep sending back letters with "not at this address return to sender" on them, i have phoned police and dvla who say they can do nothing.

  it was more of a really fast whirring noise almost like the starter motor isn't catching. The starter motor is fine though as the car jumps forward when you try to start it in gear. Petrol is definately getting through and fuel pump seems to be working alright. Also getting a spark but I changed the plugs for good measure. i have also cleaned all the electrical connections as shown in the haynes manual, all relevant earth points look fine.

  Why would that cause the catalyst light ?? The drive belt is going round fine. It had a new catalyst and oxygen sensor about 1,000 miles ago when I bought it. It has actually passed the MOT fine - went through the emissions OK the car only gets used in the summer for days out, long trips to countryside, and is in storage a lot of the year under a cover so kept dry.

  If I get to a corner, and put my foot on the clutch, the revs just drop and it dies, unless I slowly let the revs come down to about 1k manually. This only happens when it is cold, then it seems fine. If I have no load on the engine, i.e. just parked in the driveway, then the engine runs up to 6k rpm without any hesitation and it sounds perfect. To exclude the EGR, I blocked it off, and it is exactly the same symptoms, and no engine light, or error codes from the ECU.

  Fine when 1st started runs ok for about 4 minutes then power goes, odd day it's ok. 3 days ago it was fine and it went to manchester and back ok. 250 miles, would not start next day!! If you try to start it and it won't give it a couple of minutes then it most times will start, best if drivers door open and stand out side and turn the key.

  Some of you may remember my earlier post about a parking ticket that a recently got. I wrote a letter to the council pleading my case which they 'rejected' as I exptected them to. Well like a good tax paying member of society (or a mug) a paid the fine.

  Hi Something really wierd has started to happen ( this morning) Bit of a electrical problem happened after i jet washed the car, but has never happene before, and i requarly take it to the jet wash 1st, I noticed that the drivers side heated mirror, dosent heat up. however the position adjustment controls work fine. but the passenger one works fine And Normally when you go to switch dipped lights on, on the indicator stalk, you would select the switch to Sidelights and then to dipped (and the dipped indicator on the dash would illuminate).

  It was fine for a few days, then one morning it wouldn't start again. We had parked it away our driveway so we had the car towed back to our mechanic. He changed the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor. He kept the car at the garage to over night and tried the engine the next morningto prove it would work when the engine is cold.

  She duly received a Notice of Intended Prosecution with the alternative of a Speed Awareness Course. My wife has been driving for almost 50 years and has never previously had so much as a parking ticket. At 72 she did not feel a Speed Awareness Course was necessary or appropriate and elected to pay the fine. She did not expect the additional £60 loading on both our insurance policies and I understand this will apply for the next five years.

  Hi, I have a Corsa C 53 reg (2003) 1.0l 12v The car drove fine, I parked up and 3 hours later it will not start. Breakdown said fuel pump was knackered but I have disproved that - i think. The car turns over fine, all of the instruments work normally. The yellow car light with a spanner in is showing in the dash when turned to position 2.

  My 2015 model which has done 30k suffers from rough idling when in Park and neutral. It's not all of the time but it happens often, say 8 to 10 times a day (car is a taxi).  What I have noticed is that when this happens and I pull away in 1st or reverse there is clutch judder and it's significant.
