• citroen xantia - Citroen xantia sudden battery drain 3 Jul 2015 (Forum)
  Parked in supermarket car park in the shop about an hour came out and there was no power in the battery at all completely dead had a jump start got home checked the car about 15 min later dead again. Charged battery and no problem since had battery checked nothing wrong no electrical shorts, any idea what could have caused this?

  Battery Leakage seems to be an ongoing problem with this model - ours is a 55 plate Tdi. Having scanned through a number of internet discussions, I've come to the conclusion that  for someone with very little in the way of a technical brain, the safest option is to invest in a spare battery and keep it in the boot (a tip from an internet sufferer).

  So... The battery had died 8v remaining because my mother had been in hospital and she could not drive for a while... I opened the bonnet, locked the doors with fob, disconnected the battery, closed the bonnet, charged the battery overnight (hence why i locked the doors)...

  How do i go about getting into the car to open the bonnet, or just get under the bonnet and charge the battery??

  I have a 2001 Peugeot 106 and for some time the battery warning light has been flickering or constantly on whilst driving. I have checked the battery connections which are fine and the battery is not flat. I have checked the alternator belt and this is fine and am aware that it could be the alternator itself.

  The owner told me afterwards that it had been useing distilled water quite a bit in a couple of cells. New battery time £37.73 later and a nice new heavy duty ( Auto ) 4 year warrantee battery. I bet that does not last 11 years. Always nice to help someone.

  I have recently purchased a Nissan Primera, and shortly after buying it started to notice a smell of rotten eggs. Basically the cause of this was the Alternator overcharging the battery, which started to dry it up and emit this smell. I got the alternator changed, and replaced the battery with one from another working car. The smell dissappered immediately. 2 weeks on, I popped open the bonnet and noticed that the tray holding up the battery, and the rod holding in place the battery, seems to be covered in what looks like dried up battery fluid (white,greyish in colour and flaky) Any ideas of what the cause of this could be, it's baffled me.

  So we replaced it and it was then running fine. Two days ago the same thing happend, again we had it tested to find this time it was the battery and again this was replaced. We then took the car for a run and with lights, wipers and fan on found the battery to be draining yet again? Does anyone have any suggestions? Did we need a battery?

  The day after same thing happened, battery was dead. We asked the shop to switvh the battery for us which they did (incase we had a faulty one) the car started however we can see something is draining the battery (my husband tested the battery as he is an electrician) We are stumped - has anyone come accross this before?

  Scary stuff for me, I did leave it for 3 months from end of August until end of November with the battery still connected and it started frist time. Should I try it for 12 months?I do have a battery charger and a friend who can charge my battery from his car should I need to.

  I can't find any interior lights stuck on, or anything else that might be draining the battery. Q1. Is there anything else I need to check which might be responsible for these symptoms, or should I bite the bullet and replace the battery? Mrs Ed is getting fed up with helping me to jump start.

  If you search the internet, there are lots and lots of posts telling of issues starting hybrid cars, in my case a Yaris Cross, where the 12v battery voltage is too low.  The AA want to sell you a new battery and starts the car, telling you to visit your dealer. The dealer, charges the battery, says it passes all Toyota checks and you pay £30 for the privilege only for it to happen again soon afterwards.

  When asked how car started on old useless battery a long silence and explanation that' AH well the battery was fully charged but would not hold its charge and Mercedes special test equipment advised replacement.' Have I been truly stuffed. Old battery shows exactly same lights as old one ie.charged over 12 volts

  Having limited knowledge of engines, I was wondering for any views on the following point. As we are now seeing the colder weather and shorter days, batteries are taking the hammer with, heated screens, mirrors, seats, lights being used more etc. My commute is relatively short at 3miles each way and I am usually doing 30ish mph. I always try to give the car a decent run once a month at this time of year to help the battery have a good charge but I was wondering if I travelled in 4th gear rather than 6th this would assist the alternator to keep the battery charged (Greater engine speed).

  Hi its come to that time where ive got to replace my battery in my ford focus 1.8tdci 52 (2003). It been wondering what battery ti choose from, the spec on th etop of my battery states its 60Ah, 12V, 540Amps with fit 075. It also states in my handbook that i must replace it with a calcium based one.
