  • Post crash insurance query 24 Aug 2004 (Forum)
The back end of my car has been severely dented by a lorry. I was stopped on the M4 and he ran into me. The car is seven years old with 140K on the clock, I cannot think that the insurers will sanction a repair, I feel it is not economic.
  • Why can't I sell my car? 25 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I got my new Fiesta back in September/October and ever since I have been trying to sell my old car. The car is an X reg Nissan Micra S in Silver. I am advertising it at near enough book price - £3400. The car has only done 23,000 miles and is in near perfect condition. I have spent close to £250 on Autotrader adverts and another £50 on an MOT to help it sell.
  • Car Washes and stupid people.. 1 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Are the teeth all a standard size, if not how do I know which one to get ? Where do I get one ? There isn\'t enough of the old one left to use as a pattern, or at least not left on the car. Although if you are using a car wash near Loughborough and it beats hell out of your car with a bent and twisted lump of metal which might once have been an aerial, then I think I might know why.
  • SEAT Arona auto 115 horsepower 1.0-litre petrol - Timing belt change 9 Jan 2025 (Forum)
My car will be six years old in June 2025 and I plan to get it MOT'd and serviced at the same time. It will have done approx. 21000 miles by then. I have considered having the timing belt changed but there is conflicting information as to whether this is needed.
  • Honest John's Motoring Agony Column 06-07-2019 Part 1 7 Jul 2019 (Forum)
Even when sold at 14 years old, it still had the original water pump. Moral of the story, dont pay to have a job done when you dont need it.
  • nissan qashqai/manufacturer or my fault? - clutch judder/32k miles Nissan Qashqai 2 Mar 2018 (Forum)
Hi, I am on second lease of above car from Wessex in Bristol. Clutch juddering at 32k/18 month old and dealer says I have to pay for investigation (£550) and from there if manufacturer error they will pay, if not I pay for new clutch (£850).
  • Audi/BMW - Which convertible? 3 May 2017 (Forum)
So I've recently sold my BMW 1 Series 120D M Sport convertible as I needed a larger vehicle. I now have some cash to buy a cheaper convertible too. I'm...
  • Buying nearly new - what to check? 23 Apr 2016 (Forum)
I have my eye on a 2015 car with 3.5k miles. I've bought used before, but nothing with any warranty left and not from a main dealer! I'm versed in the usual things to look at and questions to ask, but this is rather different to buying a 5-year-old motor.
  • Fiesta 1.4 tdci - weird sensor goings on. 23 Mar 2016 (Forum)

  • Ford Focus Estate - 2015 Focus TPMS Issue 7 Jan 2016 (Forum)
The TPMS light flashes then stays on.  This is now coming up more and more frequently. Any ideas what it could be? The car is a year old in March and has done 14k miles. I will book it into Ford (as suggested by the handbook) but any help in the meantime would be appreciated, have stored the tyre pressures several times using the on screen options.
  • 2008 Fiat 500 Sport (petrol) - Fiat 500 clutch problem 2 Jan 2016 (Forum)
[endif]-->My 2008 Fiat 500 Sport 1.4 (petrol) has recently developed a clutch problem.   Although 7 years old, the car is very low mileage, having covered just 9,000 from new. When cold, clutch actuation and gear selection is fine, but after approx 60 mins running there is a pronounced ‘screech’ whenever the clutch pedal is depressed, and the ‘bite point’ is lost, making gear-changing difficult.
  • renault megane - should renault pay? 17 Nov 2015 (Forum)
I paid extra for a service and MOT. 10 months on the cam shaft has cracked and is leaking oil.  As a result I have to replace that and the cam belt.  The car isn't even 4 years old and has done 42000 miles!  Should I be expected to pay for this?  Is it wear and tear or 'just one of those things' and should the corrosion have been seen during the service?
  • Toyota Yaris Hybrid 1.5 CVT 100 PS - Leeway on exceeding service intervals 8 Sep 2015 (Forum)
My Yaris Hybrid is 6 months old with 9600 miles on it. It's almost due its first service (I require 2 services per year due to covering 20000 annually.) The earliest date the dealership can book the car in is 11 days from now (24th August) but I have plans for this weekend and next week and will end up exceeded 10000 miles by then.
  • towing- any thoughts? 6 Sep 2015 (Forum)
Given the age of the car I was reluctant to put the added strain of towing onto it, but I was going to virtually give it away anyway, so nothing to lose really. Any thoughts from experienced caravan towers will be welcome. Cheers Concrete.
  • Volkswagen Passat - Import to UK - Xenon Headlights requirements 8 Jul 2015 (Forum)
I currently have Xenon Headlights, does anyone know if there is a requirement to adjust the beam on those headlights so they are UK compliant.  Because the car is less than 10 years old, putting light deflectors is not sufficient for DVLA.  I'd rather not have to pay up and change the headlights which would cost a fortune!  Is there a way to deflect the beam electronically or with a switch/lever on this model?
  • Citroen C5 Tourer 3.0 HDi Estate - Door hinges not a warranty item? 2 Aug 2014 (Forum)
My car is just over 4 years old with 40k miles.  The driver's door is making a bit of a graunching sound when opened, the Citroen dealer says it needs new hinges.  These are apparently not covered by warranty (I have Citroen extended warranty) but are considered "bodywork" problems and I've been advised to take it to a bodyshop.
  • Renault Laguna - 130% increase from AA - stick to the RAC 23 Jun 2014 (Forum)
A huge increase and they didn't even pay for my breakdown repair to my turbo or even when cooler pipe blew. I think they are trying to get rid of cars older than 10 years old. I would not recommend the AA at all. Even the CEO of the AA is not interested. Total waste of space.
  • ANY - Suggestions But comfort 1st 17 Feb 2014 (Forum)
It's that time coming around again, I would like in my next car, Comfort 1st 2nd and 3rd qualities, petrol, preferably manual but not against a proper auto, not a "low" driving position, under manufacturers warranty, approx 1 year old, mid range and not too small. french/italian/vag need not apply. no dsg type thingys either.
  • SEAT Ibiza SC - Diesel in engine oil 24 Dec 2013 (Forum)
My first car is a 3 years old SEAT and it has packed-up 5 days outside the Warrantee. The engine has been wrecked by the leakage of diesel into the engine oil and with weakened lubrication the oil pump has failed, etc.
  • ford ka - 2001 ford ka mileage 15 Oct 2013 (Forum)
Hi Just bought a used ford ka for £740, 12 years old with a mileage of 49k. Its a bit battered but was happy with it as a second car. When I got home I had a terrible thought - the odometer only has 5 digits and so only goes up to 99,999. So now I have a feeling the mileage is 149k, and there's nothing to prove otherwise - no service history or pervious MOTs (the current MOT shows 49k though).
