Vauxhall Astra 1.7DTI - problem with my engine 28 Apr 2013 (Forum)
the other day i went to start the car, it turned over but wouldn't start. i tried again & it wouldn't turn over at all. it sounded like my starter motor had gone (it had that clicking sound when the starter motor packs in), so i tried to bump start it & still nothing. so i got the starter motor checked & then had it changed. now it turns on the key but the engine isn't turning over, i looked in the oil filler cap & my cams are not turning (i thought my cambelt had snapped :( but it hasn't :s). can any one help with any idea's to what could be wrong because i'm totally pugled! -
Cold weather makes havoc of fuel economy 9 Apr 2013 (Forum)
My S-Max (diesel auto) has averaged 33.4mpg since the day it arrived with 11,000 miles on about three years and 29,000 miles ago. I reset the trip computer when it arrived and after a week or so, it settled down to 33.4mpg and has not moved from that unless I have done a very long day of motorway driving which has pushed the average up by a couple of notches, only for it to drop again within a couple of days of regular urban use. -

Any - Cracking the whiplash 18 Oct 2012 (Forum)
"Police figures show a 20rise in 3rd party injury claims% fall in the number of accidents involving injuries since 2006, while there has been a 40% " and "the average 3rd party claim now stands at £8400 suggesting that most claim s are for whiplash-like injuries" Surely, it is now time for whiplash to be declared an Act of God, since, like God, whiplash is an intangible entity whose existence cannot be proved? Anyone claiming whiplash, should be given the taste of one-preferably from a 3ft jambok wielded by a burly marshall. -
Audi and vauxhall - Isofix car bases 15 Oct 2012 (Forum)
To me this seems like madness and I'm inclined to get a base by ordering via the Internet, and potentially taking advantage of better prices. Am I missing something or is this purely h and s madness? -

Ford Galaxy - CV crunching on cornering 1 May 2012 (Forum)
MK 1 T reg. I'm getting a crunching or clicking with knocking on I think my right CV joint(s). I assume outer as that's dependent on steering. I' very surprised this has developed quickly over a few days of careful driving, now trying to coast around all corners! I'm intending to replace it, and from Heynes it appears straightforward, however can it suddenly fail catastrophically or do further damage? -

Which of the three would you buy? 26 Feb 2012 (Forum)
All cars have FSH and are roughly the same price (give or take a couple of hundred) First car is an 06 plate volvo S40 2.0d SE with 75k on the clock Second car is an 06 plate VW Jetta S 1.9d with 105k on the clock. It had a new clutch and DMF not too long ago Third is an 05 plate Honda civic SE 1.7 cdti with around 90k on the clock I intend to run either car into the ground - so resale doesnt matter much to me. -

                Ford focus 1.8tdi 2001 - Handbrake needs replacing? 7 Sep 2011 (Forum)
My 2001 1.8 ford focus has just failed MOT due to the handbrake only having 16% reserve. it was tightened in june but i still wouldnt trust it on a hill! So would this mean the cable(s) need replacing? If so which ones or all? I dont really trust them as they wouldnt give a quote without taking payment and they also wanted £120 for rear tyre (i just had this replased today at £46), so just wanted a few opinions so i have alittle knowledge when speaking to other garages as I know nothing about cars and don't want to get ripped off. -

What will your next car be? 7 Jul 2011 (Forum)
What car do you intend to buy next or what would you want to buy next? I personally am looking at Jaguar S-Type's right now on the used markets, i overlooked it when i changed my car a short while back mainly because i thought i'd never get insurance on such a car, however with quotes coming out at around £500 a year for me its now viable, and i had models of the old XJ when i was a kid and always dreamed of having a big Jag. -

VW Golf 1.9 TDI DSG - Difficut to start 18 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Hello All, I have a Golf 1.9 TDI DSG on an 05 plate, it';s done 95k and is serviced regularly. For approx the last nine months it has a completely random issue when you try to start it. One day it will start straight away, another it will turn over anywhere between 3 or five times to more than 10.There is no pattern. it was worse durung the very cold weather, but the problem is also happeing now.
