Problems with tax disc. 19 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I cant take the car off the road, I, like most other people, need it for work, also I dont have off street parking. Yesterday, Saturday 6th Jan, I was pleased to see a brown envelope with DVLC on it. My new registration document I thought, now I can tax the car. No chance ? it was a fine for £56 for my car being parked on the road on the 2nd of December. -
Please please help 5 Dec 2017 (Forum)
Dont really know who to call or do so could really do with some advice/guidance. I know the CCTV footage is not really looking good if it does indeed show me stopping whilst parking, but I genuinely dont remember hitting someone. Last thing I need is prison sentence or huge fine or points which will mean I wont be able to afford driving next year -
Mazda 6 - 2l petrol Mazda 6 stalling at junctions 11 Mar 2013 (Forum)
I think the key thing here is that the stalling only occurs when the car is moving - the car starts fine, it will idle fine whilst sat on the drive and it will also idle fine once the handbrake is on and the car is stationary at a junction. In all these cases, it's presumably running on the battery. I have noticed that the headlights flicker slightly occasionally when stationary and idling though, although I have noticed this happen in the past when I've not had the stalling problem. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 98 1.9 Running fine, now won't start! 5 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Drove it about 40 miles, just switched to radio off to make sure. The dash needles flicked intermittantly and sometimes stuck in one position but the car ran fine. After getting in after leaving it for about 5 hours parked up started as normal, although didn't have heated screen, hazards, speedo, rev counter, fuel guage or odometer. The headlights and indicators worked, although the dash needles didn't move at all. -
VW Golf 1.6 FSI Auto 2005 - VW Golf 1.6 FSI Auto Tranmission fault? 16 Sep 2016 (Forum)
Car drove fine after this. Car is driving fine for now, but she gets six beeps at key on engine off. Is this just the immobiliser, or an error/warning code? Does this car have a fault of going into tiptronic gear mode randomly? -
ford focus 1.0 100ps zetec ecoboost 2013 - Engine failure warning 22 Jul 2015 (Forum)
Switched off & restarted, running perfectly. Used the car this evening, warning came up again & proceeded to go into "limp mode". Parked up,switched off,re started & idled for 5 mins & all fine. Got down the road & warning again, but car running perfectly?? Anyone had similar problems,& was it rectified? Going in to dealer tomorrow, but don't want to be fobbed off with no fault found on diagnostic check. -
Toyota Avensis 2004 - knocking on steering 6 Sep 2011 (Forum)
It began as an intermittent knocking sound on column when changing steering wheel direction parking but developed to also making a similar sound on rough roads. smooth roads are fine and silent at any speed. Local mechanic initially thought it was play where the wishbones connect to steering rack but after removinf the gaiters they were both absolutely fine. -
dvla what is going on 12 Nov 2010 (Forum)
The DVLA admitted that they had got it wrong when I telephoned them and they realised that my vehicle was S.O.R.N and they returned it with no charge. A week goes by and everything is fine, my vehicle was returned and I had no charges to pay so I presumed that was the end of the story. However, yet another letter arrived stating that if I did not pay a fine of £99 I will be taken to court. -
Yaris starting problem 17 Dec 2002 (Forum)
However, it died almost immediately. Attempting to restart it and the starter seemed to be turning fine but it only sounded like it was attempting to fire occasionally. I finally got it started by pumping the throttle and it has run and started fine since. My only thought is that last night I pulled it forward about 6' to allow a friend to get parked behind me. -
ford fiesta 1.6tdci - fiesta - repair to steering - like driving on ice 9 Dec 2012 (Forum)
since the repair the steering has gone very light and it feels like I am driving on wet, even like I am driving on ice at times, when the road is actually absolutely fine and sometimes is actually dry. I have checked tyre pressures etc and all is fine. It seems ok with a small amount of turning to the wheel, it grips fine - if you imagine the steering wheel usually at twelve o clock position. -

Hi wondering if anyone can give me some advice, my car is registered to me fully comp insured for me and i have my son as a named driver as if i am not using the car i let him take it to work ~(he has full licence) this 'incident' occured on a sunday i was at home my son used the car to go to work, on way back he went to supermarket car park got some milk and came out, nothing strange in that well 4 days later i received a nip for failing to stop/report, dangerous driving, driving without due care attention ....at the car park ! my car is not damaged that i can see, i have been over it like a fine tooth combe i bought it as a four year old car so would have had tiny key scratches etc this was back in june, i filled out the form to say my son was driving, he also replied by email to the station saying i drove the car i was in the car park but not quite at the time they had put, he said he wasnt aware of making contact with any vehicle or anything else for that matter , and as for dangerous driving he said it is a car park with people walking around queuing to get out i couldnt drive dangerously. -
Nissan Micra 2003 - Nissan Micra problems 27 Jan 2018 (Forum)
I was lucky there was a garage on the same road and I was able to drive slowly and get it parked there. By the time I got parked, only the ABS warning light was showing. I have never had any trouble like this before with the car. Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this to happen so suddenly? -

Hit a wing mirror 2 May 2013 (Forum)
Hi, On the way home today I had to go through this narrow road. There were parked cars on both sides so I had to go between them. I was in 2nd gear so I was doing about 20ish in a 30 zone. As I was driving between the cars, my passenger wing mirror hit a parked cars wing mirror. -
School Entrance Markings Offences 13 Mar 2004 (Forum)
I often do the school run on my bike with my youngest on a separate crossbar saddle. The school is on a narrow-ish lane with some turning/parking areas at the far end. Most parents don't park or drop off on the yellow school entrance markings. A minority do, and some even reverse their MPV/estates into the school entrance to turn round. -
Road fund licence 12 Feb 2003 (Forum)
What trouble might she get in to, and how likely is it that she will? As I say, the car is parked well off the road, so someone would have to go looking for it not having a tax disc, but she can ill afford to get a fine or similar over this. Also, will she be able to get a copy of the MOT from the garage that did it, or will she have to have the car tested again? -
Good buy or leave well alone? 6 Sep 2001 (Forum)
So I phoned to find out more details and get the low down on why the car was being offered at this price. Having one previous owner the car had basically been parked in a car park which flooded in the deluges earlier this year. The water rose to the level of the seats but has now, so I was informed, thoroughly dried out and there is no evidence whatsoever of water damage ever occuring. -
Audi A4 - Braking problems 25 Jan 2023 (Forum)
Road surface was fine. This time I took it to the local garage and they took the brakes apart and basically rebuilt them on my instruction but couldn’t find an obvious fault. No problems since. 3. About 6 months later, again trying to stop the car this time pulling into a car parking space on quite a steep decline. -
6 weeks with the Superb 1.4 TSi 150 PS 31 May 2018 (Forum)
But Skoda do put the button in a logical place exactly where the handbrake wuld be unlike Volvo and Toyota who put theirs in places where you would never think to look. Its lovely and quiet and the space is phenominal. Parking requires long spaces, not tried parallel parking it yet. So all in all more than happy. But if anyone posts SPAM in this thread I will find out where you live and come along and eat your children. -
Police & Car Crime 7 Nov 2002 (Forum)
I come from southern England and just experienced something that?s really wound me up. About 2 months ago I had my car parked in front of a friend?s car out side my mum and dads house. To give a vague idea, its a long street with speed humps, residents cars parked up both sides with a road that?s on a hill which joins in the middle.
