  • Is a car more important than a home? 9 Sep 2005 (Forum)
When buying a home are you as fussy as when buying a car? Is the specification of extras with a car more important than at home e.g. do you have air conditioning in your car and home? Do you maintain your car to a high standard and likewise with your home? There are different considerations that could be compared like road tax and company car benefit to council tax.

  • VW Sharan / Seat Alhambra 14 Jun 2017 (Forum)
Leaving aside the badge are there any important differences between the Sharan and Alhambra? Same tyres sizes / suspension set up? Are the seats the same? Presumably the Alhambra will depreciate slightly quicker than the VW? Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

To all who have contributed with me moaning on about the hydraulics unit, my BMW dealer has offered to match the import quote out of a good will gesture so at least it will save me in the region of £111.00. Thanks for all the info provided.
  • Legacy Turbos - Buying/Running 19 Mar 2007 (Forum)
:- (A) How does one know the mileage is genuine, as the condition in the photos seems excellent, but how can one verify, as Jap imports have no service history, or is justone has to assume that if it looks pristine, then the mileage may be near what it says on the clock ? (B) Do the Japs drive them sensibly, or are the imports thrashed to death by the time they get over here - hence the cheap price ?

  • Buying? a car in Jersey. 23 Apr 2011 (Forum)
How is a used car valued for VAT if importing into the UK? What paperwork is required? Cost of a one way ferry for car or sell it to a dealer? Initial Google searches show virtually no hits on secondhand car sales. Anyone know any recommended dealers or franchises?
  • Rented a car now want to buy one... 3 Apr 2007 (Forum)
To buy out there, you are looking at about AUD 35,000 (which looks like GBP 15 - 17,000) which in my books it a lot of car for the money. One option is to import one to the UK, but (aside from all the issues with import alone) I will bet that the corrosion protection for cars out there is nothing compared to what we get for cars built to UK spec. I dont even want to start thinking of parts availability...
  • Mahindra coming to the UK 2020 14 Aug 2018 (Forum)
Mahindra have announced they plan to expand out of Italy and Spain in the next 18 months and enter the UK by 2020. Dacia take note I don’t expect Suzuki UK nor the importers behind Ssangyong UK to be happy about this
  • Skoda Yeti - Diesel to petrol conversion 29 Nov 2015 (Forum)
How feasible is refitting a Diesel 2.0L TDI with a petrol engine ?  Important because diesels could be banned from town centres because of the Nox.  I have read elsewhere that the easiest conversion is with a 2.0 TSI engine.
  • Subaru Forester III - AWD v RWD 5 May 2010 (Forum)
How much more beneficial is having All wheel driver as opposed to rear wheel drive. My knowledge of AWD is that is usefl when going off road and not that important when driving around town.
