  • Pro motorist party? 4 Oct 2004 (Forum)
Superminis are now that heavy. My old hatchback, even with a 2 litre engine would have mid to high thirties all the time. Superminis do this around town! Cars of a comparable size and with similar engine capacity are getting fewer mpg than my old shed!

  • Toyota HSD - Advice. Old man put down deposit, changes mind 7 Mar 2015 (Forum)
I warned him that he will not get all his money back.  Turns out that its company policy that if you want to reject a car , the cost is 10% of the car. As he paid 1k, 10% means an extra £350 for him to get out of the contract. An alternative  is to buy another Toyota. There is no cooling off period as he physically went to the dealership , test drove the car and thrashed out a good deal on both the car and the px.

  • Scrapyards 13 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Besides, it is those who have little understanding of a scrapyard who comment on the supposed eyesore. Definetly a place for the better and to be used more often. My 11 year old stepson had never been to one before and absolutely loved it, all the different badges of the cars were there, he isn't even into cars a huge amount, but he was happy. So when are you going? Blimey reading this I sound like an old bloke, I'm only 30!

  • Unknown Part Name 13 Jul 2019 (Forum)
Hi, I know nothing about cars but the other day had to put in a new battery into my S Type Jaguar after googling how to do it. However there was a tube connected to a plastic part that went into the old battery that I now know was needed to release gasses.

  • Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 3 x gearboxes in 1 month 14 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Service manager said he hopes this new one will be OK as the warranty on the gearbox will expire when the car is 3 years old i.e. 1st March. Surely after a catalogue of disasters Ford cannot simply disown the warranty work! or is the service manager correct? What would you do?
  • Smallish automatic for about £6k 21 Nov 2009 (Forum)
My daughter is looking for a smallish (for parking) "traditional" automatic to buy for about £6k. She does quite a lot of long distance motorway drives, and currently has a 9 year old Toyota Yaris, which has been excellent. We had a test drive with a 3 year old Mitsubishi Colt diesel automatic, but the auto lurched from gear to gear, ? had no torque converter unlike her current Yaris.
