  • Honda CR-Z (2010 - ) - officially announced 13 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Power seems puny and no official performance figures from Honda yet. That said, if it can hold the road like an old Ford Puma did (lovely handling car) then it will win some friends. Before someone else says it, yes, a turbo-diesel Scirocco would probably go further and faster than this. So the main debate must be, whats the point of it?
  • Skoda - My Car Is Too Dangerous To Drive! 9 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Been pondering this for several weeks. An old & respected friend sat in my new Octavia after I'd sat in his new BMW. He said that he would not be able to drive my car safely , as he could not reach the brake pedal without lifting his foot off the floor.
  • Vauxhall Astra H (2004 - 2009) - 06 1.6 too much air pressure in engine 10 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Hi one and all, I have a vauxhall astra 1.6 life. My car recently started whistling and i tool it to the mechanics. Now my mechanic says that he couldnt take the oil cap off because there was too much pressure in the engine. Now when he eventually can take off the cap the car runs fine, even when he takes off another air pipe again and replaces the oil cap again the car runs fine.
  • Renault Megane (1996 - 1998) - 98 1.6 fast idling and cuts out on acceleration. 14 Dec 2008 (Forum)
My car's got a problem. It's started intermittently cutting out when accelerating. The revs drop to 0, but it doesn't stall as the motion of the car bump starts the engine. It usually accelerates fine after this.
  • Audi A4 (1995 - 2000) - between a rock and a hard place 6 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Unfortunately they have experienced engine failure fortunately close to the Audi garage who said they should not drive it and lent them an 08 2k A4 Avant tdi. Repair will cost 3k- as much as the car is worth. The Audi garage, which also deals in VWs, have offered the 08 for 19k keeping the old car. We are concerned they are being pushed into this deal and are not free to make a choice. Is this a fair deal?
  • Audi A3 Sportback (2004 - ) - 2007 1.6 Restless ride 5 Jun 2008 (Forum)
My 6 months old Audi A3 1.6 special edition automatic has what I can only describe as a restless ride, which is very tiring. To date the car has covered less than 2k miles because it is uncomfortable to use. The car I test drove at a local dealer had a firm but steady ride and, I have owned 3 VW's before this so I am used to a firmer ride quality.
  • Volvo 960 and S90 (1994 - 2000) - Motoring organisation car-check 15 Apr 2008 (Forum)
    It was a good car for me at the time, but their check wasn't good value! {Company name substituted for something more general}
  • A court appearance-don't hold your breath 27 Jan 2008 (Forum)
'A 31-year-old man is in hospital after he was struck by a car on the M61 motorway in Bolton. The man was seen walking in the fast lane of the southbound carriageway, between the Bolton West Services and Horwich junction.
  • Mitsubishi - perforation 25 Dec 2007 (Forum)
My question is : the car had a 6 year anti perforation warantee . I have not serviced it during my 4 years of ownership at the main dealers, instead using a reliable independent who has stamped the book each year , including the fan belt change - the car has just reached 60 k miles .
  • Colt, yaris or swift? 2 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Personally i loved the colt but people i've asked think it looks old fashioned and big! Thanks once again
  • Jag XJ 1991 - Wheel Tracking/Vibration? 9 Jan 2007 (Forum)
This morning I encountered a problem - 15 miles into my journey to work and then when I touched the brake the car edged to the left, the same side as the kurb I mounted. Then I started getting vibrations through the steering wheel and the car was clearly not happy. I stopped for a few minutes and then the car made it the remaining two miles to the office without incident.
  • Diesel automatic: Saab or Volvo? 7 Dec 2006 (Forum)
My Father is looking for a nearly-new diesel automatic. The choice has boiled down to one of 2 cars (nothing else under consideration, not even a Mondeo TDCi...): Saab 9-3 saloon, Vector Sport finish, 1.9tdi with 150bhp; or Volvo S40 D5 SE Geartronic, 2.4D with 180bhp. Both are around 6 months old with broadly similar specs.
  • New Scientist on in-car warning systems 4 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Couldn't agree more personally - I think it's my job to be aware of what's going around me and take the appropriate actions. Old fashioned I know, but it has served me very well over the last 25 years.
  • HPI History Ect 30 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Hi can anyone tell me if the HPI REPORTS that one can get from Ebay are as good/comprehensive as any of the other ways? I'm pretty sure the cars straight but if its a case of the £6.99 ebay one not being as good then I'll pay up for one of the others. Also while I'm seeking advise this particular car has had its reg no. changed, the new plates on the vehicle were provided by a HONDA dealer, and a quick search on DVLA confirms that the old '51 plate is now running round on a 2006 Honda, and that the new '51 plate is on the vehicle I'm buying.
  • Celica or ...? 7 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Hi We're looking to get something sporty, not just to drive, but also to look the part. We have a 9 year old child, so some semblance of rear seats would be useful, although we do have a Yaris. Reliability is fairly important. There are Celica 190s for under £10k on Auto Trader, and it gets a very good write up on the Car-by-Car Breakdown.
  • Toyota Oil Consumption /Gearbox 6 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Not long after buying it i read about some Toyota engines consuming oil at around a pt every 4-500 miles after 40k. Although this isnt an issue yet - car only 8 months old and 10k- The car in question is the 1.6 petrol engine. i was wondering if anyone knows what causes this high oil consumtion is it bore, rings worn or valve oil seals or just engine design????
  • Advice please - 1 owner or 2 owners? 25 May 2006 (Forum)
yes one previous owner?. Yesterday I got the V5 through the post and it shows 2 owners plus me. The car is only 20 months old and I did get a good deal but feel that the dealer misled me. Will the fact that the car has had an extra owner reduce its value? What options do I have with regards to the dealer?
  • VW Golf TDi - Service Indicator 6 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I own a nearly three year old Golf TDi 130 with 17,500 miles on the clock. It has been serviced twice and the next service is officially due at the end of May or at 20,000 miles. Two weeks ago the service indicator in the car came on - only 7,000 miles (10 months) after the last service.
  • Classics or rubbish ? 25 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I could go on... come on folks lets have some input Another point of note there used to be a excellent car show (note not used the word classic) by me in Llanberis (Snowdonia) and it was more a celibration of motoring It had every thing from Hillman Minxes rubbing shoulders with XJ220'S dodge vipers astons new and old Rather than rows & rows of teadeous BMC's & the like
  • Replacement car keys 11 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I wonder if I'm the only person that has ever wished he never gave his car key to his 14 month old daughter to play with. Of course, I never saw it again. VW would like me to invest 170 pounds in their company to provide a replacement (it's a remote transponder type fob for a 2002 Touran).
