Road Safety. 21 Aug 2001 (Forum)
Something about it made my blood run cold. Can it really be legal in Britain in 2001 for a car to have drum brakes on the *front*? -
Damage to the car or not? 6 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I have a friend who when parking the car turns the ignition off before the car has stopped. He then stops the car normally with the brakes for the last couple of feet. Would this cause any damage? -

MB Distronic 13 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Who would feel comfortable trusting this automatic braking device? http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,69960-0.html I'm amazed it will be going on sale in the US, as the potential product liability issues would be considerable. -

VW Golf 1.6 TDI 2009 - Golf warning lights 20 Nov 2024 (Forum)
I eventually found a new one for sale for £1,500! My issue is this; the car just passed its MOT with flying colours (driven there with brake light faults showing. Switched off and brake light faults didn't come back) and we love it. WIthin the next year it will need its timing belt and water pump replaced which isn't cheap. Does anyone know of an aftermarket replacement sensor or a cheap way to get a VW coded one? -
Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - 2003 1.4 Cutting out low idle revs 25 Mar 2017 (Forum)
This is defiantly related to braking with the car in gear and is more likely to happen the harder I brake or higher the speed. If I press the clutch in at any time or put it in neural the revs fall and it idles normally. There is no engine light on and no other faults whatsoever. -
Any - Rear Ended 27 Oct 2014 (Forum)
Was driving at the 30mph speed limit in the outer lane and when the road was clear moved over to the left lane to be in the correct place when the road split a bit further on, and an old astra pulled sharply across in front of me and hit the brakes, I had plenty of rooom to stop and did so. He stopped, so i decided to pass on the outside, but he moved across to block me. I stopped and waited, and noticed a bus behind me ( i thought he had stopped) applied hand brake (taking foot off brakes and as i opened the door the bus rolled very gently into the back of my car, (NO damage, paint not scuffed even) and swmbo and myself naturally not hurt. -

Vauxhall Vectra C - Front coil spring failure 29 Mar 2010 (Forum)
Took my Vectra C (2002/62k) to have the brake pads checked and replaced as necessary following the advice given after the last annual service in October. Brakes were fine, just the rear pads needed replacement but the garage reported both front springs had broken. -

Volkswagen Golf IV (1998 - 2004) - good buy ? 22 Oct 2009 (Forum)
I gave it £130 worth of service, wipers, spark plugs, oil filter, fully snyth, air filter, fuel filter, topped up steering fluid, mended brake light switch under foot brake. 2 owners full service history, 2 keys and plastic key with number on. handbook. cd/radio/tape/ everything works on it. 1st owner had for 3 years - up to 89K miles 2nd owner 4 years, up to 109K miles, all MOTs and tax and service docs, shows had a cam-belt change at 69K all service and mots add up. even the log book was at his home address. £2100.00 seriously such a decent car, no rot, all panels line up, all original underneath, no leaks in boot, or at rear. no leaks from brake pipes, exhaust still got decent life in it. goes like stink for a 1.4, and such a heavy car. wife just said though she skidded today in wet. looked at parkers and it should have abs. -
Citroen Xantia (1993 - 2000) - 97 1.8 Engine stops when press clunch 3 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Sometimes during driving (at normal engine's working temperature, approx 80C) my engine just shut off. It happens in the following situation: slowing down, pressing the brakes and pressing the clunch (and trying to turn the steering wheel). To be clear in the situations when I am stopping for trafic light or want to takeout from the highway. In this moment (when engine stop), my brakes still working correctly (thankfully), but my steering wheel lose the power (cannot turn). -
Volkswagen - Has anyone had VW "Goodwill" after water-damage? 26 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I'm the owner of a 2003 TDi Passat that has been continually serviced by the same VW garage. The car flooded due to a blocked plenum drainage hole and the brake warning light is lit. My VW garage unblocked the plenum drainage hole and dried out car and are trying to charge me £690 for this. Having read around the issue on this site and others I?m now also concerned about the lit brake warning light (something that VW have so far done nothing about) as brake damage has been connected to such flooding. -
8 speed gear box. Enough? Audi A4 5 Nov 2008 (Forum)
It had the usual "sport mode" that with a heavy boot red lined. Another clever feature was that in auto, on deown slopes, having used the brakes it retained that gear and thus better engine braking. Other observations on the A4. Use of the heater A/C controls activated a Sat Nav sized screen so very easy to see. IIRC 20 speed fan for the interior displayed like a clock face on the screen.
