New kitemark scheme launched to protect electric car buyers 16 May 2019 (News)
The Government has given its backing to a new industry kitemark scheme that will introduce tough new standards for the sale of electric cars and vans. The Electric Vehicle Approved (EVA) kitemark is open to all franchised dealers and will recognise car and van sellers that provide outstanding sales advi ce and aftermarket care. The launch follows a successful four month pilot with 24 car dealers; it's claimed that as many as 130 will be signed up to the scheme by the end of the financial year in March 2020. -
Lagonda heads Barons auction entries 8 Jun 2017 (News)
A 1938 Lagonda LG6 looks set to be the star lot at Barons sale later this month. The car, which is estimated to fetch between £80,000 and £95,000, goes under the hammer at Sandown Park in Surry on Tuesday, 13 June. Registered FMA 52, the Lagonda is chassis number 12345 and featured in Autocar magazine’s Use Car Test Report in December 1952. -

After 30 days and up to six months after purchase, the dealer has one chance to provide a free repair before the buyer is entitled to reject the car for a refund, though in this timeframe it may not be for the full sale price. The new rules should make buying a used car from a dealer a far less stressful experience. RAC Cars spokesman Pete Williams said: “Car buyers have long felt they are at the mercy of unscrupulous car traders, but the introduction of the Consumer Rights Act could finally turn the tables in their favour.” “Over time, and subject to some successful test cases in the courts, the new law should begin to squeeze the most dishonest dealers content with selling sub-standard stock out of the market. -

Toyota, Nissan and Honda have each recalled millions of cars worldwide - hundreds of thousands of those in the UK - as a result of a potentially lethal airbag fault. Nissan and Toyota both confirmed yesterday that the tally of UK cars being recalled between them exceeds 260,000, while Honda is yet to announce UK numbers but today officially confirmed its recall. -

£100m classic car collection seeks new home 16 May 2014 (News)
