  • Can I get an MOT 2 months early? 29 Mar 2020 (Forum)
Question is in the title. At the moment it would be very easy to get my wife's car mot'd. The mot runs out at the end of May. The way things are going nobody can say what the situation will be by then. When I look on line I simply find references stating that you can mot up to 28 days early but I wonder if this is simply to preserve the expiry date.
  • 306 leaking boot 13 Jan 2020 (Forum)
Ive tried the obvious of sealing the weather strip with silicone but without success. I get the feeling its comming in when driving as aposed to just 'running in'. The water seems to pool at the very rear of the boot where the jack and wheel brace sit. Just wondered if there are any places I could seal check? Thanks all

  • Chevrolet Kalos - Screen Washers 2 Nov 2017 (Forum)
Screen washers stopped working today. Bottle was full and pump running but no water coming out. Disconnected tubing under bonnet and connected a large syringe filled with water and back flushed system. No effect. Blew a syringe full of air through, blockage cleared and washers working as before.

  • Ford Fiesta - Ecboost water reservoir bubbling 29 Aug 2017 (Forum)
After returning from a drive in town today I lifted the bonnet and saw that the water in the coolant reservoir was bubbling and the fan was running. After a minute or so the fan stopped and also the bubbling stopped. Is this normal in a turbo engine. I have never had one before.

Not sure whether this applies in practice but just thought this might be helpful for those who, like me, run old engines.
  • Peugeot 308 GT - 308 air con 11 Nov 2016 (Forum)
I've checked the gas pressure on the low pressure side and it's happily holding a sensible pressure and the relay clicks when you have the engine running and turn the ac on so the pressure switch is working ok too, but it just isn't getting cold Does this suggest it's the compressor knackered or something else on the high pressure side?

  • Is a premium car worth the premium price ? 28 Jun 2015 (Forum)
Car wise do like smaller mercedes and volvo cars but also find others appealing, e.g. hyundai and kia. First two are obviously more expensive to buy and run.  Is it worth the extra outlay to drive them ?  I am completely open minded on this.

This has happened twice, first time after washing the car and second time after a heavy downpour.  We have assumed it is running down windscreen and is supposed to drain out.  We cannot find any "drainhole".  It takes weeks to dry out.  Has anyone got any ideas on this?

  • Citroen Berlingo Multispace - Second gear 'judder' 29 Mar 2015 (Forum)
It is possible to drive around it with some gentle accelerator work.  (Back off and gently reapply) It is also noticeable on the over-run sometimes. I've got a feeling it'll be driveshafts as it feels like they are 'winding up' Any info appreciated. (Edit: 138,000 miles, all original transmission/drivetrain AFAIK)
