    My reply to S.O. is as follows:- "The Omega has different set-up to help prevent 'unintentional acceleration syndrome'. Trying to convert it is likely to cause other problems, like the car running away with you. Either use the parking brake and release it against torque converter take-up. Or learn to use your left foot on the footbrake and release it gradually like a clutch as you apply pressure on the accelerator.

    It can accelerate to more than 60mph on battery power alone. In Korea, an unusual hybrid system running on a mixture of liquid petroleum gas (LPG) and battery power has been available for in the Forte saloon, a car similar to the European cee'd hatchback (the green car in the photos). It is powered by a conventional 1.6-litre engine converted to run on LPG and a 15kW electric motor, and though it is unable to run on electric power alone, this combination is sufficient to bring CO 2 emissions down to 94g/km.

    The 27 year-old Northamptonshire racer recently joined the ranks of the Top Fuel elite, securing her licence with a show-stopping 4.98 second pass, instantly catapulting her into the record books as the fastest female driver in the UK and the second ever fastest licence run in Europe.   Clearly elated with her time, Shelley was quick to praise her supporting cast and thank them all for their efforts. 'I'm delighted for everyone in the team that we got such a great final run,' she said.

  • Lamborghini Gallardo production ends 28 Nov 2013 (News)
    The final Lamborghini Gallardo has rolled-off the production line in Sant’ Agata, bringing to an end to the Italian manufacturer’s most successful car. During its 10-year run, 14,022 Gallardos were built, dwarfing numbers of all other cars built by the iconic supercar manufacturer. The Gallardo was launched at Geneva in 2003, coinciding with Lamborghini’s 40th anniversary, and was the second all-new model under Audi's ownership of the company.
  • Sainsbury’s cuts fuel costs by 3p per litre 29 Oct 2013 (News)
    Chris Biggs, who is in charge of buying the fuel distributed by Sainsbury’s, said:  "We are always looking at ways to help our customers save money, especially in the run up to Christmas. We know that fuel is a big part of the weekly budget for many households so we hope this cut will be welcomed by drivers across Britain." These are the latest fuel price cuts in a series of reductions by major supermarkets including Asda and Tesco.

  • Porsche to demo next 911 generation at Goodwood 10 Jul 2008 (News)
    Exhibited at the show will be the 911 Cayenne S, which visitors will be able to drive in exchange for a charity donation, along with the 911 Carrera - a model set to take part in the Sunday Times Supercar Run. Another highlight of the Sussex event is the Porsche 911 GT2, the brand's fastest car and its most powerful, with a 530bhp engine, which car insurance customers may be interested in.

    Director of Fiat Professional UK Gerry Clarke stated that "things are looking good for the Fiorino. "A combination of great looks, amazing carrying capacity and superb running costs will make the Fiorino a huge asset to thousands of businesses," he said. Meanwhile, JATO has found Fiat to have sold the most low-emissions vehicles during 2007 - its average car releasing 137.3 g per km CO2.

  • Auction to feature American 'muscle cars' 22 Feb 2008 (News)
    The firm will be presenting the Dodge Charger R/T at the site, which has been rebuilt with a vinyl roof and has an engine the company claims is running "very well". Also on display will be a Thunderbird from 1957, which BCA estimates could fetch £40,000 at auction. For £12,000 drivers can pick up the oldest car at the show.
