• Nissan Micra K11 auto CVT (1995) - CVT auto gearbox Issue – No drive or gears 19 Jun 2021 (Forum)
  Hi All I have a gearbox issue, enroute on way to work this morning, my Micra K11 cut out, (gearbox fine at this point), thought might be damp, I tried re-starting no avail, so cruised in neutral to a safe place, then placed gearbox in park mode. I waited about 2 minutes engine started fine, set off but gearbox judder / whine, got about 800m down the road pulled in to a layby, then used reverse to straighten up, though gearbox whining, went to select D, now absolutely nothing in all gears.

   I decided to check the coil pack, and didn't find a spark, so I bought another, still no spark.  The crank sensor has been replaced so I'm assuming that it's fine.  When the ignition is turned on, the radiator fan turns on, which doesn't seem right considering the engine isn't hot.   The car was driven home fine, parked, and wouldn't start the next morning.

    my van was running with no problems atall  today my partner took the van out at 7am to go to work it started and ran fine when she got home and parked up about 3 hours later i went to go out and it refuses to start   there was no warning lights or anything ?   it trys to start start the glow plug light goes off as normal after a few seconds i get some white smoke from the exhaust when i try to start it , it constant turns over but not willing to start   the battery if full of power and i assume the glow plugs are fine with getting white smoke      the fuel pump is pumpin the fuel and primer is sending the fuel through the lines ?

  Is it really necessary - because the arguement is that the UK is such a nation of chancers and blaggers that if this sort of trafic instruction was requested rather enforced, it would become unusable by the intended user as so many would take a liberty - same principle as parking fines. Grrrrr. Thoughts?

  (thanks everyone) H.J. pointed me to EasyRentaCar.com and in fact they worked out to be the best deal 5 weeks for 7 quid a day and 75 miles a day... Since the car will be parked for about 2 weeks while I am on a narrow boat the 2600 miles I get with the rental should be fine... I just need to decide to accept the charge/fine for removing the door decals ... I realy don't fancy being a rolling advert like a taxi for 5 weeks...

  The vehcile was previously a taxi - I dont think Manheim have to declare this? 2. The vehicle has a number of parking and speeding fines against it 3. The V5 which he only signed (did not fill in details as they told him to sign only) has come back with the wrong spelling of his surname. 4. The manheim sales document stated the vehicle had one previous owner, it turns out it has had 2.

  Left it switched off for about 10 minutes - and it started working again! I parked it properly - forward and reverse working fine - But of course I don't really want to drive it in case it happens half way along the A2... Any idea what's wrong (and how much this is going to cost???)

  Other car's bonnet is crumpled, grille caved in, lights and wings are fine, bumper should pop back into place. Basically a typical enough car park accident, small earthquake in Peru, not many dead. The police didn't attend so little or no chance of a due care prosecution either.

  hi wondering if anyone can help me on the 2nd April 2005 i was driving home through my small estate at about 20mph when i got to the little T junction at the top of my close cars parked on both sides i pulled out and behind the car parked on the other side at 5mph and long and behold a cop car was overtaking the van parked the other side. In the most aggresive manner he told me to stay were i was get out of the car as i had in his eyes to quote "just performed the most dangerous piece of driving he had seen in 15 years of being a copper!!"

  Car is a 2.2 Petrol with 51k miles.Approx 2 months ago the high pressure fuel pump and O2 sensor were replaced.I changed the spark plugs around 4 weeks ago.It has been running great.There has been a lot of rain today, but this is Scotland and it has been parked there before (not for 2 days) and started fine. As it is,I am apprehensive about 'bump starting' the car in case it doesn't start or I do damage.On top of this,the cars steering is 'solid' because the power sterring isn't cutting in and I really only have the use of one arm for another 2 weeks or so.

  Just received a fine for Dart charge for my wife's car. This is for the 3rd September at 9.40 at night. As we live in North Wales and have not been down south for years by car what do we do about it? She was at work until 4.30pm on that day and then came home.

    Do you think I've caused any immediate or long-term damage?   Also, would it be fine to leave it / parked up for the next two weeks if I don't plan on any journeys?  Would there be a build up of fumes which may cause issues?

  I can hear clunking coming from the driver's side, mainly when I reverse out of my driveway and turn into the road after the car has been parked overnight. It's fine during normal driving, apart from what I can only describe as a very slight wobble / shudder sometimes during braking and acceleration (not felt through the pedal or steering wheel).

  Hello - any advice appreciated, new to all this! I was involved in an accident recently where I pulled out of a parking space and moved off down the road. A motorcycle saw me do this, braked to slow down and fell off his bike. I followed procedure and rang police gave my statement, they assured me all was fine. I informed my insurance company in case third party put in a claim and they were unconcerned as no collision.

  The guys there performed multiple pressure tests, water test etc. No puncture found! They replaced it back onto the car - and its been fine ever since. Where I work and park (secure area) its extremely unlikely someone let it down. So, what else could have caused this ?

  Footbrake working fine. If anything, slightly better since the job was done. BTW, drums weren't in brilliant shape, though not scored just lipped at the edge. Stuart

  Its a year 2000 3.0l v6 auto petrol and sometimes when i try to start it (normally if i've been driving it for a bit then stop) i get nothing. Whether its in park or neutral i turn the key and nothing the car wont even try to turn over I just get dead silence. The battery is fine everything else is working perfectly radio etc but then after maybe 15-20 tries shifting between gears it will start randomly.

  Hi Just purchased a small runabout for my Wife and the car is a Ford Fiesta 1.25 l zetec automatic R reg, the car runs fine except, when at a standstill you put it into Drive it sometimes cuts out and the idle appears to be fast also at a standstill if you rev the engine in Park or Neutral the revs appear to be limited and do not go past 4000rpm, any ideas, electrical or a gearbox problem, due to this if you press the accelerator to the flooor in drive there is no kick down, although its the newer gearbox version of the CVT.

  The dealer said it would need new sensors and new drive shafts leading to a whopping £700 bill. Since normal braking is fine, I don't want to fix it. But is it going to fail in MOT? There is a single red warning light on dash showing [(!)(P)BRAKE] altogether. As soon as parking brake is released the light goes off. After driving for sometime [1 minute], the light comes up and stays.

  Doesn't happen when gently going around right handers or at all when going around left hander at any speed. Did a couple of full right hand circle in the car park and needs a little welly to make it happen, as if you were checking CV joints, no clicking and no previous indication of a problem, drives ok, steering feels fine, nothing obvious trapped underneath, just a nasty harsh grinding noise, any ideas Thanks, Ellis
