Ford Fiesta Saloon - Fiesta clutch 25 Oct 2010 (Forum)
It’s not slipping but when setting off and particularly in reverse it doesn’t seem to disengage fully leading to a bit of grinding in the gears. Fluid level is OK and I can’t see any sign of a leak. Is there any adjustment? Any ideas? -

Who keeps a car in their garage? 18 Mar 2009 (Forum)
There is a famous house in Devizes where the builders realised that the drive was too steep to get a car into the garage - so they built a flight of steps leading up to it, on the basis that nobody wants a garage for a car these days. -
Hyundai i30 (2007 - ) - Pad/Disc Contact 24 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I notice that, when setting off in my Hyundai i30 after a day or two without use, and before braking, there is a rubbing noise. This intensifies on braking but then, after an application or two, disappears. This leads me to believe that the pads are in constant light contact with the discs. Is this normal? -

M25 Chertsey in the morning 30 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Does anyone do this stretch of M25 at about 8.30am? I need to get to the A3, but I'm sick and tired of that nasty little single carriage way road leading up to it from Byfleet. I'm wondering if filtering up the M25 through the traffic (On bike) would be quicker than illegally filtering up the other road (double white lines). -

Hi all! Can anyone please lead me in the right direction for good deals on a new catalytic converter for a Skoda Fabia 1.4 16v (02 reg)? Our local Skoda dealer has quoted a whopping £690 for a 'supply and fit'. Sounds more than a little steep to me!!! -

'97 Polo - falling apart 9 Jun 2004 (Forum)
A piece of coiled piping leading into/from the engine of my 1997 VW Polo fell off this morning. It led to a narrow black plastic vent at the left side of the engine. I know this is probably very basic but does anyone know what it is and also is the car safe to drive home to a mechanic? -
Focus First Service 18 Jan 2004 (Forum)
They said there isn't a drain plug, and that modern cars these days don't need that e.t.c Am I being lead astray here, or are they right? Anything else I should ask them to do/change that isn't standard? Thanks -

Pug 306 10 Mar 2003 (Forum)
In his car by car breakdown HJ say of the above: "1.8 8-valve XU petrol is the worst engine and many were fitted with the wrong ECU chip leading to failed emissions tests. Autobox not recommended." Does anybody know why the autobox meets with his disfavour? Academic interest only, I would never buy one as me feets too big. -
imobiliser + bump starts 19 Mar 2002 (Forum)
I got accosted by a Greek man with a Rover 400 with a flat battery last night. He asked me for Jump leads which I didn't have but I tried giving him a tow. Car turned over OK but wouldn't start. We decided it was the immobilser that was preventing it starting. Is it possible to bump start a car with an immobiliser, if so how? -
Mazda - Particulate filters and EGRs 11 Sep 2023 (Forum)
Mazda diesels are infamous for problems with the diesel emissions systems leading to on some occasions huge repair costs. Even Toyota have had problems with their Yaris diesels so what chance does any other manufacturer stand? But I imagine late Mazda petrols and other makes will be fitted with a petrol particulate filter and issues will soon be surfacing or already have? -
Music - does the car influence your choice 9 Jul 2013 (Forum)
I'm listening to a lot less rock and a lot more chilled ambient music. I suspect a Skoda might lead to jazz or a Merc (but not AMG) to classics. Any thoughts? -
