  The ML270 carries poor tales of reliability and the BMW is a bit too "soccer wife" for me. I was going to look at the XC90, but I heard a whisper about the Kia Sorento and test drove one at the weekend. I was really impressed by the ride given that this is a 4x4 and the quality of the interior. The boot is cavernous and the 4wd is a bonus for the odd occassion when I can get close to the action (skiing etc).

Given the demand for these cars, no discount was expected or offered, although the salesaman did agree to PX the current car. He didn't view it at the time. I looked at the Volvo XC90 and xc70 - the latter is too small in the back, and the 90 seems to have other problems I have seen on forums.   So its back to the larger 4x4s and the BMW X5, Audi Q7 are way too expensive, I had a Volvo XC90 and thought it awful so have arrived at the Kia Sorento or Hyundai Santa Fe twins.  The Kia appears to offer better value for money for the same spec and engine/gearbox combination.  They will be a little more economical and faster than the S-Max and appear to have a nice flat floor and three individual seats for the second row.
