  • Any bike / car - Hypothetical question 3 Oct 2023 (Forum)
This is while riding normally not recklessly and with normal care and attention. I am wondering where the liability lies if that stone hits a car and chips the paint or breaks a window ? Obviously the car owner would not be happy about the damage but the cyclist has done nothing wrong either. Also most cyclists don't have insurance to cover costs to other vehicles.
  • Ford /honda - Researching second hand car 2 Mar 2020 (Forum)
Hello all again Still looking for a second hand car 10 to 12 thousand.and as it's my wife's car for the kid stuff etc reliability is important. I looked at a grand picasso which I liked it had all the practically from a family point of view but with advice from this website and checking out various things I decided it's a bit iffy with regards to mot failures , too many non specific faults with regards to warning lights covering SRS problems, tyre pressure monitor, etc etc etc.

I had a problem starting my car in the mornings . The mechanic noticed that the rocker cover gasket was leaking oil and the oil could be leaking onto the plugs & that could be the reason why as it wasn't giving enough spark , and the battery was tested and found to be weak.

  • BMW 3 Series Coupe - Car Allowance 3 Aug 2013 (Forum)
Hi, I've recently been offered a new position for £38K and option for company car or car allowance [£300]. I don't know how many miles I'll do as I haven't started yet. I'm thinking about buying a BMW Series 3 Coupe 335 petrol as my personal car and I don't mind use it for business purpose at all.

  • Ford Mondeo/Peugeot 407 - Petrol or Diesel ? 27 Sep 2012 (Forum)
Considering that diesel cars are more expensive to purchase (both when new and second hand) and potential repair costs are significantly higher, at what point do diesel cars become uneconomical ? I have a commute of 500 miles per week, so I will cover somewhere in the region of 25,000 miles in the next 12 months depending on how many times I'm sent overseas.
  • volkswagen Golf mk5 - 'Clattering' noise from rear of car 26 Jun 2012 (Forum)
About 8 months ago, someone bumped into the rear of my car whilst parked in a car park, hardly any noticible damage, in fact didnt notice for two days, however the bumper is ever so slightly pushed forward on the drivers side. Last night driving home I noticed what can be described as a 'metalic clatter' or like two metal plates being slapped together, or the sound a loose manhole cover makes when you drive over them, when I go over rough ground or speed bumps.
  • Ford Focus - Selling a car without the buyer present 23 Jan 2012 (Forum)
He has offered to send a cheque covering the car and the cost for the shipping (I don't know if this means abroad), and 'any other costs', and has asked me to clear the cheque, take the cost of the car and then send the excess money to the shipping agent who will then come and pick it up.

Took the car to a Tyre Centre who informed me that the noise was not related to the tyres at all.Took the car back to the Mazda Dealer about 2 weeks after warranty expires and was told that the car needed a new steering  rack., and that it was not covered by the guarantee and that they will not help in any way .
  • FIAT Grande Punto (2006 - 2009) - 08 1.4 Brake failure on 4 month old car 14 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Is there any history of this? A member of my family acquired a Grande Punto 1.4 Auto back in June, it has since covered 4K miles of ordinary road driving. Yesterday on the way home from work, the ABS warning light came on. On getting the car home, the driver braked, a lound thud then came from somewhere in the rear of the car, and lost all braking capability, including operation of the parking brake.
