Supermarket now policing disabled spaces 17 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Since a revsion of their carpark layout, they now have wardens who patrol the disabled spaces relentlessly - even before you get out of the car they are on you, checking your badge. Its proactive and all I can say is well done to them, I checked and unlike days of old where only half or so of the approx 15 spaces had badges, now all do - those who pull in without one are moved on quickly. -
Ford Mondeo 1 (1993 - 1996) - 95 2.0 petrol - thirsty automatic 7 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Hi all, my thirsty old car is costing me a fortune. I have recently bought it, with 90k on the clock and it drinks petrol like I do beer. It is currently doing 260 miles on a full tank of fuel. Now I know autos use a lot of fuel but this seems ott. -
Volkswagen Golf III (1992 - 1997) - 1996 1.8 Rotor Arm replacement 5 Oct 2008 (Forum)
I need to replace a rotor arm (it is a 'bonded' type) i.e not a push on fit (these were easy) Is it an easy DIY fix or does it need a more specialist garage. How do you remove the old rotor arm. Any Ideas or experience welcome. Thanks. {no need to mention car make/model in subject header - your selection from the drop down menus takes care of that, edited properly this time!} -
Have people?s opinions on ex-rentals changed? 29 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Hi there, I had a quick search on this board and saw the last post on this topic was in 2001 so I thought I?d ask if anything has changed since then; what are people?s opinions on buying 6 month to year old ex-rental cars? The only reason I ask is because a friend and I are looking into trading in these vehicles and would like to know if there is still a strong stigma attached. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. -
Large estate circa £3k. 11 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Preferably she would like something with a little more 'prestige'! An old A6 might fit the bill, but the cost of parts and reliability could be an issue. Any suggestions please. -

Now I have a new car I need to get rid of my old knackered Fiesta. As mention in another thread it has a long MOT but due to severe valve train wear it dosn't always start first time in the mornings (will change the oil to see if it cures it). -
What's a Camry worth?2004 with 10 Jun 2007 (Forum)
I thought that @ 3 yr old and under 10K miles it was still only worth onlyabout £7500 - how do you set a price for an 04 Reg (it could be much older and sat in a field as they were slow sellers). -
Volvo S80 Battery 1 Jun 2007 (Forum)
I have a volvo s80 V reg about 7 years old. The car has had the same battery as the one that it came with when it was new so the battery is also about 7 years and has finally run out. It won't take charge anymore, I have kept it on the charger all night. -

My Alfa is coming up to 3 years old next month, and I received the tax renewal stuff in the post today. The car was first registered on the 19th April 04. The letter from the tax people says I can renew the tax disc any time after the 15th March. -
Cam Belt Citroen 2.0HDI 19 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I have recently bought a Citroen Xantia Forte 2.0 HDI July 2000 W Plate. It had only 7093 miles with 5 Service Stamps from the same dealer that sold the car. I am using it as a private hire vehicle and have already put another 4500 miles on the clock. The question is that as the belt hasn't been changed when should I be changing it seeing as it is over 6 years old? -

Rover 25 2 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Firstly you will have to forgive me on my total lack of car knowledge. My 4 year old Rover 25 broke down the other day. The temperature guage had been going mad for a little while. Going up high then dropping back down to normal. After a few days it made this funny ticking sound then broke down. -
tugging to the left 27 Jun 2006 (Forum)

Alfa thoughts 28 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Popped into my local Alfa dealer on Saturday for a closer look at the Brera. Staff very friendly and happy for myself and 13 year old son to kick the tyres etc. Had a great half hour or so and putting aside the usual Alfa "concerns" I reckon that Alfa must have the most desirable range of new cars available under 25k. Brera is very good looker with more space than I had expected. -
Indicator lense misting 11 Apr 2006 (Forum)
There are no obvious/visible breaks where moisture would enter, but I guess the gap could be pretty darned small. Question is, should this be resolved under warranty (car is 16 months old)? Thanks. -
Merc 320ce - views? 3 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Hi everyone I have been reading this site with interest for a while, and now it is time for my first post. I am transfering jobs, and will not get a company car where I am going, so was thinking of getting a 1995 or so Merc 320ce (the W124 based coupe). I have checked CBCB, but any other comments from those that may have owned one? They seem to fetch £3-5k on eBay, and although they are 11 years old, appear to be pretty bullet-proof to me. -
BMW 530d E60 - Winter Operation 27 Mar 2006 (Forum)
I have a 2 year old 530d E60, approx 50K miles - first start in the morning, in very cold weather, I get a strange 'tinkling' noise when I press the accelerator. Noise appears to be coming from behind the dashboard/front of car. -
brake fluid life! Honda Civic 16 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Just been ringing around a few Honda dealers to find out how much a 37000 mile service is for my CIVIC TYPE-R, and very surprised to hear that this will be the first time that the brake fluid will be changed. Correct me if i'm wrong, but i understand that it should be changed no later than every 24 months(car is 30 months old). Last service was 6 months ago. No wonder the pedal is nearing the floor! I questioned this on the phone but every response was, 'that's in line with the schedule mate'! -
Cylinder head overhaul needed? Pug 106 8 Dec 2005 (Forum)
A local garage has now advised that a cylinder head overhaul is required at a cost of around £600, but I'm reluctant to spend so much on an old car. Is this likely to fix the problem, and is £600 a reasonable price to pay? Any advice gratefully received!
