  • Using a phone whilst driving 18 May 2009 (Forum)
Every day I see several people using a hand-held mobile whilst driving. My 15 mile route to work involves country roads, a fast dual carriageway and a short stretch of semi-rural with speed cameras, and in every section I see people blatantly using phones. Also see this on motorways.
  • 10p per minute 31 Aug 2008 (Forum)
After wondering about the real world effect of speed on cost, for the commute I make (40 miles each way of mixed motorway, A roads, B roads, C roads and only a minor amount of town driving) I decided to work out the actual figures. So over the last few weeks of trying driving at 'normal' speeds, driving without exceeding the speed limit, driving at the speed limit -10% (asbestos suit on), obviously taking account of traffic conditions, etc.
  • Honda Jazz/Fit (2001 - 2008) - Driving seat - causing discomfort. 30 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I recently bought a Honda Jazz and I am very happy with it except for the driving seat. Within a short time of driving, I get pain between the shoulder blades, at the top of the spine and in the neck. I have tried lumbar cushions, wedge cushions, adjusting the height - all to no avail.

  • n/a - Expats using UK driving licence. 22 Nov 2017 (Forum)
In France for example, it is not necessary to exchange the UK licence for a french one unless one commits a driving offence, so that they can award points, which they can't do on a UK licence.
  • Speeding fine, not know who driving 16 Sep 2017 (Forum)
As only 5 mph over and as he has a clean record are they likely to cancel on appeal, if he tells them he has done all he can to find who was driving? I mean it's hardly a dreadful crime is it. Thanks.

  • Ford Mondeo 2002 Zetec TDDI - Drive Shaft or Gear Problem 21 Jul 2013 (Forum)
The noise is still there but it is not as loud as it was this morning.  I went to the mechanics and they suggest it O/S Drive Shaft problem and CV boot and they have quote me 200 pounds to get the work done. I think it can be the gear because its only making noise when i am changing the gear. Car doesnt make any other noise on the corners or regular driving.

  • Toyota Yaris - Transmission problem 20 Oct 2012 (Forum)
I own a toyota yaris, automatic, petrol, 5 door hatchback,52 plate. Last week car stopped all of a sudden and would not drive when put in D mode. Its a bit weird- If I restart the engine, car drives in first gear for a bit as soon as the speed increases it goes back to neutral & does not drive. This happens even if done repeatedly.
  • Woman passes driving theory test at 950th attempt 6 Nov 2009 (Forum)
From today's Telegraph: A South Korean woman has finally passed her driving theory test at the 950th attempt. The aspiring driver spent more than 5 million won (£2,500) sitting the written exam almost daily since April 2005 but until this week had failed to score the minimum 60 out of a possible 100 points needed to get behind the wheel for a driving test.
  • Vauxhall Meriva A MPV (2003 - ) - 1.6auto do they really drive that badly ? 16 Jun 2009 (Forum)
My father has a 1.6 petrol Meriva 08 Automatic. I have not driven another auto in this model & the dealer doesn't have another auto to drive but I have to ask do they really drive that badly ? its all or nothing when you go to pull away & does so with a jerk and is so indecisive when changing gear! even when driving on light throttle it won't change unless you lift off the throttle & then it jerks in!.
  • Is200 - Baby on the way - What Next? 12 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I've been driving my IS200 for yonks now and absolutely love it but, with another child on the way, it's going to be too small for the five of us. With a budget of only 10K I'm having real difficulty finding something rear wheel drive that's under 2 litres with decent driving dynamics & the total reliability of the Lexus.
  • earplugs & driving 25 Oct 2007 (Forum)
These earplugs had "Interchangeable attenuation filters that let you choose the level of attenuation you need in specific situations. Lower attenuation for city driving and higher attenuation to fight the wind noise on the highway." (However, I would have thought foam ones would be quite acceptable.) Has anyone any evidence on the safety or otherwise of driving with earplugs?
  • Thank you police! 24 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Driving to work this morning on Motorway, an idiot in an Impreza was driving very badly, switching between lanes making people literally swerve to avoid him. This wasn't the usual rush hour driver, this was really bad!
