Ferrari:Sudden unexplained loss of power 30 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Anyway, tootling along at a fair pace I had a call on the mobile (hands, or should that be Hans, free of course). Flicked the switch and it was a work mate of mine, telling me I was being tail-gated by another Ferrari, mirrors not too good of course. This chap apparently wanted to get past but had made no effort to do so, I was happy so I carried on at speed. Suddenly a few minutes later I experienced a sudden loss of power exiting a bend, although it was momentary, it allowed the other driver through. -
Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - Warranty claim - Ford wriggling 23 Mar 2009 (Forum)
He has noticed when the car warms up gearchage becomes difficult, especially going through the neutral 'gate'. It will disengage gear OK, spring to neutral then it requires a real push to get it through neutral before it goes into the next gear with no problem. Garage have diagnosed it as a bent selector bar in the gearbox - as it warms it expands and becomes problematic - it's a problem they have come across before. -
Wallet busting FAP and other nightmares on `tech` 18 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Perhaps gritting the teeth for some with regard to loss of luxury and power, but a Fiat 1.1 Panda new, at just over £5,000 has never looked better value with regard to ceasing to dump cash from the wallet - in the fashion of a turbo waste gate opening. -
Commuting into London by motorbike 3 May 2007 (Forum)
I work in W1, and I've just found out that I can leave my bike in the underground car park at our office (It's Fort Knox basically - gated and blanket CCTV coverage). This opens up a realistic chance to do something I've been thinking about for a year now - start commuting on the ZZR every day. This will halve my journey time, more than halve the cost of my current car/Tube mix, and once out of town at least, be a heck of a lot more fun. -
Caravan courtesy - I do try! 24 Sep 2004 (Forum)
I could pull in at the bottom to let a few people past, but I'd then be condemning a lot more to a long slow slog up the hill. 4) If you tail-gate a caravan you are invisible, so how am I supposed to know you would like me to pull over? All that said, I don't mind pulling in even for just one or two cars if a suitable place comes up. And it is really nice when someone thanks me! -
It's not rocket science, or is it? 13 Apr 2003 (Forum)
A woman in a Peugeot estate was moving slowly down the road about 20 mph (in a 30 mph limit) with her left indicator going, obviously looking for a parking space. The car was full of kids, it was 8:45 am and we were within 50 yards of the school gates. On finding a suitable space she slowed and took up position ready for a reverse park. Unfortunately, the moron behind drove right up behind to within about 2 feet of her rear bumper and blew his horn. -
Security suggestions for yard 7 Mar 2003 (Forum)
The yard is square, with brick-built units on two opposing sides, a 7ft brick wall with 7ft high metal gates at the front, which are locked at night, and a 7ft chainlink fence to the rear, bordering a water authority underground reservoir. What appears to be happening is that the fuel thieves are getting into the water board property, then either lifting up or pulling down the wire fence to get into our yard. -
Zig Zag Zones 6 Mar 2003 (Forum)
|/\/\/\/\---SCHOOL---KEEP---CLEAR---/\/\/\/\| (sorry about the graphics) These are bright yellow, painted on road right outside the school gates. Easy to see and understand, (assuming they can actually see & read). Why don't these 'loving parents' who stop in this Zone to drop off (& collect) their offspring realise they are not only causing congestion, breaking rules/laws, demontsrating a bad example to their children, but also endangering the lives of other children with their selfish behaviour? -
Car Sound Quiz - volunteers require 26 Jul 2015 (Forum)
If you would like to volunteer to become a beta tester, please PM me with an email address so that I can send you an invite. My apologies if you're an Android user. The developer that I'm using can only develop for iOS, so for the time being we're not planning on releasing on Android. However, if it is successful on Apple we will definitely consider a port. If you would like to learn more about the app, I'm happy to answer any questions on here. -

Nissan Navara - Runaway Truck 27 Oct 2022 (Forum)
They readily agreed to get the wall repaired and we cleared up the mess. No point getting upset, they are good neighbours. The truck had a dented tail gate and possibly some damage to the underside. He came over last night and said the builder had been out to survey the damage and would start work in a few days. The garage said their insurance would cover the damage to the truck but our neighbour would have to pay £500 excess. -
Any - Air travel, train tavel and Ferries and cars 4 Oct 2022 (Forum)
Ryanair Stansted-Bari, zero problems, on time, March 2022 BA London to Rome rtn Bologna LHR. chaos at check in, change of gate minutes before boarding and late. Apr 2022. Ryanair Stansted Bologna, rtn Pisa to Stansted. Zero problems again. Whatever people say about Ryanair, if you follow the bagage rules, you can get some good deals, and at the moment it seems that they and Jet2 are the best for flying 99% or os of their flights. -
Citroen xsara - Xsara - cambelt shredding, any leg to stand on 28 Mar 2014 (Forum)
Hi all, just asking for a bit of advice, if any of you can help. My 19 yr old daughter gas a 53 plate xsara 2.0 hdi. She had a gates belt kit water pump etc fitted 12,000 miles ago, 18 months ago at her local garage. Engine was making a funny noise so she took it to someone she knew who is also a mechanic, who, to cut a long story short, discovered that the edge of the belt has shredded, and on further inspection found out that the tensioner had been fitted incorrectly. -

Volvo S40 (2004 - ) - 06 2.0 Starting problem 20 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Once started it always runs very well but I cannot risk being stranded late at night with my children in the car and need to resolve the problem asap. What can I expect from the dealership/Volvo? Genuinely very gateful for any assistance, as I am not an expert in these matters and really pushed the boat out to buy this car. Regards, Berty -
Unfaithful thoughts 29 Mar 2005 (Forum)
With progress being made, though no heroics and everyone sensible with cool tarmac, plenty of tractor muck by gates. and post winter gravel down the crown, the pleasure reminded me why I ride. Anyway, I degress. Return route took me down the A41 towards Aylesbury, where an obligatory pit stop at On Yer Bike was made. -
Mk2 Golf - Worth keeping? 29 Sep 2003 (Forum)
It is also very easy to accidentally almost put it into reverse without pushing down - it just jumps the gate. I only use the car for going to and from the station, as my other half is learning to drive, and the clutch/lack of power steering make it very learner unfriendly (but I like the car) Decided to keep it in August as it only needed 2 new tires to pass the MOT, and was worth very little to anyone else. -
