Skoda Octavia I (1998 - 2004) - 2005 1.6 (8 valve) - mayonnaise on oil cap 12 Feb 2008 (Forum)
This is the "Mk 1" model with 8 valve "MPI" engine (not FSI) - must be one of the last ones made (registered May 2005). I got the car in October 2007 and have covered 3000 miles, bringing its total to a very modest 13,600 miles or so. I just checked the oil level, needed to top up, then to my horror found "mayonnaise" inside the oil filler cap. -
Parking Ticket 27 Apr 2007 (Forum)
In my opinion these signs do not cover this stretch of road, there is adequate area for a sign to cover this stretch (sufficient for 3 cars to park). I know many colleagues who park here on a daily basis and as far as I know, no-one has received a ticket previously. -

Audi a6 avant - Garage refuses to pay for fault 7 Aug 2012 (Forum)
They also stated that the Audi garage who serviced the vehicle in October would have paid 70% towards fixing the fault, (even though the vehicle has covered 112000 miles and is 4 years old!) I believe they should pay for the work carried out as I don't believe they checked the filters prior to the vehicle being sold, (they had bought the car the day I viewed it), and on there website they state all cars are thoroughly inspected before being advertised for sale. -

Time to hang up the spanners? 2 May 2003 (Forum)
Job done - congratulate self on saving garage labour costs - buy bottle of Pomerol as reward. Oblivious to one bolt securing a small plastic section of belt cover not being tightened.......... Off on holiday to Norfolk en famille, said bolt finally vibrates its way out and drops onto cambelt. Exits through belt and timing cover - pistons once more have an intimate moment with valves. -
Citroen C3 - advice re old Citroen C3 13 Jul 2024 (Forum)
I have a 2006 Citroen C3 that I like very much - it's been brilliant since I bought it 5 years ago and needed no repairs until it broke down this week in France with a broken clutch. I'm being quoted 950 euros for the clutch to be repaired there, which is about £800. The car is only worth about £700, so the insurance won't cover recovering it to the UK. It ought to be a no-brainer to sc*** it but I am torn because it's been such a reliable little car and I'm sure it has a few years left in it. -
