Reducing environmental impact. 22 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Hi All, Was listen to the radio the other day (forget which station) and caught the tail end of a conversation about what steps we as the car using/buying public can do to reduce our emissions (so to speak!) and environmental impact. -
Cars you have adored despite problems 6 Dec 2005 (Forum)
It was a milk chocolate brown colour and was quite startling to own because of its quirkiness. The radio was where the hand brake should be and the handbrake was like a spade handle that you pulled out of the dash. There were no stalks for indicators etc just 'pods' either side of the steering wheel with swiches (worked very well). -
Pug 406 - Replacing the stereo... 29 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Hi folks, Just bought a Pug 406 Executive (2.0i petrol), lovely drive (esp. when compared to the previous N/96 Clio 1.9D). Now, the stereo... Sounds fine, looks good, CD multichanger in the boot, tape & radio in the front. But, I've always had a minidisc player in the Clio, and have about 60 mds prepared ready for the car, as opposed to having 0 tapes (or a tape deck on which to produce them, even if i could deal with the quality issues), and I wouldn't feel overly comfortable leaving lots of CDs original CDs (quick test, it doesn't like to play CD-Rs, at least not those I produced on my laptop last night) in the car (as (a) wouldn't be able to play them in the house (b) would worry about theft). -
Please Help. Escort Central Locking. 10 Nov 2003 (Forum)
Im counting my blessings that the car was still there for me to find, and that nothing was nicked from within. I can only assume they/he was disturbed as the radio face off was still in the glove box. This does however leave me with a problem as the car doesnt lock properly - as mentioned above, turning the key to lock it only prompts it to unlock itself again. -
Motoring in the cheap lane. 16 Jan 2003 (Forum)
I admit to being a bit chuffed to have picked up, what I consider to be a bit of a peach......it's astoundingly clean, having been cossetted, garaged, serviced every year, and has :- Central Locking, Electric windows, Power steering, Sunroof and runs as sweetly as you can expect it to run. It's had a recent battery, stainless exhaust and (premature?) clutch. Admittedly the radio's on the blink and the air conditioning........OK, so it hasn't got air conditioning. I know I'll be told that low annual mileage is bad for a car but it starts, runs and cruises at 70 without a problem and is rust free. -
Pug 306 1.8 XU7 emissions control? 12 Oct 2002 (Forum)
A quick phone call to the supplying dealer this morning, who also did all the servicing, to request the radio code (previous owner now unfortunately deceased), prompted the service manager to recall the reg no from memory, and also that the car has no 'history'. It did, however, fail it's emissions test earlier this year, but passed easily when retested the following day. -

Help please with bump in work car park...girl claiming more damage than i caused. 5 Aug 2010 (Forum)
As a result i bumped into some girls car and dented her front left side wing. So i went back into work and asked at reception whos car it was. They made a call on the radio and some girl came out. I showed her to her car and described what happened. I said i would pay for the costs rather than going for insurance. She then pointed out some marks near the headlight which had red paint and claimed i did that also. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 96 1.9 slow to start-glowplugs replaced-what next? 19 Mar 2010 (Forum)
When I first got the car a relay was clicking all time ,but since the glow plugs were replaced it has stopped clicking , however when the key is turned to initiate the glow plugs there is a slight faint buzzing sound until the light goes out , sounds a bit like the radio is on but not tuned in . Next thing to try we think maybe the glow plug relay - but these seem to be quite dear , if anyone has any other ideas please let me know thanks in advance Jill -
Stupid driving 8 Jan 2009 (Forum)
In my mirrors I could see lane 3 slewing to a halt. I feared an accident but heard nothing subsequently on the radio. Idiots ! -
General Motors press release 25 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna. 9. Every time a new car was introduced, car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again, because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car. 10. Oh yeah, and last but not least . . . you'd have to press the "Start" button to turn the engine off! -
Friday Journeys 26 Oct 2005 (Forum)
The M25 was murder, something like 2 hours to do 30 odd miles (accident on opposite carriageway but nothing to cause a hold up on ours). Yet I gather that we were lucky; according to Radio 2 traffic news the M6 was virtually stationary from Birmingham to Manchester, M42/A42 the same, as were long stretches of the M5, M1 (Leicester to Sheffield), M60, M66 etc and our queue apparently started at the M3 junction with the M25 and continued to the Dartford crossing. -
Toyota Yaris D-4D Testdrive. 10 Mar 2002 (Forum)
The engine is really smooth and responsive and the noise levels in the cabin are not at all obtrusive. I personally like to hear the reassuring diesel sound but with the radio on low you can't hear the engine at all. I found there was plenty of pull throughout the gears and always found there was lots of power in reserve should I need it. With three up, I drove up quite a steep hill and was able to keep it in fifth all the way to the top at 60 MPH. -
