  Are AA mechanical warranties worth having, I think no it is just a glorified money pit. I have an Audi A6 bought from new and it is an 05. After te warranty ran out I took out one with the AA and paid £467 yearly. This yer was the first time I made a claim, my air con rad went so I got it replaced. I paid the £50 excess and thought I had done well as a new rad was in the region of £350 plus the labour etc.

  It can be started with easy start or when the fuel level is raised again to above half a tank. I took it to the Audi dealer and they first diagnosed fuel contamination (oil leaking in fuel perhaps?). Tank was emptied, new fuel filter and fuel lines cleared. Got the car back and same thing happened. Again I took it to the dealer and they then replaced the in tank fuel pump.
