  Recently I've noticed some newer used cars have decent warranty periods on them, eg 10+ plate Toyota's, and the Kia's. However, I'm finding it really hard to put a value on the warranty, many people I've asked seem to feel the warranties aren't worth much on a car which is already proven.

  I'm a Yank about to buy my first car in England and I'm surprised at how short the warranties are. In the US, warranties of 70-100,00 miles are not unusual. Also Quaker State Oil offers a free 250,000 warranty if your oil is changed (using theirs) every 4000 miles.
