Ford Focus 1.6 Ghia - Ignition query. 3 Jul 2011 (Forum)
I was wondering what sort of task would it be to change the ignition and door locks. I have noticed on Ebay that you can buy ignition, lock and key, but some also come with the ECU. Is it necessary to change the ECU? and is this a major job or more of a plug and play? Many thanks for your time. -

Vauxhall Corsa - Vauxhall corsa ECU Problems 30 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Hi, I have had a vauxhall corsa out on finance now for about 4 months. Since having the car, I have had to get a new tyre, the break pads replaced and now the ECU has gone on the car . The garage who sourced the car from the finance company provided 3 months cover on the car and it is slightly out of this warranty. I have contacted the finance company who provided the car, and they have said that they are only willing to repair the vehicle if they can prove the fault was there at point of sale. -
Rover 25 214 manual 8 Nov 2006 (Forum)
It is just as if it is going to cut out when the accelerator is depressed and it only gets better when the engine is warm. An independent Rover mechanic has said he thinks the ECU needs reconfiguring or replacing. Does it sound like this is the problem or is there anything simpler to try first. Clearly the ECU is not telling the system to deliver a rich mixture when the engine is cold. -
'84 1.8 petrol Laguna ignition Problem 7 Sep 2004 (Forum)
That fixed the problem for a month, then I started up one day, ran on idle for 3 minutes then cut out. Again mechanic tested continuty between ECU, coil, sensors etc. Replaced coil/amplifier pack, still no spark. Removed and tested the ECU, ECU was fine. He then gave up in frustration and I am now onto 2nd Auto Electrician. He had performed the same set of tests and is convinced its the coil/amplifier pack again. -
Peugeot 206 hatchback (1998 - 2006) - 04 1.4s - PO300 ECU code - sluggish, loss of power 27 Jan 2008 (Forum)
The Sale of Goods Act covers me for up to 6 years with any inherent fault. For example, I'd expect a car's coil pack and ECU to last beyond 36 months. Tyres, brake pads, wipers etc I would expect to replace but not these things. Also, if the company refuses to help, can I pay to fix it yet still begin a legal dispute to get that money back? -

skoda octavia - cliate control problems 26 Sep 2012 (Forum)
The aircon in my Octavia was not working - so had the gas replaced (£40), still not working - garage said the ecu probably needed resetting but could only be done by a Skoda garage. The Skoda garage insisted on a diagnostic check (£80+) to tell me, what I already knew, that the climate control was not working. -

peugeot 406 td 1.9 diesel - Diesel pump 21 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Now the car has imobilised and the mechanic has said it is because the pump has to be programmed to the ecu and we had to get the ecu that matches the second hand pump we got - impossible we cant get it! Is this correct? or is there something else we can do? dont really want to scrap the car but it is looking more likely any help much appreciated thanks xx -

Ford Focus - ford focus cutting out 14 Dec 2010 (Forum)
we bought a ford focus tdi on a v plate. it keeps randomley cutting out which can be very danerous. it starts straight away every time. the garage we bought it from took it back and replaced crankshaft sensor ( diagnostic machine read problems with crankshaft and fuel pump). got car back and still kept cutting out. they are now saying the ecu has gone. could the ecu relate to the readings on the diagnostic machine. anyone know ?
