  • Incorrect Car Parking Fine 5 Nov 2012 (Forum)
I received a letter from Town and City parking saying that i was being fined for car parking in Scotland. This is clearly incorrect as i have never been to Scotland. Is this a scam by the company or an indivdual in the organisation to get a bonus?
  • Parking Fine Defaulters Cars to be Crushed 19 Mar 2009 (Forum)
It was on BBC news this morning that, in Leicester, people who don't pay their parking fines may have their cars taken to a pound and crushed, after 90 days. The worst offender there owes £10,000 in unpaid fines. Why aren't normal methods be used to collect this money (Bailiffs, sequestration of earnings orders etc?).

Someone I know has been lumped with a £75 fine for overstaying in the car park for his local swimming pool, because the disabled swimming class closed the pool for an hour at midday. http://www.paulobrien.net/what-0#comments He was fuming about it on his blog (and rightly so!)

  • n/a - Parking charge notice 22 Nov 2013 (Forum)
My wife received a parking charge notice for parking in a free car park owned by a council. The fine is £85 from Brittania Parking.  The parking charge was for not displaying a valid ticket, she didn't realise that although parking is free she had to obtain a ticket.
  • Volvo - Parking fine from TPS 16 Apr 2012 (Forum)
I didnt buy anything as I was browsing for curtains but havent got the authority to make such purchases without the "Senior Manager" with me... When I returned, I have been issued with a parking fine.  The reason is that "The driver was observed leaving site whilst the vehicle remained parked on the premises". Where do I stand? I am 50:50 on paying the £50 fine, which increases to £70 if not paid within 4 days or refusing on the basis that the sign does not say I must not leave the retail site?
  • Council loss on fines! 26 Aug 2006 (Forum)

According to the council this is because the level of fines haven't been increased by the Government.

  • Excessive Parking Fine 28 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Last year I parked in what I was told was a restaurant car park. When I returned to my vehicle I found that I had been issued with a £50 fine from a private car parking company. When I left the vehicle I couldn't see any signs on the enterance or in the car park stating that it was private.
  • Peugot 206 - Excel Parking fine Crown Point Leeds 28 Jun 2012 (Forum)
I recently parked on Crown Point in Leeds - where I parked for three hours. I left the site initially to go into town and then came back and shopped on the site.   I was issued with a parking fine of £60 for leaving the site - this was issued 15 minutes after I arrived with the reason of 'left site' I have ignored the fine thus far and was sent a reminder and a demand for £100.
  • Watchdog Tonight - Parking Fines/Fees 28 Feb 2006 (Forum)
I've just been watching an item on Watchdog regarding fines (if fine is a correct term) for parking on private property. As is typical with this programme, the item was superficially presented and poorly researched, raising more questions than it answered.
  • Parking fines set to rocket !! 15 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Hi - According to our local rag, not only is Ken apparently keen on extending congestion charging to the outer London boroughs in the not too distant future, drivers in London should be aware that parking fines are set to rocket from £20 to £100 minimum from April ! Three questions : a)Is this a record ? b)How long before everyone else does this ? c)Are motorists the most persecuted group in this country ?

  • ALL - Private car parks and the DVLA 7 Dec 2020 (Forum)
It has additional facilities such as a car wash and shop.  Customers are given !5 minutes to visit the forecourt for whatever and thereafter risk a fine for PARKING on private land.  Short of not using the BP station the unwary are being sent "fines" by the parking enforcement company Euro Car Parks.  This would maybe not be too bad if the "fines" were reasonable, but the company are demanding £100 for breach of time and generously offering a fine of £60 if paid early!
