Lead weights 3 Jun 2005 (Forum)
I hear that shortly, lead weights will not be allowed for balancing wheels (obviously only when changing tyres). Is this true? If so it is nice to know that the European parliament is so concerned for our health. -
Mazda 323 (1998 - 2003) - 2002 2.0 Correct way to use jump start leads? 16 Sep 2008 (Forum)
The manual for my Mazda 323TD advises the following procedure for using jump leads: Connect a lead from the positive terminal on the discharged battery to the positive terminal on the booster battery; then a lead from the negative terminal on the booster battery to the 'engine hanger' in the discharged car's engine bay. -
Skoda Yeti 1.2 TSI SE DSG - Plug Leads fault 18 Aug 2015 (Forum)
My 2011 Yeti EPC warning light came on, engine running roughly and went into emergency programme which allows travel at 30mph only. Skoda dealer checked and found a failure of plug lead 3. Quote for fitting new leads, £300 for Skoda parts, £200 for alternative manufacturer, supplied by Skoda Garage. Took the cheaper option. Noted that the new leads are now fitted with extra sheathing for heat protection. -
HT Lead - M Reg Ford Fiesta 14 Dec 2006 (Forum)
The RAC came out to fix it and said my alternator needed replacing which has been done. The car still won't start, on another call out to the RAC they say it is the lead that connects the alternator to the battery that is corroded. What is this called? I have had a guy look at the car who says it is an HT lead but another guy days it is something different? Basically I need to know if this is a big or small job and can I buy the lead myself? -

Brake shoes - a general question 16 May 2008 (Forum)
This is a general question about terminology. What is a leading shoe and a trailing shoe? My theory, and I may be well off the mark, is that the leading shoe is where the piston pushes on the leading edge of the shoe and the trailing shoe is pushed on it's trailing edge. -

HT leads 21 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Why are HT leads not a service item? Had the Mondeo (1999, 50k miles) serviced on Saturday and mentioned to the man at the garage that starting on wet, cold mornings has been a bit hesitant. He changed the leads and it's different altogether. -

Ignition lead resistances 28 Mar 2006 (Forum)
A quick question: If a set of ignition leads with a specified resistance of 5K Ohms, all increase to 6K Ohms would this be enough to stop the engine starting when cold, but perhaps keep a hot engine running? Thanks in advance -

V6 HT leads 8 Sep 2001 (Forum)
The leads are all numbered so I know the are correct in the plugs (and they are all different lengths, so can only fit one way). The leads are 1,3 and 5 on the front block, 2, 4 and 6 on the back. However, on the dissy, the leads go in a different order. -
Volkswagen Lupo (1999 - 2004) - 05 1.0 Ignition Leads? 9 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Every now and again over the past year the engine loses power/misfires and they diagnose that an ignition lead needs changing. She has had all four changed during the past year (at no little cost!) and now the same problem has occured yet again! Any ideas if this is symtom of some wider problem please? Also, is lead changing something easily done by an amateur without any particular tools, where could I get the leads and what should they be costing. -
Mk2 Golf Leaded or Unleaded? 4 Mar 2003 (Forum)
The previous owner told me he only used unleaded petrol, although he only drove 5,000 miles in it. The filler cap seems to indicate that the car was originally manufactured to use leaded fuel. I've looked in the owners manual but there are no clues there (its written for both leaded and unleaded cars and assumes you know which one you've got). Will I do the car any harm if I continue to run it on unleaded when it should have leaded fuel? -

Had a clear out of my garage over the bank holiday weekend and found at least 4 sets of jump leads . Does anyone use these anymore? I’ve got 2 of those power booster packs which seem to do the job adequately.
