'Urgent action' required to combat car tyre and brake dust pollution 11 Jul 2019 (News)
Government ministers are urging the automotive industry to cut pollution caused by brakes and tyres. Environment Minister Thérèse Coffey and Transport Minister Michael Ellis are leading the push, following warnings in a new report published today by the Air Quality Expert Group. -

Automatic braking should be standard, says Thatcham Research 10 May 2016 (News)
Thatcham Research, the UK’s only NCAP accredited research centre, has urged car manufacturers to fit automatic braking as standard after if emerged that just two per cent of car buyers are taking-up the tech as a paid-for option. A recent report by Euro NCAP has found that autonomous braking systems were responsible for a 38 per cent reduction in real-world rear-end crashes in Europe. -

Michelin launches updated Latitude SUV tyre 17 Mar 2014 (News)
Compared to the previous Latitude tyre, the Latitude 3 benefits from better water dispersion thanks to a new tread pattern, reducing braking distances by 2.7m in wet conditions. Improvements have also been made to the compound and tyre design to improve steering precision and increase traction when braking or acceleration, with the added benefit of a lower rate of wear, meaning less regular tyre changes. -
Peugeot 206 Recall 20 Nov 2003 (News)
Peugeot has recently identified a fault that in very rare circumstances could affect the braking system on right hand drive 206 models built before February 2002. For safety reasons, Peugeot has decided to launch a recall campaign of 206 right hand drive models built before that date. -

Mazda facelifts MX-5 15 Nov 2012 (News)
Under the skin Mazda has improved acceleration on manual models with better throttle response especially at lower speeds. The brakes have also been improved thanks to changes to the vacuum brake booster so the MX-5 should be even better to drive. The resvised MX-5 comes in eight different paint colours including a new Dolphin Grey. -

The group results were 23.8 metres on the competitor and 22.5 metres on Michelin Primacy 3s. TUV results braking from 100khm to 0kmh showed an average 2.2 metr4es shorter. From 70kmh to 0kmh the average braking was 1 metre shorter. And from 50kmh to 0kmh, the average braking was half a metre shorter. -

Over 90% of brake discs sold in Britain are made in China.
