KIA Pride (1991 - 2000) - 1999 1.3 Loss of Power 11 Aug 2012 (Forum)
I would be very grateful if anyone could help with my problem. I have had my Kai Pride from new (1999) and she has always run immaculately until the last couple of months. I have replaced the battery and then had the timing belt replaced and since then I have had problems. The trouble is that the car will seem to be driving perfectly ok and then suddenly loses power, to such an extent that I have to pull over on the road and stop. -
Insuring a second car - Positive result 21 Jun 2012 (Forum)
Upon phoning, I was talked through the two restrictions (no problems for me) and offered a very good price that allows me to keep it on the road as a cheapish run around and to help the parents out. 10/10 for LV from me.......... -
Volkswagen Golf GT TDi IV Mk 4 - Rough Idle? 1 Jun 2012 (Forum)
If I'm in stop start traffic it's really annoying and it seems like it could cause further damage to the car. A local garage tried running a electronic diagnostics tool but said he couldn't find the variant of my car on the tool. It didn't help that at the time the car was running properly so he said he wasn't sure what's wrong. Could it be the fuel injectors being faulty? -
Vauxhall Vectra C - Vectra C In Limp Mode 10 Feb 2012 (Forum)
I got a bit fed up with the garage not knowing what was happening and paying for things that didnt need doing so called the RAC out to get me home. The car seems to run ok when its cold but as soon as it warms up it stalls all the time and only runs in Limp Mode, in the words of the RAC man, "it has a rich smell, smokes a bit and has a diesel knocking noise". He suspects the EGR Valve needs replacing. -
Renault Scenic '53 reg. 1600 petrol - Engine cutting out 5 Feb 2012 (Forum)
It re-starts with a bit of welly from the throttle, but cuts out again whenever the revs drop. There are no blips or misfire's - when it's running, everything seems fine. Could this be the dephaser pulley fault progressing, or something else? I had a similar problem around 18 months ago, which turned out to be the camshaft sensor. -

galaxy 1.9tdi PD - loud rattling from PD diesel engine 17 Aug 2011 (Forum)
Hi everyone. I have a Galaxy with the PD Tdi engine fitted. It runs smoothly, no rough idle and pulls fine. Its got 152k on the clock with a PSH. Ive personally maintained it for the last year. After a run from blackpool to glasgow i noticed a very loud tapping, almost like a very loud tappet on a petrol engine had started. -

Vauxhall Astra - Tyres deflating 14 Jun 2011 (Forum)
I've been told by yet another one of my neighbours that going along the potholes on the school run would cause my tyres to deflate, but surely I wouldn't be the only person on the school run to suffer from this problem. The neighbour who told me this, by the way, has always been very 'keeping up with the Jones's' and tried to pick fault with every aspect of my car, declaring that Vauxhalls are rubbish, then went out and bought one that is five years newer. -
Ford Mondeo - '98 Ford Mondeo 1.8 Diesel not starting... 7 Mar 2011 (Forum)
So, to cover the other stuff... I've checked the timing, I've made sure fuel is getting to the pump, I've run a wire from the starter solenoid to the battery and the engine turns over but does not start, I've opened the fuel injector pipes to let air out of the system, so far nothing. I even looked for the fuel cut-off switch mentioned on petrol cars but there isn't one. -

Nissan X-trail DCI 2004 model - Used home made diesel... Need advice 11 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Now the vehicle goes in to limp mode when driving along at around 2000rpm. when driving at a higher rpm the vehicle runs fine. I attached a fault code reader and did a diagnostic test. The fault code that was returned was P1273 (Air / Fuel Ratio Sensor 1) The Xtrail also smokes when driving it along. -
Diesel TS2 2005 - Mazda 6 -Limp Mode at idle constantly 1 Sep 2010 (Forum)
Would be very grateful for an help or info into a problem that has persisted for the last year or more and cannot be solved. Mazda 6 diesel, common rail, no dpf. Car will start up, no lights and runs for about 30 seconds at idle, then it will suddenly throw itself into limp mode, running very roughly with the EML illuminated. Light can be put off with scanner, but will do the same thing again almost imediately. -
Ford Fiesta Saloon - Fiesta coolant problem 13 Aug 2010 (Forum)
It's as if the radiator fan doesn't come on at the end of a journey causing the residual heat in the engine to cause the coolant to boil). I have run the engine up to normal temperature from cold while stationary and there is no leak. I disconnected the temperature sensor lead with the engine running and the fan comes on in safe mode. This seems to suggest that the fan, relay and fuse are okay. -
ford fiesta - trying to cut out ? 23 Jul 2010 (Forum)
hi, i have a fiesta 1.4 petrol(2004) and it has developed an a anoying problem, while driving it has an intermitting problem of pulling back as if it was running short of petrol, then it will suddenly shoot forward, somtimes it has got so slow that i have had to pull over wait for a while and restart, i have had it to the garage several times with no joy. so far it has been on the dynostics m/ch no fault found, fuel cleaned out and new fuel filter, renewed core plugs, checked for water leaking onto electrics water-washer ect, new ht leads, air filter, oil and filter, tried leaving fuel filler cap slack as there is a vacume build up, sometimes it does seem to run ok, but when i do get the pulling back fault things i have noticed it does nt matter on the weather dry or wet, seems to happen when fuel is low ie 1st to 2nd mark, i,m starting to wonder if it could be a faulty fuel pump? -
Peugeot 306 1.9DT - 306 DT - will NOT start 15 Jul 2010 (Forum)
My guesses are Fuel pump, fuel injectors, immobilser, HGF (no sign of that), favouring the latter as it really wont start, despite running fine up to that point. thanks in advance Andy -
Ford Focus - When to change the car 6 Jun 2010 (Forum)
At the moment the 8yr old Focus 1.8 estate is running sweetly and continues to give good service. It's just passed the MOT with no remarks, had new brake discs last year, cambelt 2 years ago etc. and basically been well maintained. However, as the children approach teenage years more loadspace and legroom would be an advantage. -
Peugeot 306 - Stick or Twist 20 Apr 2010 (Forum)
This is business mileage. The rest is short commutes to work. My worry is that it will get more and more expensive to run the 306. But if I buy a newer diesel would such things as dual mass flywheel failure make keeping the 306 a better option? I could buy another 306 with less mileage. I get paid mileage for the longer journeys, so running costs are important. -
Vauxhall Astra H estate - Driving technique for a small diesel? 1 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Some weeks ago, I posted about my interest in retiring my old petrol Mondeo estate and replacing it with a 1.3 diesel Astra estate which had been run as a hire car by a good friend. Well, I took the plunge and the Astra is now mine - or at least, it will be when the documents come back from the DVLA. I liked the idea of £90 ved and lower insurance ....... and the increased fuel economy and, frankly, we didn't need an estate quite as big as the Mondeo.
