Come the new year i hope to sell my guzzler and buy an economical VW POLO that will do more than 300 miles to a tank of fuel. Which is the best performing/most reliable model to buy? It has to be petrol, manual, 3 or 5 doors, and no more than 3 yrs old. Thanks, Mark. -
Vauxhall Vivaro 03 1.9d 27 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Hi all, can anyone help with a problem on the above vehicle. It will only rev to 1500rpm, the fuel filter has been changed but with no difference. A diagnostics check has shown no fault (although not a dealership check as they were too busy). Any thoughts or suggestions gratefully appreciated, my friend is tearing his hair out!! -
cheap reliable 4x4 suggestions? 10 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Current favourite is a 4.0 litre Jeep of mid 90's vintage. Any other suggestions (due to low mileage fuel consumption is a low prioroty - cheapness and reliability are the main criteria) -
mitsubishi charisma1.8gdi 25 Apr 2006 (Forum)
My motors only 3 years old with 46k and it seems to be idling erratically and hanging when you depress the clutch. Now I?ve heard that these engines are prone to carbon build up due to our crappy fuel here in Britain. But it seems a really low mileage for that to happen anybody got any ideas or does this sound about right. thanks! -
A/C: to use or not to use 16 Mar 2006 (Forum)
In the handbook for my elderly neighbour's new Corsa, it says "Switch off all auxiliary electrical loads (e.g. air conditioning, heated rear window) when not needed" in the interests of fuel economy. The best advice for air conditioning seems to be "use it or lose it", which is what I told her. Hence, she's confused. Any views? -

As of today the car will only run roughly, whole engine shacks violently, and the throttle does nothing. It is smoking (BLUE + BLACK), does this mean the FUEL PUMP is the problem? Thx -

If anyone out there has opinions on the X-Trail 2.2 Dci as i'd like to know if this is a reliable SUV and get some idea on motorway cruising fuel consumption. The main issues with this car have been cam belt (chain) adjustments and black smoke on early 2.2 112 Bhp engines. -

Mercedes C180K or C220D 31 Dec 2004 (Forum)
I'm looking at new Estate versions of above as opting out of company car. Performance figures are very similar, but obviously the diesel will use less fuel, but it costs £3K more, so doesn't appear to make sense unless it's worth more on resale (prob at 3yrs, 80-90K miles). Any thoughts, anyone? -
