Volvo Owners Insurance - beware 8 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Warning to anyone taking Volvo Owners Insurance - don't get your car stolen! Despite the sales pitch of 'Total peace of mind' and 'Superior service', the insurance company that Volvo use who run the scheme offer only delays, frustration and worry. -
Mint Volvo 460 in need of a radiator 24 Aug 2002 (Forum)
There are two things I would appreciate some advice on from this excellent forum: 1) What is it worth? It is a metallic green 1992 (K) Volvo 460 1.8 Xi. It has covered a mere 31000 miles (none of which have been very short runs), has a full Volvo service history, has had a very recent new Volvo silencer and 2 new tyres and is in immaculate condition inside and out. -

https://www.ipswichstar.co.uk/news/john-winlow-volvo-too-old-ipswich-borough-council-1-6712355 Interestingly in 2009 it had done 272,393 miles. 10 MOT later it's still one exactly the same mileage. Wonder how many miles have really been covered? -
Young drivers with Volvos 5 Jul 2012 (Forum)
Hi. I recently bought a Volvo S60 to a lot of people's surprise as I am only 21! I think it's a great car for the money and I don't know why a lot of younger people are afraid of bigger cars. However I'm just wondering if anyone knows of other young people who drive an S60 or something similar - it would be interesting to find out! -
Volvo XC90 - Rear Shocker ! 4 Nov 2011 (Forum)
Just found out we need new rear shock absorbers for our 2007 XC 90 (75,000 miles). Volvo are asking £884.40 for the parts and £110 labour. Given this is an important job, is this a fair price to pay? And, having just had a 4 x wheel alignment last month, due new tyres will this have to be done again at extra cost? -
Volvo 850 petrol auto estate - twang on braking 20 Oct 2010 (Forum)
My Volvo 850 sometimes "twangs" from the front end when braking-- particularly when turning in to a parking space for example, but also sometimes when braking in a straight line. I get a bit of feedback through the pedal so suspect the abs, perhaps the pump. -
Volvo 440 1.8 (B18U) head gasket replace 13 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Hello guys, Our lodger has just bought a Volvo 440 1.8i (B18U SPFI engine with autobox if it makes a difference) in need of a new head gasket. I can't find a How To anywhere, but has anyone done one of these and is it relatively simple? HWWLTTHMBO is quite competent but any hints would be appreciated! -
Oxygen Sensor Volvo 240 1993 Jetronic 17 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Volvo 240 1993 Jetronic LH 2.4. Although I have the correct min and max voltages coming from the O2 sensor and the heater is OK the levels change very slowly i.e. 2 or 3 second cycle time. Is this trying to tell be something or is this the result of some other fault/mixture problem. -
Volvo V70 (2005) Air Con 9 Aug 2005 (Forum)
- it switches off every time the engine is turned off; - it switches off after about 20 minutes; - when in use it blows hot air for about 15 seconds at random intervals. One of very many woes with this car and the Volvo dealer's response that "some do that" is hardly constructive. -

Volvo/diesel advice 13 Dec 2004 (Forum)
I'm off to look at a Volvo S60 D5 later on today and I need a few purchasing pointers to look for on Diesels engines. I've no experience with diesels, so I don't know what goes wrong commonly/things to look for. It sounds a good car, 2003 (03 reg) 2.4D4 S60, in light blue (similar to Gabbiano) with 340Nm of torque at 1759rpm Any advice is greatly appreciated. -

OIL ACEA Specs 29 Aug 2002 (Forum)
I am taking my Volvo D5 (Diesel) into my local dealer for an oil change. My concern is they use Shell Helix Plus semi-synthetic which has an ACEA spec of B3. In the Volvo user manual Volvo specify ACEA B4 for diesels. -
Volvo C70 - Volvo C70 MK1 Cabrio-a worthwhile buy? 3 Dec 2023 (Forum)
Hi all. A friend has offered me his Mk1 2004 2.0T petrol Volvo C70 cabrio for free. He bought it as a weekend car, but has decided it's too big. The car has about 65k miles (MOT history indicates this as genuine), and the roof works. The service history is patchy at best, but my friend had it fully serviced after purchase and had a new cambelt fitted. -
Volvo V60 T3 - Update Volvo V60 T3 13 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Just wanted to update anyone who may be interested. Finally took the plunge and replaced my beloved 2003 Leon TDI with a volvo V60 T3. Here are the pros and cons so far after 2 months of ownership Pros 1. Solidly built and feels safe 2. T3 engine (1.6 Ford) is sweet as a nut and has plenty of power 3. -

The coolant capacity is approximately 7 litres. I always use concentrated coolant when I change the antifreeze and have noticed that the price of standard ethylene glycol based antifreeze is now only marginally cheaper than the newer OAT based antifreeze. -

Buying my company Volvo? 5 Dec 2002 (Forum)
After 20 years of company cars my employer is pulling the plug and giving me a monthly allowance instead. As I do 20-25K a year, mostly private miles, this won't let me run a nice new Volvo as I've been doing. My Volvo is 3 years old, has done 75,000 miles. Nothing's gone wrong with it apart from headlight bulbs and a mirror that didn't heat up any more. Its the previous model, Classic with loas dof extars as the run out model. 140 bhp. -

'04 V40; has sat in driveway for a few years now. Started regularly but eventually the battery began to run down so I would jump start it every 10 days...
