• Fiesta cooling fan curiosity 14 Feb 2007 (Forum)
  When i pull into a car park & switch off the engine after coming off the motorway, the cooling fan of my Fiesta Zetec (03 reg) switches itself on for about minute. Is this correct or is it a sign of overheating after a long run & do other cars have this gimmick too? -- Its not what you drive, its how you drive it! :-)

  The handbook says not to do it but I have just read that a company in Oxford is converting Nissan Navara's (which have the same engine as the Pathfinder) to run on neat bio-fuel - a mixture of rape and soya oil. Is there a good reason why you shouldn't use biofuel or are Nissan just being luddite's?

  I am running a 2005 mondeo 1.8 LX estate at the moment and cannot for the life in me find a panel light dimmer the handbook shows a rotary switch adjacent to the light switch but this does not exist.Perhaps it does not have one if so its the first car in recent history that I have had without one or is it a test like finding the bonnet release .

  Hi all Can anyone tell me if there is an airbag sensor on the rear of a peugoet 206? My son has been accused of damaging a parked car by running into it on his bicycle. The owner said he had hit it where the airbag sensor was and deactivated the airbag, so the car wouldn't start and he had to get the ECU (sp?) reset by Peugeot. Would welcome any info on this.

  I assume things will have quietened down by the time I get to Notts / S Yorks. Normally I do this run on a Saturday morning and it takes just over four hours. Is it worth taking an hour out at the worst time to feed the family?

  hi there i have a 1.8 diesel endura engine courier van v.reg from cold it wont start i have fitted new glow plugs,fuel heater,fuel filter once its running its sweet have set up a seperate tank and its still the same any ideas???????

  Given that oil suitable for VW PD engines is higher spec than your run-of-the-mill fully-synthetic diesel oil, is there any advantage for, say, owners of common-rail engines in using it? (It just so happens Halfords have it on special offer at the moment... and I have a service coming up for my Peugeot 306 HDi.)

  I'm about to sell my Peugeot 306 privately. It's got 6 weeks MOT left to run and I was thinking about putting it through for a new MOT before I sell it as I'm sure this will add to the value. How much is is likely to add? The car is a 1994 M plate 1.4xl with 132k on the clock.

  The engine management light Comes on on idle (when car at running temperature) but when engine is cold she idles rough, if engine is revved slighly it goes off. Then release throttle comes on after about 10 secs HELP... By the way car is 97 PEUGEOT 306 1.6 xs (TU engine with magnetti-marelli igniton) Many thanks

  2001 xsara hdi estate,excessive road noise and vibration at high speed.have done all the usual stuff,run each front wheel in turn on the jack,spun the rears,nothing untoward.no play in the driveshafts.the vibration can be felt through the body not the steering wheel,are they prone to any engine/gearbox body contact?

  I put some petrol in, and reset the ecu by taking off the negative battery lead. car is xantia 1.8 16v Will i have done any damage to the cat or any other components? its running back to normal now.

  My T reg Vectra 2litre TDi will not start but will turn over. The day before it was running fine. Does this model have a collision/inertia switch? The car has never played up before and the alarm/immobilizer has been working as it should. There are no MIL warning lights etc showing either.

  my 1996 passat 1.9 tdi (fly by wire) has a problem where slowing down for a corner , junction or roundabout the engine revs stays up and i have to brake hard to slow the car then after a little delay the revs drop back. the car runs fine otherwise and is regulary serviced.

  ve read from a variety of sources, that the plug of choice should be W 8 DTCs. Is there any advantage in changing them to the slightly hotter W8s or will it be ok to continue running on W7s?

  I have a problem with burning video DVDs on my pc and after trying everything it looks as if I might have to reinstall Windows. If I just re-run my Windows XP cd can I reinstall without losing everything? I recall doing this with an old pc but with 98SE and I never lost anything.

  My 2001 1.8 Picasso has developed hesitation and irratic running. I have been told that this is likely to be the cat and it needs replacing. How easy is this to DIY? Are there any tips you could give me please? (Local dealer wants in excess of £350 and I can buy off internet for half this price - hence want to try and fit myself!).

  Hi Guys and Gals I have a MK2 clio which stalls when slow running It has a D seris enging I have cleaned the throttle unit and changed the fuel filter. Any other ideas. I have read that it could be a TDC sensor, does this engine have one. Scrathing my head . Cheers
• Blanking EGR Valve - Vauxhall Astra 23 Jan 2006 (Forum)
  I suspect the EGR valve on the NC Astra is sticking, which sometimes causes rough running. I'm considering temporarily blanking the port from the exhaust to see if that gets rid of the problem, hence confirming the EGR valve as the culprit. Are there any reasons why I should not do this?

  My Daewoo Lanos starts fine when its stone cold or Hot but after ive stopped for while and its just warm it takes time to fire up again. It hasn't been serviced for couple yrs and is mainly used for short runs with the occasional long trip if that helps Fanx
