  • BMW 5-Series E61 Touring (2004 - ) - 25,000km report BMW 530d 9 Jun 2009 (Forum)
t accept anything less from a new car, especially one this expensive.
  • see if I care..... 15 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Hoses, belts, rad and coolant seem A OK so left them alone. The a/c is the old Bendix compressor out of the ark and used on every US car in the 50\'s/60\'s, so I had a leak test and I got it refilled with Freon and so far so good. But these are really old stuff so it\'s a toss-up between a rebuild or a non-standard Nippon Denso. I live in the tropics, today it\'s 37 C so believe me good a/c is a must.
  • Audi RS4 - Faulty RS4 out of 9 months in the garage for 4 31 Jul 2010 (Forum)
I want a refund, even though   I love the car! I dont have any confidence in the technical staff at the dealer and the fact they havent investigated the potential engine damage further concerns me enough to consider the car unsafe. If I was to accept it, I would be expecting the engine to fail, and with only 3 months left under warranty, it is not a risk I am prepared to take, no matter how much I love the car!
  • News of Russian Motor Industry 29 May 2007 (Forum)
The maker of legendary and notorious models such as the Lada and the Niva, Avtovaz once dominated the Soviet auto industry and remains by far Russia's biggest car producer. But that heyday is long gone. The cars, a source of amusement in the West because of their boxy appearance and reputation for being unreliable, are being shunned by many younger Russians.
  • Am i paranoid about oil changes 30 May 2004 (Forum)
This is the important part, I start my car up from cold three times a week we are very rarely out long enough for the engine to get cold so it does not get a second cold start. In a year I start my car from cold 52x3 = 156 times My total mileage is about 3500 per year Mr Average Working Guy Starts his car up from cold to go to work finishes work starts his car up from cold again to go home.
  • Nissan X-Trail (2001 - 2007) - consumer rights 10 Feb 2010 (Forum)
He still wasn't very interested and offered to go make 'a contribution' to repair. I argued that he'd sold me a car that was faulty from the start and now he has offered to find a similar car to replace it with - however that was over 2 weeks ago and he now says he's having problems finding something as 4x4 prices are high right now but to be patient.
  • help! big problems with 306 HDI engine 3 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Hey all, I hope someone out here will be able to shed some light on my situation :( What happened was my girlfriend and I changed the waterpump on my car, everything went well, taking the cambelt cover panels off, supporting the engine on a jack with wheel ramps underneath the subframe as extra support and precaution, put a draper locking tool thing in to the flywheel and locked it with a bolt.
  • Advice on buying a cheap used family car? 17 Feb 2020 (Forum)
    4) Ford at almost 10 years old will need Timing belt replacement, which I will budget for, but does that mean the Mercedes will be cheaper to run as a result as I presume all other maintenance will be same thing on both vehicles? (Tyres, service, clutch etc) 5) For any car I will want to get some kind of warranty, and family members have used the AA breakdown+garage warranty in the past (35 excess, repairs up to £500 covered) and it's in the 200-250 range for a year.
  • BMW 3 Series E36 - Increased Deceleration and a lack of Acceleration! 18 Dec 2012 (Forum)
In neutral the car revs up perfectly well. The intake bark is deeper and inline with what my old car sounded like when it had a blocked CAT. 3) MPG is down.
  • 2,500 miles with the Aygo 9 May 2007 (Forum)
The only fault we found with the car was that the boot didn?t lock. A quick visit to the local dealer and the receptionist diagnosed the problem in 5 minutes, parts were ordered and it was fixed two days later. For the first 7 or 8 weeks the car was used predominantly by my wife for her local trips with the very occasional run out. 7 weeks ago I sold my car so we have been relying on the Aygo and I have been driving it a lot more.
  • Citroen Grand C4 Picasso - Liability for gasket head, cambelt, water pump etc 2 Nov 2011 (Forum)
I have also phoned Citroen head office and explained that I think the whole thing should be covered by Citroen as it is obvious that I was sold a dodgy car and should come under my used car guarantee agreement.  They are getting in touch with the branch I purchased the car from and the garage where my car is and said they will get back to me later today.
  • 'Stuck' with an expensive car 17 Nov 2006 (Forum)
I?d like some input from you lot ? I?m stuck with a very expensive car that, while being exactly 100% what I want, is not what I now need, and is costing me an arm and a leg and preventing me buying a house. At the time, a new car made sense for what I needed for my business.
  • Mazda 3 Takara 2008 - Mot advisories on car I want to buy 1 May 2025 (Forum)
The breaks, the hand break and suspension brush pin is all he mentioned so I'm not sure what has been done.  I'm totally clueless when it comes to cars and i'm now begining to get cold feet.  It's being sold for £2,225.  But i've got a bad feeling it's going to cost a lot more....   Ive currently got an old skoda 2003 fabia which I wonder if I shouldn't just fix it (emissions issues and engine light on) and stick with the devil I know.
  • Mercedes Benz Sprinter - Mercedes Benz Sprinter wrote off by a Honda Civic! 2 Nov 2011 (Forum)
Husband was pulling out of a side road into a main road (to turn right) when the Honda was proceeding from the left (an open and shut case - my husband to blame 100%?).  My husband did check the junction before pulling out, parked cars on his right, didnt see this car.  My husband injured in accident.  Third party did not (and has never) reported this accident to his insurers.  I have reported this to his insurers because we are counterclaiming.
  • VW Golf 1.6 FSE - Small claims-consuer rights act 2015 advice 13 Jul 2019 (Forum)
We had a warranty through the dealer, so we assumed it would get sorted and weren't to worried, but sometimes they'd fix something, and sometimes the diagnostic revealed too many competing issues so the warranty wouldn't cover it, because they couldn't identify the specific problem. By the time the warranty expired we were no closer, just had a health check from a VW garafe that diagnosed a range of issues and a repair bill of £2700 (we bought the car for £1600).
  • 2008 Ceed Diesel Estate CRDi 113 - Warranty 20 Oct 2013 (Forum)
When the decision came I immediately booked some flights/hotels in Italy and the garage agreed to collect the car from my house and do the work before I got back on September 28th and return it to my drive, So I suppose that 'All's well that ends well'.   Thanks to Garry at my local garage who was 'on my side' at a time of great pressure.

  • '93 Polo. Coolant leak? 17 Oct 2005 (Forum)
I thought this was just because with having it changed, it would still be dispelling any air in the system. All was well until Thursday. I drove the car to a mate?s house, and after an hour and a half, when I returned, all the windows were steamed up. When I say steamed up, they were really damp and took some demisting. Even the heated rear screen struggled to clear it on the 20 minute journey home.
  • 1992 Vauxhall Astra 1.4I 8v SOHC 17 Nov 2002 (Forum)
I am not a professional mechanic and do DIY through necessity not enjoyment and consider myself reasonably competent although this little tale may prove the undoing of that! The above car has been in the family seven years and has just been handed back by No.1 son – it has seen him through university and he wants a proper car! Needless to say he has not really looked after and No.1 daughter who is 17 in January is the next candidate ‘owner’.
  • Ford Focus - Rejection of car 23 Apr 2012 (Forum)
When we went to collect the car withourt prejudice the dealership said to leave the car with them and they would attempt to dry it out as they woud have to do this any way they are putting the car in the spray oven with the windows down!!!!!.
