  We have a puma and the keyfob is very hit and miss for working. It requires repeated pressing sometimes but not every time. Battery is tested at full voltage but i have not changed recently. Does anyone know of any reasons why and what to do to sort out . cheers

  Hi there, I hope someone can give me an idea of what's wrong with my L reg 405. Replaced battery about 6 weeks ago and has been running fine since then. Worked fine this morning then tried to get back in car this afternoon and there was no power at all.

  Anyone changed the battery on a remote locking fob for a 2001 Mazda 323F? Wary in case the coding can be deranged. Getting a spare key coded was a real problem with only a main dealer being competent. -- I wasna fu but just had plenty.

  While at an IAM meeting yesterday, the guest speaker, a leading firefighter of 14 years experience said that the police are trying to persuade firemen not to cut the battery cables on crashed cars. Apparantly, they can tell if the car was braking and what speed amoungst other bits of info. Is this true?

  Remote locking has stopped working on my mothers T reg Micra GX 1.3 Auto. Car had some problems starting, solved by cleaning the battery contacts. Now the remote locking just won't work. Anyone got any ideas why? Thanks for the help

  i am going to replace the standard radio cassette with a standard landrover cd tuner on my 2002 freelander. to do this i need to disconnect the battery. does anyone know if this will effect any electronic gismos in the car ? i know the radio code will need imputing but is that all? thanks

  Folks, The Citroen XM seems to have a reputation for eating radiators and heater matrices due to "the elctrolytic effect". That is, as I understand it, a "battery" effect between two metals eats away at one of them/ both of them. Hence the short life of said parts. Is this known on any other vehicles, and is there an easy fix? rg

  The light on the key fob still pulses but nothing happens when it's pointed at the car's sensor. Renewing the batteries made no difference. Any solutions? Dave Gordon.

  4 weeks ago it just wouldn't start. Its a push button start , and we tried both key fobs and changed the batteries in the fobs,  but no joy. Breakdown recovery checked the cars main battery which was fine, and tried a "reset" by disconecting the battery temporarily, but car still wouldn't start.   Today I went to do some shopping, I drove around 8 miles in the the car, which has been running with no problems, apart from the odd intermittent electrical light (I think sensor fault maybe), however after stopping for around 10 minutes and returning to the car, the car wouldn't open with central locking, the car had no power what so ever and wouldn't start. I called out green flag who tried to get some charge into the battery under the bonnet ( due to is not being able to access the boot through central looking and no key access we couldn't access the main battery in the boot until he got some charge in to unlock the car) after this he charged the battery in the boot which started the car.

  t turn and the solenoid doesn?t even ?click? and after several attempts the engine finally starts without further ado. The battery has been replaced recently, however I don?t think this is a battery related problem as once the engine starts, everything runs fine (no low charge/alternator warning lamp, nice bright dipped beams etc.)

  However twice since changing the oil (twice in 3 weeks) the car has refused to start for no apparant reason. The battery, coil pack, HT leads are all healthy and it was getting a spark. I removed the air filter and turned the key for a constant 5 minutes (I am aware this is doing the starter and battery no good) and both timed it finally started after a loud of back fires and huge amounts of black smoke coming out the back.
