  • Chrysler Voyager (1997 - 2001) - 1999 2.0 Alarm problems 23 Sep 2008 (Forum)
If you use the remote to lock the doors, then unlock again the indicator signals flash inside the car but not the exterior lights, so this must mean the alarm is still on. Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery does not help in reseting. Thanks in advance, Ian
  • Vauxhall Corsa B (1993 - 2000) - 99 1.5td Warning Lights/Overvoltage? 25 Jul 2008 (Forum)
While driving at night, when the fault occurred, all the lights got quite a bit brighter (headlights etc) as in an increase in voltage. Battery is fine, no warning light there. Any ideas?

  • Vauxhall Vectra B (1995 - 1999) - Philips CCR600 4 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I haven't tried it on MW or LW, or disconnecting the link to the ignition switch (option in the radio set-up) as yet. Could it be related to a low battery voltage on starting? Does anyone have a contact for Philips car audio?
  • Rover 45 (1999 - 2005) - 2001 2.0 Key/Radio Codes 24 May 2008 (Forum)
As there are no Rover dealers anymore does anybody have an idea how I can obtain these details. While I dont need the codes at the moment there may be a time I will, change of battery etc. I did see in old forum from a couple of years ago someone mentioned that a Vauxhall dealer can get the details??? Cheers in advance JonR

I have basic automotive electical skills having installed amps, speakers, head units, handsfree kits etc but this is the first time I've needed to take power. The wires are very fine so don't look like they should go to the battery! Thanks.

  • Plug-in cars could actually increase air pollution 29 Feb 2008 (Forum)
That's because a plug-in's lower tailpipe emissions may be offset by smokestack emissions from the utility generating plants supplying electricity to recharge the big batteries that allow plug-ins to run up to 40 miles without kicking on their gasoline engines. Plug-ins, called PHEVs, are partly powered, in effect, by the fuel used to generate the electricity. The rest of the USATODAY news item: http://tinyurl.com/yss7cr Another example of not looking at the whole package?
  • Renault Laguna (1994 - 2001) - 1996, 2.0 16v - not starting/no turnover 28 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Anyway, couple of questions: My 96 Laguna wouldn't start this evening, no tick over, nothing. The battery seems fine, all lights work, and it wouldn't jump start from a colleague's car. So does anyone have an idea of what has suddenly stopped working? Second question, i don't have current breakdown cover - so has anyone bought cover (Tesco seem cheapest) the night before, then phoned them up the next day to get someone out to fix their car?
  • Ford Focus Remote Key Fob 6 Feb 2008 (Forum)
I seem to have completely lost the use of my remote key fob. The range was getting shorter and shorter so I replaced the battery which helped for a while - then it became erratic when it worked. Yesterday it stopped working all together. I've tried reprogramming the remote using the Ford procedure but the fob doesn't seem to respond in the programming mode.
  • FIAT Punto (1994 - 1999) - Car standing unused for 12 months. Will it run? 22 Jan 2008 (Forum)
I guess it will need a minimum of a full service and all fluids changed, clutch, brakes and engine may be may be siezed, deffo a new battery, probably 4 new tyres. That would cost more than it is worth so probably get it collected and scrapped by a proper disposal contractor. Any thoughts on other things that might be needed and the cost involved, please?
  • Renault Clio 1 Petrol (1991 - 1998) - 92 1.4 RN starting problem 30 Dec 2007 (Forum)
My son has a k reg Clio 1.4RN and it's proving a problem to start. Battery turns over engine OK but for about 10 attempts nothing seems to happen - no indication of firing & smell of petrol from exhaust. Then it starts, but will stall if throttle is touched. After a couple of minutes it runs fine.
  • Toyota Corolla (1997 to 2002) - (97-02) - Reprogramming remote locking fob 27 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Hi all, I recently dropped my remote central locking fob after which it failed to lock or unlock my car (however the PCB within etc 'appears' undamaged). I changed the battery (in hope!) but it still wont unlock the car, neither does the spare fob. I'm thinking they both might have 'lost' their codes so does anyone know how to reprogramme a Toyota fob (its a Denso 1512T FWIW).

  • Laying up car for 2 months at a time 11 Sep 2007 (Forum)
The plan is to park it in a barn and use it for a couple of weeks every 6 to 7 weeks or so. So far I've thought about a solar powered battery charger (with the panel outside the barn!), car sitting on wooden packers on concrete blocks with the wheels off the ground, windows slightly open (but with less than a mouse sized gap) and a cotton dust sheet over it.
  • Nissan Primera II (1996 - 1999) - P10 air intake duct 1 Sep 2007 (Forum)
On removing the air inlet duct to check for any partial blockage I have found a 2cm dia. round hole located on the outside of the bend, between the resonator the front of the duct, as the duct passes the outside corner of the battery. Initial thoughts are that something has been cut off thus leaving this hole. Any idea why this hole should be there and will it have any adverse effect on performance, also what is the function of the air resonator attached to the duct?

  • Fluids into wrong car orifices 29 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Regards :) NB, should it just be fluids? has anyone in the trade found a banana forced into the battery yet? as there is almost a match in orifice size... ( Written with warm intended humour) Spelling of the word orifices corrected :-) - PU
  • Audi A6 - water leaks into the interior 29 Jun 2007 (Forum)
The problem lies with water gaining entry into the back passenger footwell. Ive taken the pollen filter out, battery etc to check all drain holes are unblocked. Last night I put a hose on the windscreen and the water started coming through the air inlet (through the pollen filter) the pollen filter was soaked.
