  has anyone done this My parents own an apartment in France and have recently registered their 4 x 4 there, cheaper insurance, no tax, MOT every two years. Although they live more over there now then here i wondered if anyone else has thought of registering their car abroad {typo in header amended}

  Going to France next month on the bike ! Anyway being joined by a friend from the North, we had a planning meeting the other night and he suggested that he travel down the M6 and then veer off along the A14 and join the M11 instead of the more traditional M1 route.

  Hi, Has anyone got any recommendations for a van rental company which allows travel to continental Europe? I have a trip to Southern France coming up which I really need a van for and don't really want to go to all the trouble of buying and selling one. Any suggestions welcome, Thanks.

  Can anyone suggest an online website where I can find the outline to make up a headlamp beam deflector(s) for a VW Golf Mk4 - for driving in France. Unlike certain other manufacturers there is no template in the handbook. I know all I need is some black tape in the right place.

  There was a recent thread regarding the viability of having cars serviced in France - obviously the fare cost would have to be factored-in. I'm doing the trip in reverse, and checking prices note that Eurotunnel do a short stay/overnight return fare of £30 (42 euros). Are there any better deals readily available, without travelling at unsociable hours?

  Off to France in a couple of weeks via Dover. On checking the AA route planner it mentions major works on the M25 after junction 1a. Can someone in the know tell me what the M25 is like at the moment.Should I expect major delays.

  Is it just the badges or are there differences to the engines, ECUs etc? I am worried that if we break down in France, will the Opel dealer be able to deal with a Vauxhall? Will their diagnostics be able to read Vauxhall codes etc?

  Thought people might like to know that I was at Carrefour (big hypermarket) in Nice (S. France) last week and picked up their special offer of 7 litres of fully synthetic 5W50 oil for petrol or diesel engines, costing 22.25 euros (= £15.50 approx.). You may like to check to see if this is available in other branches of Carrefour.

  Why do manufacturers fit nice shatterproof plastic headlights these days, and then fit foglights below the bumper with glass lenses? Both my 406 and Citroen C3 have now suffered from broken foglights. Next time I pop over to France for a tank of cheap diesel I will go to the dealers and get some cheap spares.

  I live in France and my car is registered here. I was stopped on a motorway on 29th May 2011 and asked for my details. I received two notices which I signed as being the driver even though I stated that the speeding offences were on the 18th March and I could not be sure I was the driver.

  Now I?m about to go on holiday to France again and was going to fill up with Gazole while I was out there, BUT when I filled up at my local station yesterday I noticed (for the first time!) that on the fuel filler-flap it states that I should NOT use Bio-diesel or Gazole.

  Thinking of going over to France for 7 days sometime during the first 2 weeks in July (Scottish school holidays). I have been on various websites, chez-nous etc but can anyone recommend either a villa type place, or even a static caravan maybe within 2-3 hours max of the Channel Tunnel?

  Except for the £200 he looks like having to pay for a map kit in order to get one for France. I think he should also look towards using scamera data (yes I know there is talk of banning. The colour range of the 500 has a wider spec. but whether this translates into it having a better display in practice is another question?

  Faced with that sort of thing, what I need is a British-based Lloyds underwriter or company that will provide classic insurance for a car based in France. Does anybody know of one?

  Can anyone out there give me a sensible answer to a simple question? Citroen UK and France have both been less than helpful with their answers. I have a 2002 XSARA 110bhp HDI SX. My handbook says that I must use Total Quartz 9000 (or equivalent). It does also list Quartz 7000, but says that this must not be use in HDi engines which have a particle filter.

  Having used the liber-t tag in France and realising the time and effort it saves at the peage I am now tempted to get a tag for Spain and Portugal. Has anyone used this tag yet? If so any comments from personal experience would be welcomed.

  I live in France and E10 fuel is now being sold everywhere at a cheaper price that normal 95 octane.  Is there a website which explains which cars are compatible as the only one I can find is an Australian version saying that you cannot use E10 in a Ford Ka or Focus.

  I was recently driving in France and entered a tunnel, some matrix signs, lit up with a red circle on a black background with a ₡ symbol. Can any of the knowledgeable folk here tell me what it is (though I suspect it?s an impending fine).
