Private Plate Abuse 25 Sep 2005 (Forum)
I guestimate 1 in 3 private registrations I see are altered in some way - spaced incorectly, studs used to alter certain letters or numbers, size variations - for example 7's made to look like 1 or I. Whilst obviously hardly a major crime do the police actually bother to stop any of these offenders? - judging by the numbers abusing the system I doubt it. P.S. I am not knocking private plate buyers in general, I have one myself. -
fault find brakelight on 2.0L omega 27 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Hi all, got an omega 1994 L. Brake light on n/s not working, but bulbs are ok. Tried 2/3 new ones. Is there a particular wire in the multiplug on back of light cluster to check? I think it's the bulb with 2 spots on the bottom. One for tail light, other for braking (correct me if I'm wrong). -

Selling Vauxhall Corsa - price? 27 Jul 2005 (Forum)
Going to be selling SWMBO's Vauxhall Corsa in the next few weeks. I've looked about on Autotrader but can't find the exact model to compare. It's 1998 (S) with 54k, FSH, 7 months MOT and 11 month RFL. Red in colour and has faded a little, although I'll be dealing with that before selling along with the black trim. CD radio, sunroof, recent cambelt. -

Over-cautious "slow" signs 15 Mar 2005 (Forum)
signs might have been relevant when there were no speed limits on rural roads, no MOT tests, no high-friction road surfaces and when vehicles were much cruder than they are now. But it?s hard to get into difficulties now in a modern vehicle when you are keeping to current speed limits. tyres for shogun 14 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Hi, need a new set of tyres for our 02 shogun lwb. The Dunlop TG35's have lasted 45k miles and have been OK, but I have nothing to compare with. Comfort, long life and wet grip are important. Low rolling resistance would be nice aswell. Off road driving is limited to a 1 mile pot holed unadopted road every day. -
getting paid for test drive 2 Feb 2005 (Forum)
I've received (in the post) an invitation from Citroen to take a test drive. Apparently, if I accept the invitation, I'll get £15 worth of M&S vouchers. Seems like a good offer to me! I take it other Citroen owners are all getting the same? (And do other manufacturers make this sort of offer?) Bearing in mind that I have no intention of buying a new car any time soon, which Citroen should I take for a spin? -

I see the same car fairly regularly and am still very taken with its very elegant bodywork - certainly its rear view is considerably more handsome than the hatchback...:-) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - What\'s for you won\'t pass you by -
Mazda 323 brake rattle 21 Dec 2004 (Forum)
I have just had my Mazda`s first year service. Within a few days a rattle appeared from front offside. Took it back to dealer . They said some rust may have fallen behind disc whilst taking off the wheels to check. It appeared OK for a few miles after collection, then it started again. -
SL500 96; what is this part? 12 Dec 2004 (Forum)
I have a slight ticking noise coming from a small (about 2 inches across) unit mounted on a rubber mounting bracket in front of the ABS pump on the n/s inner wing; there is a 2 pin electrical lead running to it and two pipes; one running into the unit and the other out of it - there is a mark on the top with an arrow with the word MOT on it (motor?). -
Low mileage in a long period of time 3 Nov 2004 (Forum)
I'm considering buying a used car that has only done 1200 miles in 16 months. How harmful to the mechanical parts would the long period(s) of idleness have been? The car is good price, but I feel that the above issue is one on which I need guidance before I commit myself. -- L\'escargot by name, but not by nature. -

Petrol injection - how does it work? 2 Jun 2004 (Forum)
I had assumed that the reason for one injector per cylinder was so that each was timed precisely for the correct point on that cylinder\'s cycle. I thought the whole point about fuel injection was that it replaced the inevitable hit and miss suck and dribble from a carburettor with a precisely timed and measured squirt to each cylinder.
